00:00Jason Tatum back, Tatum, Houser, Kata, Jalen Brown, Derrick White, a really formidable starting five here for Joe Mazzula in
00:08his fourth season with the Celtics, and they will take on not as much of a short-handed Milwaukee Bucs
00:15team as we saw on Wednesday.
00:16Guys like this, Kyle Kuzma is back, Pete Nance, Miles Turner, Usman Chang, and A.J. Green, although this is
00:23a lineup that we haven't seen yet. The 35th different starting lineup for the Milwaukee Bucs. They are tied for
00:28the eighth most in the NBA, and a lot of that they've juggled some lineups more after the All-Star
00:35break, of course, as we know. The Bucs will be missing five guys. Gary Trent Jr., Bobby Portis, Ryan Rollins,
00:42Kevin Porter Jr., and Giannis have all been scratched here for tonight.
00:45When you look at the makeup of this lineup, and Usman will once again be the initiator offensively, along with
00:52Kyle Kuzma in transition, but I think the ball will be in Ooze's hands as the point forward out here.
00:57Ryan Rollins was downgraded here throughout the day, and so that's the biggest question. Who's your playmaker and ball head?
01:05Now, it'd be interesting to see if Derrick White matches up, because that's a team. He is one of these
01:09best on-ball defenders in the NBA.
01:12Okay, though, gets the first touch, and the first finger-roll finish. It's 2-0 Boston.
01:17Neme the dream. Lurking on that back line and some miscommunication. Two bucks in the vicinity between A.J. and
01:24Miles. No one commits.
01:26Neme the dream. I see what you did there. Neme the dream.
01:29Behind the back pass. Wow, what a pass from Tatum to find Brown. And Hauser from the corner. I mean,
01:35this Celtics team lives off the three-point line.
01:38Yeah, they are one of the best in terms of volume, three-point shooting this season.
01:44The last five seasons, actually.
01:47Yeah, 46 to 47 percent of their shots come from Curry. Speaking of three, Kuzma takes the first one for
01:52the Bucs.
01:54Both of these teams are just a heavy dose behind the line.
01:57Percentage of points there. Third and fourth in the lead. Tatum can't get it.
02:01They're tough that they run multiple actions, but then they've also got guys in Tatum and Brown that can create
02:06their own shots within those multiple actions.
02:09They've got great one-on-one players, a great execution in their half-foot offense. That's a tough combination to
02:14deal with.
02:16Down to a diving Kayla. He's got a quick four points for the first seven.
02:22It looked like Kato is going to set a step-up screen and saw the defender was hedging a little
02:26bit too aggressively.
02:27A deep shot in J. Green. That's one way to pour in the first points.
02:32That's nice. That's a deep, deep three. He's got to be close to 30 foot on that one, but that's
02:36kind of what you've got to do against this really good half-court defense of the Boston Celtics.
02:41Yeah, just a shave below. 24 feet is right now what they're measuring it as.
02:45Seem longer, but it did. Seem longer. We'll take it.
02:49Kato draws the foul.
02:50All right, Jason Tatum. Look at this behind the back pass.
02:55Nice job by Delian Brown, the dislodge the basketball, and that's a three-quarter length behind the back dime right
03:03on the money, and the extra pass to Houser in the corner.
03:09You know, when you talk about playing the game the right way, the Celtics embody that, you know, just in
03:15terms of moving the ball, sharing the ball, working for each other.
03:18Rick Pitino, I watched him practice once he said when he was in Louisville, they were playing Minnesota.
03:22He always talked about it. If you're not trying to score, you're trying to help a teammate try to score.
03:26And they're always into that mindset. Whether they have the ball or not, they're trying to put themselves in position
03:33to have a teammate try to score.
03:35Well, you've got a great system. Kato with a great defense. I mean, the core has stayed put, right?
03:39Derek White and Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum, and you've got Sam Houser.
03:44But some of the personal pieces have changed.
03:47Yeah, and so give Joe Missoula, you know, and I didn't know if he was ready for that challenge.
03:52A lot of people did it, right?
03:53For Brad Stevens. Yeah, you just never know.
03:55But he has come in and embraced the opportunity.
03:59I remember watching a press conference after they won the championship, and Drew Holiday was talking about some of the
04:04unconventional stuff he does.
04:05We'll have like a ten-minute stretch of practice that we can't dribble.
04:08You know, like that was, that's so foreign. I'm sure you did that when you were in high school, but
04:12to these guys, like, we just, I just never seen that before.
04:14We can't, nobody, we couldn't dribble. We had to play, like, half-court, full-court basketball without dribbling.
04:19I'll tell you what, so that guy, you should not debate, especially after this year, if you can coach, right?
04:25When you lose a guy like Tatum, you know, for most of this season, for 60-plus games.
04:30It's supposed to be a gap year, a reset year. It's like, you know, Boston's supposed to be like, you
04:33know, it's struggling to be a 500 team.
04:35He's there in second-best of the East. Speaking of that guy, Jason Tatum knocks down the three-pointer.
04:41Yeah.
04:41A right Achilles tear. He missed the first 62 games of the season.
04:48And Doc immediately, not wasting any time, called a timeout. Out of the jump ball, this is a look we
04:52think it.
04:54Tatum taking his time in Boston, out and running here quickly at 5-7, 11-3.
04:59And just, they've not missed a beat, it actually has gotten better in terms of winning the championship under him.
05:06Check in with Melanie Ricks, what'd you pick up from the huddle?
05:08Hey, Lise, yeah, it was all about defense in that huddle.
