00:02Russia plans to send a second oil tanker to Cuba, the country's energy minister said on Thursday,
00:08citing the island's ongoing energy blockade and reiterating Moscow's solidarity with the
00:13Caribbean nation. The announcement comes just two days after a sanctioned Russian tanker docked at
00:19the Cuban port of Matanzas carrying 730,000 barrels of oil, marking the first time in three
00:27months that an oil tanker reached the island. In late January, U.S. President Donald Trump
00:49threatened tariffs on any country that sold or supplied oil to Cuba, although he recently said
00:55he had no problem with the Russian tanker docking, saying he didn't think it would help prop up the
01:00Cuban government. The U.S. energy blockade has deepened Cuba's energy and economic crises,
01:07leading to severe blackouts, cuts to the state-run food ration system and shortages of water and
01:13medicine, with the island's most vulnerable the hardest hit.
