00:00It looks like the record-breaking 46-day partial government shutdown could soon be over.
00:04I know, we've been here before, but I think this might actually maybe possibly be the end.
00:09House Republicans appear to have caved and backed the Senate plan to fund all of DHS except parts of
00:16ICE and Customs and Border Protection. Those would be funded in a different way. That plan
00:21is now blessed by President Trump. House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John
00:25Thune released a joint statement on Wednesday that reads, quote, in the coming days, Republicans
00:30in the Senate and House will be following through on the president's directive by fully funding the
00:34entire Department of Homeland Security on two parallel tracks, through the appropriations
00:39process and through the reconciliation process. President Trump confirmed his support on Truth
00:44Social later in the day, posting, we are going forward to fund our incredible ICE agents and
00:48Border Patrol through a process that doesn't need radical left Democrat votes and bypasses
00:53the Senate filibuster, which should be repealed immediately. Now, he is, of course, referencing
00:57the complicated reconciliation process. It's a kind of loophole to pass certain budgetary
01:03laws, and the president asked for that bill to hit his desk no later than June 1st. As of
01:08Wednesday night, it wasn't clear if Congress was going to come back early from their two-week
01:13recess to pass the first bill, the one that would fund the majority of DHS.