05:11Doc Rivers telling his guys, you've got to keep it simple.
05:14We already messed up three switches, and Darwin Hand coming in to say, we've got to start communicating down there.
05:19Miles telling his guys to commit to the action.
05:22And then Pete, of course, I told you, he's always vocal in those huddles.
05:25Telling guys, we've got to be physical with the screeners.
05:27You've got to try to take away, thank you, Mel.
05:29You've got to try to take away that shot if you can, but good luck.
05:32I mean, Boston is, what, three for three, from three here to open up.
05:35And Derek White hadn't had a great season shooting the basketball, but we know he can shoot.
05:39As we know he can, too.
05:41Uzi.
05:43Uzi, as we learn, his nickname is.
05:45All right, so the Bucs have six points.
05:47All six points coming from three-point land.
05:49Yeah, and so they go underneath, going underneath again on Derek White.
05:53There's a payoff on that possession, but this guy, you've got to put a body on.
05:56Seven feet, 260 pounds.
05:59And then he is Keita, who was one of the guys in the last meeting.
06:03And back in March, early March, they did not play.
06:06There was no Jalen Brown, Keita, or Jason Tatum in that game.
06:09And Boston still dominated in that game, 108-81.
06:15Tita Marie had a song, Portuguese in love.
06:17And this guy, the first player from Portugal to make it to the NBA,
06:20you're kind of surprised at that.
06:21Yeah, me, too.
06:23Time for a quick message from Michaels Corporation.
06:36He's a guy that Keita is a guy that played at Utah State.
06:39He was really a big defensive guy,
06:41but lately he's been showing that he can be an offensive target, too.
06:45So, for your skill development has to come into play, take these guys.
06:49It's like the OKC guys, the two-way guys, the Lou Dordain and Caluso.
06:57Catch and shoot.
06:58You don't have to teach him about shooting.
07:00You don't have to teach him about offense.
07:02Sam Howes of the old Wisconsin product,
07:04taking it to his home state team, born in Green Bay,
07:07native of Stephen Point, Wisconsin.
07:10That was his high school coach.
07:12There was a block, and the Celtics are out and running again.
07:15As much as they run.
07:16We saw what happened.
07:17Yeah, it was like next to last his pace, but...
07:19Right.
07:19But then, no, Miles was converged up.
07:22Four white shirts, and then Keita, they stood him up,
07:24and then Keita took him out, but the block come behind.
07:27Great team defense.
07:29Yeah, Tatum steps it back.
07:31All right, so...
07:33They did a great job just protecting the rim and protecting the paint
07:37and making it awful tough, like pulling teeth for their opponents to score
07:40once they do get the ball itself.
07:42A.J., good drive at Dish.
07:43Again, Kuzma can't knock it down.
07:45Kuzma's got a couple of looks from that corner.
07:48Decel.
07:49You'll see a lot of that deceleration move from Jaylen Brown.
07:52Under control.
07:53Good find.
07:55Good finisher.
07:56And Hauser.
07:57Uh-uh-uh.
07:58Another Doc Rivers.
07:59How about two timeouts that he's called at just 7.30?
08:02Just wanted more awareness, more education about it.
08:05You know, wearing the shoes that we're all wearing.
08:08We sign them.
08:10They auction them off.
08:11So we're trying to raise money as well.
08:12It's a good thing.
08:13So all 30 NBA head coaches,
08:15they're wearing these custom-designed Nike Air Max sneakers
08:19so that they can help to raise funds
08:21and promote acceptance for deserving autism resources.
08:24It's something I want to say.
08:25Currently, one in 37 children in the USA are diagnosed with autism.
08:29This touches a lot of families and communities, including our own.
08:33And autism isn't something to fix.
08:35It's something to understand, support, and to celebrate.
08:38And so when we talk about autism acceptance,
08:40it's about inclusion and opportunity,
08:42making sure that autistic individuals and their families
08:45have access to the same opportunities,
08:47feel seen, supported, and truly included, Lusa.
08:50Yeah, and the NBA has done a fantastic job
08:52in terms of being an inclusive league
08:54and a forward-thinking league as well.
08:56Thank you for bringing us that story, Mel.
08:57Yeah, as you're talking, coming out of that time,
09:00Al Qaeda with another dunk,
09:01Cormac Ryan is the first self here for anyone.
09:04You've got the same five starters here for the Celtics,
09:07and Ryan comes across and handling
09:09some of the playmaking duties here for the Bucs.
09:11Well, yeah, so you had a lot of bigs,
09:14a lot of non-ball handlers.
09:15It's a lot of pressure on the Ouz
09:16that have to facilitate.
09:18Now you put Ouzman in a situation
09:20where he can focus on scoring, focus on hard-pents,
09:22and not have to be the guy to initiate all the time.
09:25That's the first two-pointer that the Bucs have hit.
09:27They were 0 for 4 before Ouzman hit that deep 2,
09:31and Qaeda, man, he's having his way in the paint.
09:35So you know that Tatum and Brown are going to see
09:37a lot of doubles, a lot of help,
09:40and so you need that roller, that strong roller finisher.
09:44Qaeda has given them that and more here early in this game
09:47and all season long, as a matter of fact.
09:50A perfect 4 for 4 for the field.
09:52He's got three free throws as well, 11 points.
09:55He actually is the leading scorer here for the game.
09:57So far, Tatum with the kick-out.
10:00Here comes Derek White.
10:02The director of resources at these guys,
10:04he's found the openings, he's found the gaps.
