Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) plans to expand its main fleet to 116 aircraft and serve 106 destinations by 2035 to support growth and strengthen its presence in key markets.

MAG president and group chief executive officer (CEO) Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the expansion, including new-generation aircraft like the A330neo, aims to boost efficiency, enhance customer experience, and help position Malaysia Airlines among the world’s top 10 carriers by 2030.

00:00As we continue to streamline and expand our network, I am pleased to share that Malaysia
00:05Airlines will further strengthen our presence across key markets in the months ahead.
00:11This expansion will include the introduction of our eight and nine destinations in China
00:18market that continues to perform strongly for us, with today an average load factor
00:24of 85% in the first quarter of 2026.
00:29With the support of the mutual visa-free arrangements between the two countries, Malaysia and China,
00:36this growth allows us to capture rising demand in one of the world's most dynamic travel markets.
00:44In addition, ladies and gentlemen, we will also resume our third destination in Japan,
00:51where our existing droughts have recorded a load factor around 90% in quarter one 2026 for Japan.
00:59And that is reflecting strong and sustained travel demand between both the two countries, Malaysia and also Japan.
01:06So to support this growth, our fleet strategy is advancing in tandem.
01:11We have already taken delivery of 10 of our A330 NEOS and 14 Boeing 737-8, which will be getting
01:21another one next week.
01:24By 2025, our ambition is to grow the mainline fleet to 116 aircraft, supporting a network that reaches 106 destinations.
01:35And this ensures we remain relevant in our key long-haul corridors, maintain a competitive fleet mix, and deliver operational
01:45efficiency.
01:47At this same time, members of the media and also ladies and gentlemen, the induction of the new generation aircraft
01:52enhances our product offering,
01:54allowing us to provide a modern, consistent experience across every customer journey and all contributing to our aspiration to position
02:06Malaysia Alliance among the world's top 10 global carriers by 2030.
02:12As part of our ongoing expansions, we are also increasing frequencies, not just new routes.
02:18Across key routes, further strengthening our presence in ASEAN, South Asia, Australia, New Zealand,
02:25while enhancing connectivity to support the growing travel demand.
02:28This includes the likes of Brisbane, Manila, Colombo, which will offer greater flexibility and better serving both leisure and business
02:37travels across key markets.
