C.J. Jackson, the man who murdered Michael's predecessor at the
Foundation, breaks out of jail with help from a Self destruct robot
disguised as a radio and a drone car.

The masterminds behind his escape, David Halston and Margo Sheridan, are gathering a team to stage a break-in of a San Francisco vault.

Michael and Devon ask Bonnie, who is studying at the university there to help them on this case. Her mentor at the university just happens to be David Halston.

05:43Get in.
05:44I said get in.
06:02Welcome my friend, meet in person soon enough.
06:05Now, sit back, relax, leave the driving to us.
06:32A single step was trouble for the fool who stumbled on it.
06:38Eyes within the dark were watching.
06:41I felt a sudden chill of danger.
06:46Something told me keep on walking.
06:48Told me I should not have gone there.
06:53Cause you look me like a knife.
06:57Without your love in my life.
07:00I'm up, up walking tonight.
07:03Cause I just can't stop this feeling.
07:08It's torture.
07:12It's torture.
07:15It's torture.
07:43Just think of it, pal.
07:45An hour from now, I'll be sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge.
07:49Challenging the winds, riding the high seas.
07:51If memory serves me right, Captain Lye, and I'm sure it does.
07:55The last time you went sailing, your boat sprung a leak.
07:58And the Coast Guard had to tow you in.
08:00In case you don't remember.
08:02I remember.
08:03I remember.
08:04But it didn't spring a leak.
08:05It was taken on water.
08:06And it wasn't my fault the bilge pump broke down anyway.
08:09Blame whoever you like, Michael.
08:11But the fact remains, you came back one hour later soaking wet.
08:16You know, I'm sure glad you weren't around when Columbus sailed for America.
08:20Devin's calling.
08:22Good morning, Michael.
08:23Morning, Devin.
08:24From your position, you're about ten minutes away from the Santa Clara Penitentiary.
08:28No, wrong.
08:29I'm only two minutes away from renting a sailboat.
08:32An adventure I've been looking forward to for about two months now.
08:35Michael.
08:37All right, what's up?
08:38This is top priority.
08:40A prisoner named C.J. Jackson has just escaped.
08:43I want you to help the police in any way possible.
08:47Devin, you look very concerned.
08:49Who is this guy, Jackson, anyway?
08:51This is not just another escaped prisoner, Michael.
08:54This touches the very heart and soul of the Foundation.
08:56What's that mean?
08:58Michael, please, trust me on this, will you?
09:01Okay, we're on.
09:03All right, kid.
09:04Pack this into the police frequency, and let's see if we can get a fix on the getaway car.
09:20Feeling better?
09:23I'll feel better when I'm safe.
09:25When I'm safe and I know who you are and what you want.
09:27In due time, my friend, in due time.
09:30I don't have no friends.
09:31I do business.
09:32If you want to do business with me, don't call me friend or brother.
09:35As you wish, C.J.
09:38This one looks like it could be trouble.
09:40Well, that's part of the fun.
09:50Hi, sugar.
09:51I think you're going my way.
10:00Now for phase two.
10:19Michael, I've been monitoring the police van, and the suspect vehicle has been spotted heading north towards the Haight-Ashbury
10:25district.
10:26Good work, buddy.
10:27All right, kid.
10:28Let's see if we can pick him up on your infrared tracking scope.
10:34Good work, pal.
10:36As the saying goes, let's head him off at the pass.
10:39Your passive laser restraint system on, Michael.
10:41I wouldn't drive without him.
10:51Michael, there he is.
10:53I got you, pal.
11:15Michael!
11:15Michael, why aren't we overtaking him?
11:18It's too risky in here, kid.
11:20I don't want him getting desperate.
11:21Not yet.
11:22We'll pick the place.
11:23Hey.
11:34Nice ball!
11:36...
11:39...
11:40...
11:43...
11:43...
12:14All right, Ken, time to move in.
12:33Be careful, Michael.
12:35I hear you.
12:44Do you have any idea who he is?
12:46No such luck.
12:48Kit, there's no one inside here.
12:50Michael, that's impossible.
12:51A car doesn't drive by itself.
12:53Doesn't it?