10:06There's no defenders because of double-team right there.
10:09There's a gap.
10:09Didn't make that shot, but that's a nice job by him to relocate.
10:13It's interesting because both of these teams
10:15are on the low end in terms of points in the paint.
10:19But the Celtics taking advantage.
10:21Eight of those coming in the paint here tonight.
10:24Kuzma with the tip.
10:28Good job by Cormac Ryan.
10:30Did try and finish over Qaeda in the paint.
10:33Would have got that shot blocked.
10:34Pulled him to the corner.
10:35Had a really good look and could knock it down.
10:37But Kyle Kuzma right there to clean it up.
10:41Bucks 2-3 zone defense.
10:43Now watch the center of the floor and watch Tatum
10:45as being the guy that operates out of the middle of that zone.
10:49Oftentimes.
10:52Defensive three-second call as Giannis watches from the bench.
10:56But in that time out, Marcus, Giannis with the grand dancers.
11:00Okay.
11:02Mariah was really.
11:04Mariah was a total of the next cute baseball hats.
11:06He's been rocking baseball pants a lot here recently.
11:09I feel like he started that last year, actually.
11:12Maybe she told him last year.
11:14This couple of games, though, he's had different assortment of...
11:20Capperie on.
11:23Capperie.
11:24The point of showing that was not his cap, though, Marcus.
11:26It was to show off his dancing skills.
11:28What do you think?
11:29Well, I mean, the cap was more interesting.
11:32Okay.
11:33So, you know, he's just going to go into the motions.
11:36You feel like he had more to give.
11:38He wasn't that loose.
11:39He actually has seen them do a little bit more in shooter arms of that.
11:42I'll give you that.
11:43You've seen him on Instagram.
11:45You know, he's got the whole package.
11:46Nice job.
11:47Jalen Brown.
11:48Jericho played it as well as he could play it.
11:50He presented the wall inside.
11:52Jalen Brown just kept coming, kept shot faking.
11:55I think he may have lifted him a bit right here at the end.
11:58Here's a shot fake.
11:59Gets him a little out of position.
12:00And once he's leaning forward,
12:02Jalen Brown just attacks the body of Jericho
12:06and gets to the free zone line.
12:07You know, I thought it was interesting to see a stat line
12:10where Jalen Brown, when he lost a contact,
12:13but he leads the league in terms of drives per game here this year.
12:18Uh-oh.
12:19We found it.
12:21Jalen.
12:21Yeah, we got it.
12:22We got it.
12:24Located it for you.
12:25He's got a spare.
12:26He's going with the spare,
12:27so maybe we can inform the training staff.
12:32See how well that spare will let him see this free throw here.
12:37But he's done an exceptional job
12:39in terms of driving and going to the pick here this year.
12:44There were no Jason Tatum.
12:46You know, last year he was, like, 15th in usage.
12:50No.
12:50Yeah, about 15 in usage.
12:53This year he's number two in usage
12:55because the ball's in his hands.
12:57Jalen Tate.
12:58Jason Tatum, who's also a guy that likes to put it on the floor,
13:01he averages about 10-11 drives again.
13:03He's had to be more aggressive.
13:06And the interesting thing, he says, since Tatum has been back,
13:09that number of drives has actually kicked up one.
13:12He's up around 20 drives a game now.
13:15So with Tatum back, you know he's going to see a lot of closeouts.
13:19Jason Brown, his teams are in rotation,
13:21and he's taking advantage of that.
13:23That's a huge jump, though, as you saw last year to this year.
13:25Like six more drives per game.
13:28And what he's doing on those drives, you can see it tonight.
13:31He's learned this deceleration move that he uses beautifully.
13:35We've already seen him throw an assist to Hauser, I believe, out of it.
13:39But he lets that defense kind of get themselves out of position
13:42and then finds a way to finish inside.
13:44He'll shoot floaters on it.
13:45He'll get to the rack on it.
13:49You always like to see a player,
13:50especially at this stage of their career, kind of add an element.
13:53I always felt like Jalen Brown was the guy this year.
13:55When you talk about they expected the Celtics to have a gap year,
13:58he was the one maybe that took that sort of narrative
14:00really personally here this year.
14:05He'll play off MVP.
14:08Certainly, you can put his name, I don't know,
14:09if you put his name off the MVP consideration.
14:1329, he's averaging, I mean, he's averaging,
14:15he kind of caught me by surprise.
14:16I knew he was having a great year,
14:17but he's averaging 29 a game.
14:19Because he's just, you just don't hear his name floating around
14:21as much as Wembe and SGA and Jokic.
14:25For the number two team, 50-plus wins already.
14:28Nice!
14:29Oh, Cormac Ryan!
14:31Get comfy, cozy with these rotational minutes.
14:34See, and that's what I love about him.
14:35I mean, he is a guy that really loves to play defense.
14:38Gets down and dirty with defending Peyton Prince,
14:40but just as good at knocking down that over three-point shot.
14:45You know what, he can jive, but he can hit the three-point for two.
14:48Let's not forget about that.
14:49He's so comfortable off the dribble.
14:50I mean, right there, like a two-or-three dribble combination.
14:53Got Jericho Sims on his heels.
14:56Interesting, that's the first field goal for Jalen Brown here tonight.
14:59We have that free throw.
15:01A.J. Greenfires, it hits.
15:04Six points here for A.J., a couple of three-point boughs.
15:08And a timeout here by the Celtics.
15:11That one going for 25 feet here for A.J.
15:16Derry Byrne dialing it up.
15:23You say he's just a friend.
