00:00A Russian oil tanker carrying around 100,000 tons of crude has arrived in Cuba,
00:05offering much-needed relief amid a deepening energy crisis.
00:09The Kremlin says the delivery was discussed with Washington ahead of its arrival.
00:15The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump appeared to soften his administration's oil blockade on Havana,
00:22saying he had no problem with countries supplying fuel to Cuba.
00:28The sanctioned vessel was said to be waiting to unload shortly after Trump's announcement,
00:34marking Cuba's first major oil delivery in over three months.
00:37The Caribbean nation is facing one of its worst energy crises since the collapse of the Soviet Union,
00:43with widespread blackouts and severe fuel shortages.
00:47Cuba had been heavily dependent on oil supplies from Venezuela,
00:50but it was effectively cut off since early January,
00:54when the U.S. launched an operation to oust then-Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.
00:59The Trump administration also warned it would impose tariffs on any country supplying oil to Cuba,
01:05prompting nations such as Mexico to halt shipments.