12:57Tell me about it.
13:36Welcome, Mr. Jackson.
13:37I hope your trip here wasn't too uncomfortable.
13:40Well, I have been on worse trips in my life.
13:43Yes, I'm sure you have.
13:46My name is Margo.
13:48This is David Halston, the genius who engineered your escape.
13:54Those two over there are Clifton and Turk.
13:56But don't worry.
13:57I don't let them in my house unless it rains.
14:01Babette, why don't you get Mr. Jackson a glass of champagne?
14:04You do like champagne, don't you, CJ?
14:06Oh, I used to drink it all the time in my cell.
14:09Those days are over, CJ.
14:11We've given you your freedom, and soon we're going to give you even more.
14:15There is no more.
14:17Sure there is.
14:18There's the money it takes for a man like you to stay free.
14:22CJ, we're going to guarantee your freedom by making you very rich.
14:26And what do I have to do for it?
14:29Do for it?
14:30You heard me.
14:31I spent half of my life behind bars.
14:34There's one thing I learned that nobody gives anything for nothing.
14:37You're right, CJ.
14:39I do want something from you.
14:41But I don't intend to tell you what it is until I'm ready.
14:44Now, you have two choices.
14:46You can leave and try making it on your own.
14:50Or you can stay and definitely make it with us.
15:04Well, now that that's taken care of,
15:10to the beginning of a beautiful and prosperous relationship.
15:24Michael, you don't believe this nonsense about a robot, do you?
15:27Devin, after seeing the way that car handled by itself, I'm afraid I do.
15:32Any ideas?
15:33Only one.
15:34What?
15:34Too bad Bonnie's not around.
15:36Didn't I tell you?
15:37Why?
15:37She is.
15:38She's taking advanced studies at the university here.
15:40No kidding?
15:41Did you talk to her?
15:41Yes.
15:43And if you're wondering why I haven't asked her to return to the foundation, I have.
15:47Her answer was no.
15:49A very polite but firm no.
15:52Devin, who is this CJ Jackson?
15:54What does he have to do with the heart and soul of the foundation?
15:56Michael, before Wilton Knight discovered you, we had another man in your position.
16:01His name was Ken Franklin.
16:02He had all the qualifications.
16:04Well, all except one.
16:05He wasn't a police officer.
16:08One night, several years ago, I remember it was raining, most unusual for the time of year.
16:15Franklin had been tailing Jackson.
16:17He was convinced that Jackson hadn't made him.
16:19But he was wrong.
16:22Jackson killed him?
16:24One bullet did it.
16:25But Jackson shot him five more times.
16:29We all took the tragic loss very hard, but no one harder than Wilton Knight.
16:33He closed the foundation, put the entire flag project on hold, and didn't reactivate it until we found you.
16:41Jackson belongs in jail, Michael.
16:43Wilton Knight will not rest easily until he's back behind bars.
16:47Nor will I.
16:50All right, Devin, that makes three of us.
16:54This one's for Wilton, huh?
16:56Good luck, Michael.
16:56Thanks, Tom.
16:59Thanks, Tom.
17:55Are you Ho Chin?
17:56Yes.
17:57How may I be of service?
17:59Yeah, here you have some maps, some old maps of the tunnels your people dug under the city years ago.
18:04Ah, yes.
18:05Are you from the university?
18:08Yeah.
18:09Associate professors.
18:10You think I could see them just for a minute?
18:13They're not for sale.
18:15They have been in our family many, many years.
18:18I'd like to look at them for a minute.
18:23Come at me.
18:40Come at me.
18:53Let's go.
19:05He's hitting him with a right, a left, another left to the midsection.
19:10That one hurt him.
19:12Well, there's no question about it, Lucas.
19:14Where's the Peking duck?
19:15Uh, say what?
19:17The Peking duck, you idiot.
19:19Oh, that duck.
19:21It's coming right up.
19:22I thought you said you were a chef.
19:23I am a chef.
19:25I am a great chef.
19:27I'm, uh, just a little bit rusty, that's all.
19:30All you do is bet, sports, and gamble.
19:32I'm a great chef who bets, sports, and gambles.
19:34Now, uh, now watch out.