15:26You say he's just a friend.
15:29Oh, baby, you.
15:34Let's go.
15:42Let's go.
15:49Let's go.
15:51Let's go.
15:52Oh, it's gonna never...
15:58So, shooting 44% here tonight, generated 12 of their 16 points here tonight from the three-pointer.
16:05If you look at tonight's prime fast-free delivery, you know, one of the positives in the last four games,
16:11look at the ranks here, in terms of the three-point field goals made, attempted.
16:15They're shooting percentages from D.
16:19You know, back when the season started, Doc Rivers had talked about, we would love to average somewhere in the
16:2540s, in terms of attempting 40 to 45 per game, if we could.
16:30But, you know, lately, from February, March, April, they've kind of flirted with those numbers towards the end of the
16:37season.
16:37Yeah, and, you know, a lot of it's out of necessity with no Giannis to kind of anchor the scoring
16:44down in the paint.
16:45I mean, this is pretty much what the Bucs are relegated to.
16:49Just trying to keep up with the modern-day NBA.
16:52You've got seven teams shooting 40.
16:54Three-pointers or more in the league right now.
16:56It's all involved.
16:57Nice job, Cormac, not to get the foul.
16:59Brown was trying to draw it on him.
17:05Oh, Usman, behind the back.
17:07Pass to Jericho.
17:09Draws the foul.
17:10And you see the play-making and the creativity of Usman Jacks.
17:14He's kind of reading where the crowd is.
17:16He's going to draw the crowd as he goes between, goes to his right, draws two defenders,
17:20and he just knows innately that Jericho is lurking down there in the dunker area.
17:26Nice job getting him the basketball.
17:31Usman's starting to move more deliberately, with more confidence making plays like that.
17:36That's something that he was a little tentative doing when he first got to Milwaukee.
17:43Okay, Darvin Hamm coaxing him up.
17:46I want to remind you that the Weekender is what it's called,
17:49the 10-game ticket package for Thursday through Sunday matchups.
17:53You can visit bucks.com slash partial.
17:56Get on board even for next year.
18:00Easter weekend, this package, a Friday, Sunday matinee against Memphis here coming up on Sunday.
18:07He's allowing Darvin Hamm to get more involved, hands-on, drawn-up, played out of timeouts.
18:15He deserves to be a head coach in the NBA and do whatever he can to help facilitate that.
18:20There's that guy again, name the dream.
18:22Cato, you're not accounting for him.
18:24He's got that kind of length to do a lot of damage on the offensive glass.
18:2813 points, he's only missed one shot.
18:31Of course, he's taken almost every shot in the restricted area.
18:34His teammates have found him.
18:36Another turnover as Brown takes it.
18:39Can't finish though.
18:43Two turnovers here for the Bucks so far this quarter.
18:48Here's Usman.
18:50He'll step it back, creeps behind that three-point line.
18:52Jericho chases it down.
18:55Jericho coming off that 20-rebound game.
18:58Career high for him.
19:01Usman driving, takes the contact off the glass.
19:04We'll have a couple free throws coming.
19:06That's exactly what Doc Rivers has encouraged him to do is drive and take the contact.
19:12To seek out the body of the big man that's out of position.
19:16You've got him at your mercy.
19:17And he's got great body control.
19:20We saw a great move against Shaftes and Goom for an and-one down in Houston.
19:24Kind of floated by him.
19:25And kind of a similar type of maneuver against the big guy, Cato, inside on that position.
19:33He got Joe Missoula.
19:35He didn't agree with that foul call.
19:37So we've got a coach's challenge here.
19:38Boston calls a timeout.
19:48The rule of the rule is being challenged.
19:52That's Sean Wright, our crew chief.
19:54Brent Barnaby, our referee.
19:55Matt Myers, our umpire.
19:58Tonight's coach's challenge brought to you by Fratern and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
20:02From the naked eye, it looked like Cato was in the restricted area.
20:05And right there, he's got both orange sneakers, I think.
20:13Ah, okay.
20:14So they're saying that the proximate foul Jericho Sims pushed him into Usman Dang.
20:21And they may have a point there.
20:22Yeah, they might.
20:26So that would be interesting.
20:28It would wipe away the free throw opportunities here for Ooze.
20:32I mean, get the ball back to the Celtics and give a foul to Sims.
20:36Yeah, Cato was trying to go vertical, but we had Jericho two hands on the hips.
20:40We'll see.
20:41The challenge on the floor is a successful challenge.
20:44Yep.
20:45As the player pushes him into the defensive player.
20:48Therefore, we will overturn the call to an offensive foul.
20:51And the clocks will remain the same, 242 and 24 on the shot clock.
20:56Now that's interesting.
20:57It would seem like they would call a foul on Jericho.
21:01Well, maybe they did.
21:02Is the offensive foul on Jericho?
21:04I thought maybe they were saying that it was going to be on Ooze, but it's on Jericho.
21:09Yeah.
21:09Okay.
21:10That's the right call.
21:17So the ball goes back to the Celtics.
21:19No free throw opportunities here for the Bucs.
21:22It's a good challenge here by Joe Missoula and company.
21:26Boston has just been, we talked about their consistency.
21:29They're consistent on the road, consistent at home.
21:32Winning records in both places doesn't matter.
21:37I'm sure you do the same.
21:38I always look at teams that are above 500, you know, to value.
21:41On the road.
21:42Look at that.
21:43A deep shot from Cato.
21:46Slowly but surely working his way back into form.
21:49One of the best to do it in the NBA.
