00:01...studios, once the home of such great movies as Oliver, The African Queen, and Room at the Top.
00:08Well, a few years ago, this studio complex was due for closure,
00:11and it seemed like one of the mainstays of the British film industry was due for imminent collapse.
00:17But...
00:29And this is the boardroom of the Who Group Limited.
00:38Nicky. In fact, I'm Keith Moon, public relations director, and in charge of advertising.
00:48Special effects. Et cetera, et cetera.
00:51Et cetera. Tell me, Keith, who first had the idea of The Who coming down to Shepparton?
00:56Well, it was a corporate idea. The four of us had been involved,
01:03had been interested in the film side of the business, through our association with Ken Russell,
01:12and through Roger's association with Ken Russell after Tommy with Listermania,
01:17my own associations with David Putnaman via Stardust, that would be the day,
01:25and more recently, Paramount Studios in Los Angeles with Mae West.
01:32Do you think, though, that by coming down here and by using this cooperate muscle that The Who obviously have,
01:39that you've done a lot to save a studio that really was due for demolition some years ago?
01:45Well, yeah, obviously, yes, because if we weren't, at this moment, you and I talking in this room,
01:52it would very well be a block of flats.
01:56How much of the place do you actually have?
01:58At the moment, I think, we have eight studios.
02:02We have now operating, at present, Holoco, which is a company that specializes in laces, lighting,
02:14and also development of holograms for the use in three-dimensional movies without glasses,
02:23which is a bit of a thirst, and there's only, so far as we know, there is only the Russians
02:30and the British here at Shepparton
02:33who are using that technique.
02:36You'll see, Nicky, a lot of the things that I've mentioned here come under the Who Group umbrella,
02:43and what I would like to do is to show you around the different aspects of what the Who Group
02:52are all about here at Shepparton.
02:55Fine. Let's go.