19:36Really hot.
19:39If you lie to me, I'll break every bone in your body.
19:43Now, where's the Fong Delight?
19:45Ah, ha, ha, ha.
19:47Wong Delight.
19:48Fong Delight.
19:50Anything made in this kitchen bears my name.
19:53My name's Fong.
19:54Yours is Wong.
19:55Mine's Fong.
19:57Now, out of my way.
20:05Say what?
20:13Michael, where are we going?
20:15To see an old friend, pal.
20:17I thought this case was top priority.
20:20It is.
20:21Hoping this old friend can help us out.
20:23Where are we going to see this old friend?
20:25North Beach.
20:26Fight your tongue, pal.
20:28The university.
20:29Lock me the fastest route, will ya?
20:31Yes, sir.
20:37You.
20:39Me.
20:40Out.
20:41Out?
20:41Hey.
20:42Hey, what did I do?
20:44What did I...
20:44Hey, I'm warning you.
20:46Yeah, I'm warning you.
20:46Don't come any closer.
20:48That's right, you see.
20:49Because I'm a black belt.
20:50That's right, a black belt.
20:52I fought Bruce Lee to a standstill.
20:54I fought...
20:54Hey, if I see you again, I'll slit your throat.
20:57Hey, hey, hey, hey.
21:00Hey, hey, hey.
21:01Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
21:05Oh, that.
21:06Ha, thank you.
21:23You.
21:24Hello, Peter.
21:24Need a lift?
21:28Me?
21:29You.
21:31Uh, why?
21:34Why not?
21:51Toy ship.
21:52Chinese jerk.
21:54Hey, get rid of it.
22:01Hey, get rid of it.
22:39Oh, excuse me.
22:40I was wondering if I could get a ill student loan.
22:43I think you're in the wrong department.
22:46Yeah, well, I bet Devin you'd return after a year and you did.
22:49Oh!
22:51Hi, Bonnie.
22:53Woo!
22:53Is it good to see you again?
22:56Broke as usual?
22:57Some things never change.
22:58What are you doing here?
22:59Let me look at you.
23:01You're still tall.
23:03And you're still beautiful.
23:05How's Devin?
23:06British as ever.
23:07As a matter of fact, he sends his love.
23:10Uh-huh.
23:10Then he knows you're here.
23:11Michael, if this is something to do with the foundation or a case, we've been through all that.
23:15This is different.
23:16They're all different.
23:16Michael, no.
23:17Bonnie, C.J. Jackson escaped from prison.
23:20He had some help.
23:21C.J. Jackson?
23:22Yeah.
23:24I leave for Boston on Thursday.
23:26Someone went to a lot of trouble.
23:27They designed a self-destruct robot to work it from the inside and a drone car to work it from
23:32the outside.
23:32MIT is presenting two research projects for funding.
23:35Only one of them will be approved.
23:36This is the drone car's computer processing unit.
23:38One of them, thanks to my mentor, is mine.
23:41Bonnie, I'm not asking you to sign up for a tour of duty.
23:44Just help us find C.J. Jackson.
23:45No obligations, no contracts, no promises.
23:51You're trying to tempt me.
23:54How am I doing?
23:57No contracts, no obligations.
24:01Scout's honor.
24:04Oh, we missed you, boy.
24:06We missed you.
24:15Oh, we missed you.
24:39You know exactly what we need.
24:40You're sure the old man won't tell anyone?
24:42Only his ancestor.
24:45Good boys.
24:47Now, why don't you go outside and chase some rabbits?
24:50Yeah, but...
24:51Don't worry, Clifton.
24:52We'll play later.
25:00Don't take boo to him or he'll run.
25:05You a sleep, Abe?
25:06You know it, Mama.
25:09Hello, Peter.
25:10I'm Margo, and this is David Halston and C.J. Jackson.
25:14Hey, you one of those martial arts dudes, man?
25:17Me?
25:18Oh, no.
25:19Why?
25:20Do I look like one?
25:22No.
25:26Look, what is this all about?
25:28Relax, Peter.
25:30We just want to make use of your extraordinary talents.
25:33My talents.
25:34I was one of the best wiremen in the business.