21:52In his young career, which has turned 28 years old, I believe.
21:57A round one it falls.
21:59The first shot for Torian Prince in the first make.
22:04Some fun with the Bucs fans there on the baseline.
22:07Two, three.
22:10Largest lead has been 19.
22:12The Celtics have led the entire way here at the corner.
22:14There's a runner for Derek White.
22:16You're so good executing your offense, getting you on the move,
22:22getting you in rotation, attack, and closeouts,
22:24and making the right decision after they do.
22:27A great pass there from Usman Chan to Jericho
22:30as Luka Garza tries to retreat but commits the foul.
22:37And Tatum just step inside the low couple of steps inside,
22:42but it makes him so dangerous that it's a great pull up.
22:47So good going to the basket.
22:49Here it goes.
22:51Worked with Drew Hanlon for a number of years.
22:55The guy that Giannis is working with currently,
22:58Drew here in Milwaukee for a few days.
23:03Putting the big fella through his paces.
23:07Jericho makes good on the first.
23:13Jericho leads the league at true shooting percentage,
23:15which incorporates free throws and effective field goal percentage,
23:18which incorporates threes, which he doesn't incorporate into his game.
23:22But it'd be nice to lead the league in a stat category for the season.
23:28Yeah, how about that?
23:29Yeah, you know, that's nice.
23:30I did that win.
23:32What do you lead the league in?
23:34Offensive box plus minus.
23:36I didn't know it until someone pointed it out.
23:38Offensive box plus minus.
23:40Yeah, that's an efficiency stat.
23:42My second year in the league.
23:45Back you're in field goal percentage and all that stuff.
23:48Uh-huh.
23:50Well, congratulations.
23:51Thank you.
23:53Usman, Jay.
23:54My trophy's in the mail, right?
23:56Right.
23:57I'll make you one if that'll make you feel better.
23:59Come back Ryan, the three-pointer squeezes out.
24:02And we got a delayed whistle here.
24:06Jericho Sims with the offensive foul call.
24:12That's his third personal right underneath the basket.
24:15You see him wrapping up Luca.
24:16I mean, you know, I don't mind.
24:18You know, he plays aggressive.
24:21He plays with the level of physical intensity that you love.
24:25And sometimes you're going to get caught and get fouls called on.
24:34He's pretty good.
24:35He's been a killer.
24:36He's been on fire.
24:37Oh, man.
24:38This guy's been a killer to everyone.
24:40But that's how the Goose was isolated.
24:42Right right elbow.
24:43And Tatum is going to, you know, take advantage of this youngster at every opportunity.
24:47He's got that kind of veteran savvy with his offensive game.
24:50Nice.
24:51Touch pass.
24:52Nicely done.
24:53Gary Harris has entered.
24:55Just the last few games with personal reasons.
24:57He's back with it tonight for the Bucs.
25:00Hey!
25:01Hey!
25:02Hey!
25:02Hey!
25:03Hey!
25:03Hey!
25:17Hi!
25:17This one is a former teammate with the Clippers longtime Celtic.
25:19Great with Larry Bird teams in the early 80s.
25:23And his nickname for Luca Garza is Crash Dummy.
25:28He says he'll just throw his body into situations and give you that,
25:32that,
25:32that sense of urgency that,
25:33that,
25:34that Joe Missoula demands of this guys on the bench.
25:40I loved watching him play at Iowa.
25:42And you know,
25:42a two time Big-10 player of the year,
25:44He was a Naismith National Player of the Year.
25:47He's kind of hopped around between a few different franchises
25:50and maybe found a home.
25:51He grew up a Boston fan, so this would fit for him.
25:54Chang with a nice move, nothing but net on the jumper.
25:57Love to see him just off the dribble pull-ups in that mid-range area.
26:03Seven points for Chang, the leading scorer here for the Bucs so far.
26:06Jordan Walsh fires for the final shot of the first quarter.
26:09It's a large lead here for the Celtics,
26:12who have dominated up against Miami.
26:16So the comparative numbers,
26:17how about 96 total points in the first quarter of the last two games?
26:20Well, you know, Boston, Miami's playing at that torrent pace.
26:24Jalen Brown 20 points in the first quarter against the Heat.
26:28So it was just a scorer's paradise against the Heat,
26:32and they had not let up at all.
26:35What do you want to see on the first possession of the second quarter?
26:38A turnover and then a Tatum three-point attempt.
26:40I will say that Miami hit like ten threes in the third quarter
26:44and cut the deficit to about ten.
26:47Made it interesting.
26:48That three-point game could be the equalizer, as we know.
26:52Kyle Kuzma did the second field goal of the night.
26:55Let's see if the Bucs can do some of the same here,
26:58and it's got to start, obviously, at this end.
27:01And it's got to start protecting the basket, and then we're hitting the three.
27:06Peyton Pritchard shooting 49% the last nine games from the three-point line.
27:10Average is about 19 points a game.
27:11He is, he's been up just a perpetual thorn in our, in our, in our, in our,
27:17in our somewhere, in our foot.
27:20He's just, you don't want to thorn anywhere, no matter, no matter where it's at.
27:24Yeah.
27:25And then Pritchard, too, that was his 198th three-pointer here this season.
27:30Another turnover, just a great read by Jason Tatum,
27:33getting in the passing lane and coming up with two back-to-back steals against the Bucs.
27:38This team doesn't turn you over at all.
27:40They're one of the worst in the league at terms of fortune turnover.
27:42Pete Pritchard, this time in the pen, he's got the last five points for Boston.