25:36Oh, that was in my past.
25:39Now, see, I'm trying to go clean now.
25:41I'm a chef.
25:43Peter, as a chef, you couldn't heat up a frozen egg roll.
25:46Now, why don't you just be a good little boy
25:49and let Margo decide what's best for you?
25:53Hmm?
26:01That's a computer, not a sofa.
26:04Hmm?
26:04Oh, I was wondering why that thing was so hard.
26:09How's it coming?
26:11Put it this way.
26:13If it was a murder mystery, Sherlock would call it a tough case.
26:17Whoever created this little monster sure knew what he was doing.
26:21Take a look.
26:24Hmm.
26:26Don't you ever sleep?
26:28Dr. Halston.
26:29How many times do I have to tell you it's David, D-A-V-I-D?
26:33David Halston.
26:35Michael Knight.
26:35I'm sorry.
26:36I should have introduced you.
26:37Michael's an old friend.
26:38We used to work together.
26:39Really?
26:39What kind of work do you do, Michael?
26:41I'm with a nonprofit organization.
26:43Don't be so mysterious.
26:44He works for the Foundation for Law and Government.
26:46Sounds exciting.
26:48Well, it has its moments.
26:53Project for class?
26:54No, I hope you don't mind.
26:56It's something Michael wanted some help with.
26:58I see.
27:00I'll make you a deal.
27:01Since Bonnie is helping you, you can help me.
27:04Uh, I don't think so.
27:05I'm kind of on a tight schedule.
27:07Good.
27:07So am I.
27:08It won't take five minutes.
27:09Uh...
27:09Go ahead, Michael.
27:10I'm going to be here for a while anyway.
27:13All right.
27:22All right.
27:26There.
27:27Oh, finished.
27:28How do you feel?
27:29Ah, like a guinea pig.
27:31That's exactly what you are.
27:33I'm doing a computerized project on pain, from inception to threshold.
27:38Don't worry.
27:39You can abort any time you choose by stepping on that button there in front of your chair.
27:43If that's not enough, I'm wired in, just as you are.
27:45I'll feel everything that you feel, and believe me, I'm not a masochist.
27:49Are you ready?
27:50Uh, uh, wait a minute.
27:51What am I supposed to do?
27:53Feel the pain?
27:57Until...
27:57Until one of us aborts.
28:00Why do I feel like this is some sort of contest?
28:04Well, perhaps it's just your competitive nature.
28:07You ready?
28:33You ready?
28:54Stay right there.
28:55I'm going to strap you.
28:59How come you're not sweating?
29:01I never do.
29:03Let's see.
29:06I didn't feel any pain.
29:08Maybe it's because you forgot to hook up your wires.
29:11Imagine that.
29:13Still, you make an excellent subject.
29:16Dr. Halston,
29:18you try something like that again,
29:20it'd be a big mistake.
29:33Good night.
29:35Good night.
29:37Good night.
29:41Who is this character Halston, anyway?
29:45My mentor?
29:46My mentor.
29:46You have no idea how much he's helped me with my project.
29:49I think I've got something.
29:51I think I've got something.
29:51Good night.
30:15The drone CPU did what, Michael?
30:19It's integrated, right before our eyes.
30:21What do you make of it?
30:23I don't know, Devin.
30:24I don't know what to make of a lot of things.
30:27Any leads on this guy, Jackson?
30:29Nothing, I'm afraid.
30:31In prison, he was a loner.
30:32No gang affiliations, no friends, no mail in over two years.
30:36So the only thing we know for sure about this guy is that he's a box man.
30:40One of the best, apparently.
30:41Show him a safe, and he'll find a way into it.
30:44Okay, Devin.
30:45You know how to find me.
30:48Michael, I may have something.
30:50What is it?
30:51I've been monitoring the police frequency, as you requested.
30:54There was a fire yesterday at Fang's China Trader restaurant.
30:57Arson investigators traced it to a piece of melted-down plastic
31:01containing traces of acid,
31:02identical to those found in the radio at the prison.
31:05All right, let's hit it!
31:25Now, come over here, and get ready for the piece de resistance.
31:40David, you're not at the university.
31:42Get on with it.
31:49Observe.
32:03Excellent.
32:05Congratulations, David.
32:07As you can see, we are virtually indestructible.
32:10Untouchable.
32:12You said we'd also be rich.
32:14I did say that, didn't I?
32:16So we shall.
32:18Turk!
32:23Marco, for God's sake.
32:32Gentlemen, I present to you the object of this very special endeavor.
32:46Oh, that's, uh, that's Federal Reserve.
32:49So it is.
32:50The main vault contains between 15 and 20 million dollars, depending on the day.
32:55And you're crazy.
32:55Nobody hits the Federal Reserve.
32:57Nobody.
32:58I bet you said the same thing about breaking out of solitary until yesterday.
33:02CJ, you're the best box man in the business.
33:04Believe me, I know.
33:05I've checked you out thoroughly.
33:06And Peter, you're the premier wireman.
33:08You can handle the most sophisticated security systems in operation today.
33:12Yeah, yeah, but, uh, but I quit.
33:15I'm through, remember?
33:16Yeah, I don't do that stuff anymore.
33:18Didn't, Peter, didn't.
33:20Until someone offered you 25% of 15 to 20 million dollars.
33:26You know what?
33:28What?
33:29You just came out of retirement.
33:31Since you put it that way, maybe, uh, one more time.
33:35Yeah, but, uh, but, but I need my equipment, my stuff.
33:37I built it myself.
33:39Where is it?
33:40Well, it's my apartment.
33:41How long will it take you to get it?
33:43Half hour, hour at most?
33:45No, Peter.
33:46A half hour at the most.
34:1320,000 from the mahjong parlor.
34:1715,000 from the den of rarefied presents.
34:227,500 from the ladies who travel a light.
34:24Not bad for Monday.
34:26Mr. Fong.
34:28Excuse me, I'm sorry to bust in on you like this.
34:30Who are you?
34:31My name is Michael Light.
34:32I work for the Foundation for Law and Governance.
34:34Get him!
34:35Oh, my God!
34:37Oh, yeah!
34:41Oh, yeah!
34:43Oh, yeah!
34:45Oh, yeah!

35:23Oh, yeah!
35:24Oh, yeah!
35:24Hey, Kit, I need you.
35:28Michael, it's two against one. Have they no sense of fair play?
35:32I don't think so.
35:33All right, you two overgrown beansprouts, take a hike.
35:36I don't think they understand the language.
35:38Very well.
35:57Are you ready to talk?
35:58Anything, anything you want to know.
36:00All right. Tell me about the fire last night.
36:03Fire? You want to know about the fire? Why didn't you just ask?
36:08I tried, but you and the Eggroll brothers over here
36:11obviously had something else on your minds.
36:13Now, what about the fire?
36:15He started it. That idiot chef and his radio.
36:18His radio? Looked like a robot?
36:21Yes, how did you know?
36:23We tossed it in the trash. Next thing I know, the kitchen's on fire.
36:26My kitchen's on fire. I looked out,
36:28and I saw my idiot chef being picked up by a silver phantom car.
36:32His chef? You know his name?
36:34His name's Peter Wong. This was some gal on Bay Street.
36:38A place called The Ramparts.
36:43Say goodbye to your friends, Kit.
36:45Hey, ho-ha.
36:57The Ramparts.
36:58But why, Peter?
36:59You've managed to stay out of trouble for over a year now.
37:02Out of trouble and out of money.
37:04Look, Su Lin, I want to be able to buy you presents.
37:08Nice jewelry, clothes, all the pretty things that you deserve.
37:11But all I want is you.
37:14Besides, you'll be rich someday. I know it.
37:17Well, how, huh? By, uh, stuffing fortune cookies?
37:21No, you're a great chef. You created Wong's Delight.
37:25Yeah, well, I created Wong's Delight by working for Fong,
37:29and that makes it Fong's Delight.
37:31Now, Su Lin, the only way I'm gonna be rich is if I just do this one last job.
37:35And if you get caught? And if they send you back into prison again?
37:41Hey, I'm not gonna get caught.
37:45And I promise you, Su Lin, no one will separate us again.