27:47He's just so smart, uses every ounce of God-given ability and size and strength
27:54and everything else just to make himself a really valuable player in the Celtic rotation.
27:59Pete Nance for three, fires, hits.
28:03Pete Nance now, his first shot, actually, coming there at first points.
28:09A team-point deficit.
28:10Boston not only has done a great job shooting a three, 64%, but assisting on their buckets.
28:1513 assists on 17 buckets here so far.
28:21Stuff like that.
28:22Yeah, that's just great basketball.
28:25Luca, that's old-school basketball.
28:27Big man, seven-footer, he's got a smaller 6'4 guard on his back.
28:31Don't leave him.
28:32Don't spread out to the three-point line.
28:33Take advantage.
28:34Kyle Kuzma tips in his own miss.
28:37A couple of those tip-hits here tonight.
28:39He's got six points.
28:43But you have just been a sieve defensively the Milwaukee Bucks have.
28:49Celtics getting anything they want, whenever they want.
28:52Good, that he's on his own 8-0 run, Pete Pritchard, now that he's entered the game here.
28:58So much respect.
29:00I just didn't see this coming.
29:02I believe he'd be a role player in the NBA, but just to be this good, this substantial of a
29:08contributor to the Boston Celtics the last few years.
29:12Testimate to his hard work.
29:14Torian Prince.
29:17Some pain points here for the Bucks.
29:18They got 12 of them here tonight.
29:21Boston has an 18-12 advantage in that category, too.
29:26Good shooting for both of these teams.
29:28Three of five for Boston, four of five here for Milwaukee.
29:35The foul against Gary Harris, his first.
29:45The first team foul at the corner here for the Bucks.
30:00This is going to be a lot of fun, but now this is going to be a challenging matchup.
30:05With Peyton Pritchard to shoot the basketball right now.
30:08Think a little bit about it.
30:10So Ajax giving him a little bit of physicality.
30:14And the guy who's got the last eight points here for Boston, an eight-nothing run, a personal eight-nothing
30:19run to pick and Pritchard.
30:20Well, they're smart, so they're going to screen Pritchard and get Ajax off of him as often as possible.
30:26And then, you're going to try and get a big, this time Pete Nance, and see, he almost knocked that
30:31down.
30:34Kikarsa battling for the offensive rebound.
30:37Pritchard trying to shake Ajax.
30:40Wow.
30:41Wow.
30:43Peyton Pritchard, all 6-2 of him.
30:466-2, 2-11.
30:47So he's strong.
30:48A little bowling ball inside, but you saw him push off initially.
30:51And once Ajax closed the gap, the step through was beautiful.
30:55He knocked all the pins down, too.
30:58Bowling ball.
30:59I like that description.
31:02All the pins, all the spare, and everything it was had knocked down.
31:06It was a strike for Peyton Pritchard.
31:08That's a strike for Torian Prince.
31:13TP two for, three for three with seven points.
31:19To a diving, Luka Garza deflected.
31:24Torian Prince out and running.
31:26Has him on the left.
31:27If Kuz wants to use him, jumps it off to Ajax.
31:30That little push shot that he's developed.
31:32And Boston now calls a timeout.
31:37Oh, the bowling ball running down the alley, Marcus.
31:40Nice job with the crossover.
31:42A-M-F, step through, finish.
31:45Beautiful job.
31:47Play to come up with a steal for the Celtics.
31:50Just reading and reacting and getting into the passing lane with your hands up.
31:56Two steals for Tatum, two steals for Brown.
31:59Those are the four steals here for the Celtics so far.
32:03Second quarter, good shooting by both of these teams.
32:06Six of seven for the Bucs.
32:08They're making six of nine and another bucket for that guy.
32:11A little pistol action handoff on the right side of the floor.
32:16And Pete Nance just slow switching.
32:18And it's a foul call there at Kyle Kuzma.
32:22Another turnover, another loss of possession.
32:24But trying to generate some momentum.
32:28And, yeah, I mean, you're moving.
32:30You're not giving that defender a chance to change direction.
32:33It's almost like a collision.
32:36Get a screen.
32:40It's a tough match there for a few minutes.
32:42Pick it so low to the ground so quick.
32:46Makes me nervous because this guy's had a quiet night.
32:49Oh, Cormac Bryant, I'm sorry.
32:51Go to C-Mac.
32:53Getting up a little bit.
32:56That lower Manhattan attitude right there.
32:59Gets beat off the dribble, doesn't quit on the play.
33:01Gives an extra effort.
33:07Richard missing everything.
33:09Take more of those points.
33:15Another turnover.
33:17Seven of them.
33:39He just bully-balled Cormac Bryant on that possession.
33:43Didn't finish off the play.
33:44But, you know, props to Cormac.
33:46He didn't back down.
33:47He stayed in position just enough to contest Brown into a miss.
33:53Incredibly strong guard.
33:566'6", 237.
33:59And guard and name only as far as I'm concerned.
34:02You know what I mean?
34:02It's like the only reason you call him a guard
34:04is because Tatum is your other small forward out there.
34:08That's nice footwork.
34:09Yeah.
34:10The reverse falls.
34:11I said that makes me nervous
34:12because he was like one for five before that bucket.
34:15It was just four points.
34:17He's going to get his shots up.
34:19He's taking 29 field goal to take the last couple games.
34:23So the fouls for Cal Kuzma.
34:26Well, Jalen Brown's nearly averaging,
34:27as you brought up, 29 points per game.
34:30There's going to be some more coming here tonight.