37:50You promise?
38:02Well, here we are.
38:08Looks like I've got everything.
38:10Peter!
38:14For one last job. I promise.
38:22I love you.
38:25I'm afraid.
38:27Don't be.
38:28Just remember, you haven't seen me.
38:37Who is it?
38:38My name is Michael Knight. I'm looking for Peter Wong.
38:43He's not here.
38:44Can I talk to you for a minute? It's very important.
38:51Yes.
38:53Do you know where he is?
38:55Uh, he hasn't been here for two days.
38:58You're sure of that?
38:59Yes.
39:01Yeah, kid, what is it?
39:01Someone left the apartment.
39:03Meet me around back. Excuse me.
39:41You got him on your scanner, buddy?
39:42He was picked up by that silver phantom that Fong told us about.
39:46All right, let's get him.
40:01Who are you? What do you want?
40:04It's not important who we are.
40:05What we want is your silence.
40:09Michael, aren't we going to apprehend him?
40:12Not yet. I want to see where he's going.
40:19Michael, what on earth are those bells?
40:22And what on earth is that thing with people hanging out of it?
40:27It's a cable car, kid.
40:29Well, right now, it's in our way, and there's no room to turbo boost over it.
40:46All right, let's try and pick him up.
40:49I'm sorry, Michael.
40:50Oh, it's okay, pal.
40:52You got a license plate number for me?
40:55166-UEA, British plates.
40:58All right, pal. That's all we need. That's all we need.
41:13We gain access here. We stay in the main tunnel for 480 feet.
41:18That brings us parallel to the main vault.
41:20You shouldn't have to cut through more than 25 feet to reach it.
41:23That's solid rock.
41:25The bigger the dream, CJ.
41:28Do you really have to smoke that thing?
41:31I'm practicing for when I'm rich.
41:35Relax.
41:54Hi.
41:55Yes?
41:56You Margo Sheridan?
41:58Possibly. Why?
41:59Name's Michael Knight. I work for the Foundation for Law and Government.
42:02I gave at the office.
42:04Yeah. Well, do you own a Silver Phantom license plate, 166-UEA?
42:10Why?
42:11Well, if you do, I'd like to talk to you for a minute. Do you mind if I come in?
42:16I'll hold you to your word. One minute.
42:19Thanks.
42:24Nice house. Just the right amount of pretentiousness.
42:27I feel better knowing you like it.
42:30Now, what can I do for you?
42:32Your Silver Phantom.
42:33Ah, yes.
42:34Well, unfortunately, it was stolen from my garage sometime last night.
42:38Did you report it to the police?
42:40No, I'm afraid I didn't.
42:42What's one Silver Phantom, more or less?
42:44I'm touched by your concern for my personal property.
42:49It's hard to get these days.
42:52Silver Phantoms?
42:53No, Cuban cigars.
42:55That is what I smell, isn't it?
42:57Or is it Jamaican?
42:59You mind if I use your bathroom?
43:01Mr. Knight?
43:02Mr. Knight, where do you think you're going?
43:08Dr. Halston?
43:10What a surprise.
43:12I guess this is what is known as private lessons, huh?
43:16Marco and I are old friends.
43:18Your minute is up.
43:23Oh, yes.
43:25Well, I'm sorry if I disturbed you.
43:27Not at all.
43:28Incidentally, you're right.
43:29It is Cuban.
43:30Cuban?
43:32Well, I know that I just got here, guys, but it really must be going.
43:37Don't tell me.
43:38I know.
43:39It's back to the old books again.
43:41How did you know?
43:43ESP.
43:44I do hate to rush you.
43:46You've livened up an otherwise dull afternoon.
43:48Perhaps another time.
43:50It's a crazy world.
43:52Yes, isn't it?
43:57What was all that about and how did he get here?
44:00How isn't important.
44:01I want him to kill David.
44:03And I know just how I want to do it.
44:28It's fun.
44:41Maybe you'll sound outside the door.
44:42I would buy it so fast.
44:43Well.
44:48That's where he knows.
44:48It's good.
44:49It's a heavy one.
44:49Hereford's housekeeping.
44:49Said, Sure.