34:32You know it.
34:35It's always been Tatum with the usage.
34:38Good job, Tatum.
34:45Ajax almost swapped with it.
34:47The Corvette Ryan back to Ajax.
34:49Splits the tap.
34:50But it's nearly flipped it up for a beautiful finish.
34:53It gets good.
34:53You know how you're going to have to play.
34:54Just got to play fast.
34:56Got to look to get in transition early.
34:58Take the first open three.
35:00Uh-oh.
35:00Pritchard left is wide open.
35:01One of his rare misses.
35:03Two wide open.
35:04You got to play fast if you're the Bucs.
35:06It's a Celtic team.
35:07They got to mix the last in pace.
35:08They like to be more deliberate in style.
35:1618-point advantage here for Boston.
35:20Ajax now will test his defensive talents against Brown.
35:25Commits the foul.
35:26Yeah, that's just respect for Jalen Brown
35:28and who he is as an NBA player.
35:31Who he has emerged to be as an NBA player this season.
35:40He's taking his leadership position seriously.
35:43He knows all the Zodiac signs and Chinese New Year signs of his teammates.
35:49He can communicate better with them.
35:56He's good on the first free throw.
35:58It's time for a quick word from Tri-City National Bank.
36:01Every customer is our champ on the trailhead.
36:05Monthly checking fees are our favorite to shred.
36:08Tri-City, your hometown bank.
36:11Yeah, you brought that up.
36:12Melanie Ricks was the first to find that story about the Chinese Zodiacs and neurology that
36:19he was looking into his teammates.
36:20It affects their personality traits, how he communicates with their teammates.
36:24Mel, you dug up something really interesting.
36:28Yeah, Lisa.
36:29Well, first off, I'm really into this stuff.
36:31So, when I first saw the article, I got very excited about it and I learned a lot myself.
36:38That was an offensive foul on the Bucs.
36:41Jalen Brown, that was on Miles Turner to be exact.
36:43But Jalen Brown, he explained how it was important to him to memorize all his teammates' astrology
36:48and numerology so that he could better learn how to communicate with them.
36:51And he said, so Derek White, for example, he's the year of the dog and his communication
36:55style is going to be different from Peyton, who's a tiger.
36:58But JT is also a tiger.
37:00And so, some of them, of course, they do have similar communication styles.
37:03And he said, this is how I can understand what makes them tick, how I can communicate
37:08as effectively as possible.
37:10And Joe Mazzula, he actually commended this.
37:13And he said, Jalen Brown's approach to leadership this year, has been getting to know his teammates,
37:18understanding how to push his teammates' buttons.
37:20And I'm the kind of coach that wants that.
37:22So, he's doing exactly what his coach wants him to do, Lisa.
37:25Look, whatever works, right?
37:26And it's communication styles, whatever has been working for the Celtics.
37:30We took it a step further.
37:31I'm a fire dragon.
37:33I like the names of these.
37:34And you're a what?
37:36Marcus?
37:38Uh, would go something.
37:40No idea what it would go to.
37:42Yes.
37:43The Celtics' first turnover of the night.
37:47Oh, yes.
37:47I didn't get it.
37:48Yeah, yeah.
37:49But I felt like a lot of the personality traits were on par.
37:54Yes, you see, that's how times have changed.
37:56Back in my day, we just had a good night out at Studio 54.
38:00We found out all the personality traits you wanted to see.
38:04Who's a good goat?
38:05Who's a fire dragon?
38:08Who's the dog?
38:10Who's the tiger?
38:12And who's a combination dog-tiger?
38:14The tiger.
38:15Times have changed, Marcus.
38:17You sit on your phone, you Google personality traits of your teammates.
38:22I think I like our way better, though.
38:24It was a lot more fun.
38:30You had the nerve to ask Princess Stephanie to dance.
38:33It was like, that was a tiger.
38:37Shoulder shake there for Brown.
38:40Next it is.
38:40And Jalen Brown now with double figures with 10.
38:43He's coming.
38:43You know, there's a reason why he averages 29 a game.
38:46You talked about him.
38:47You know, that's the scary thing with the slow start.
38:49He's got to make up for it because, you know, he's got to keep shooting.
38:52Pete, that's what keeps shooting.
38:54This is that attempt.
38:55Hit his first three-pointer.
38:57All right, about three and a half left to play here in the first half.
39:00Just joining us.
39:01The Celtics had another big first quarter.
39:04This guy.
39:05Starting to heat up a little bit.
39:0713 points now for Brown.
39:10What is he, Melanie?
39:11What is David?
39:12What is David Brown?
39:13What is this?
39:13What is this Zodiac?
39:16He's interested to know that.
39:17He knows everybody else's.
39:19Tommy Ricks, tightening it out, trying to figure it out.
39:22He'll hold it in.
39:22Kyle Kuzma now as far as his three-point shot.
39:28The Celtics are just so efficient scoring at this end of the road.
39:33Oh, okay.
39:35A one-legged runner from the top of the key.
39:38He's feeling really good about himself.
39:39It's like a whippy shot.
39:42Mel, you found it?
39:43You found the answer?
39:44I sure did.
39:45He's a rat sign.
39:47So, maybe...
39:48No, I don't even get me started.
39:50A fire rat to be specific.
39:53Okay.
39:55Speaking of fire, Pete Nance is firing away from distance.
39:59It just sounds different when you put fire in front of, like, dragon and foot of rat.
40:05Now it's Turner with the deflection.
40:09Time out.
40:12Pete Nance got some cheese for that rat.
40:15Oh, yeah.
40:16Time out here at 5-7.
40:23Courtesy of Glover.
40:29On Tuesday night, with this made free throw, Alex Antetokounmpo made his first NBA basket.
40:38The Antetokounmpo brothers making history, becoming the first three siblings to play on the same active NBA roster.
40:46Let's check out Bucs TV for Bucs brothers featuring Giannis and the Nassas.
40:51Oh, yes.
40:54Future, you know, Ramon Sessions was like 6-3.
40:58This is 6-10, 2-20.
41:00Handling the basketball.
41:02Dishing out assists.
41:03Dunking on people.
41:05He's got a really bright future this league.
41:09Wow, Taylor Brown, what a move for the ticket for Kato, who's making a living off the glass here tonight.
41:1515 points.
41:16Pete Nance releases to try and challenge the shot by Jaden Brown.
41:20Nobody there to put a body on the dream, and he's been really good at just kind of cleaning up
41:27the mess.
41:27He's got three offensive rebounds here so far.
41:30Kato does.
41:32And the Celtics putting up 70 points here in the first half.
41:36They're 96 combined points, by the way, when we talked about it in the first quarter.
41:40We can go back to Wednesday against Miami and then what they're doing tonight.
41:44Never before, you think about the great Celtics teams, never before have you combined first quarters, back-to-back games.
41:5296 points.
41:53That's the most.
41:55Puts in perspective what this team is capable of doing.
42:01So they've been getting off to some really, really good starts.
42:04There's a sidestep three look for Tatum.
42:17There's a couple of those.
42:20So now for the Celtics, it's all about getting that beautiful.
42:24Tatum, how's your great back cut defense falls asleep?
42:29Tatum was so good with that one-handed bullet.
42:33Whether it's out of a zone office right there in a semi-transition,
42:37they're just gearing up for the playoffs.
42:39They want to just be a, they look like a just a smooth operating machine right now, both ends on
42:44the floor.
42:45That's just passed by Tatum, off the dribble right there.
42:48He's going to follow Hauser all the way and then just whips that thing right by the ear of Keita
42:54and right through the seam into his waiting hand.
42:58Even though he's flirting with a triple-double again,
43:01turn off of a Wednesday against Miami.
43:03That was the first triple-double of the season, the fifth of his career.
43:06I'm actually kind of surprised that he'd only had five in his career.
43:10But his numbers tonight, Marcus, 11 points, eight assists already,
43:14five rebounds.
43:15Well, and so that's high IQ basketball on his part.
43:20You know, the keys have been handed over to Jalen Brown,
43:24at least for this season, in terms of, you know, who's the guy offensively.
43:28You know, who's going to take the bulk of the shots?
43:29Jalen Brown, as I mentioned, 29 field goal attempts the last couple of games.
43:33So Jason Tatum's all about kind of, you know, fitting in where you can get in right now,
43:37just making this team a better basketball team because of your presence.
43:40Don't be a disruption.
43:43And the pump foul there for Brown and Ryan went to, like, two rows there on the baseline.
43:50Come on, John.
43:52Seed back.
43:54Oh, he stumbled at the very end and lost his balance.
43:57Look at the fans.
43:58He's got to get out of his way so he can't.
44:01It's his way out, back on the court.
44:05Did he get pushed at the end here?
44:06Oh, there's a little bit of a shed from the howl by Jalen Brown.
44:15The camera's on the baseline, through the first row on the baseline.
44:19Here he comes.
44:26And a technical foul on Jalen Brown.
44:36One more look at it.
44:38The egregious push from behind.
44:41Just a, I mean, a little bump there.
44:43And there's a whistle that's blown and then just an aggressive shove that puts him in Bob Euker territory.
45:01So I asked him about the name Cormac.
45:04Where did you get that name from?
45:06And he told me that his parents just saw it.
45:09So there was an author, Cormac McCarthy.
45:12And they just saw it and liked it and, and, and, and, and his family name or what?
45:17Is it not?
45:17He just saw it and liked it and, and, and decided to name me after this author, Cormac McCarthy.
45:21I looked up for him at McCarthy and he, he wrote a book called No Country for Old Men, which
45:25was a great film.
45:26The Tony D. Jones, a little bit of them.
45:28And the Coen Brothers did it.
45:33No Country for Old Men.
45:34I'm laughing because you've got like, like, 8,000 new stories on Cormac McCarthy.
45:39I just happen to run into him all the time.
45:41And when I run into him, I got a talk to him.
45:43I was asking him about that Tom Brady story.
45:45Like, the food line or something?
45:47No, just, you know, just kind of using, chilling in the gym, watching the coaches play three on three.
45:54Well, he picks up an assist there, Kyle Kuzma with another three-pointer.
45:58He's got a couple of them here tonight.
46:0014 points here to leave the box.
46:02He's like, Ryan, second assist of it.
46:04He's excited that he'll hit play for the same AAU team as Pat Connaughton.
46:08He's like, Pat is my guy.
46:09You know, we didn't play together, but he was like one of my writers coming up.
46:13Listen, what he was able to do, maybe if I went to Notre Dame after, after leaving Stanford.
46:17Who knows?
46:18You didn't get to that point in your conversation?
46:20I missed it, too.
46:21I think there'll be a part two.
46:22Tomorrow, tomorrow.
46:23Come on back, Ryan.
46:24Come on.
46:25Come on.
46:25Come on.
46:26All right.
46:27It's a 20-point deficit here at the half.
46:30Coming up at the half.
46:31It's power by you.
