00:00This is a school like no other in Kenya. At Greenland Girls' School in Kajiajo County, every student is a
00:08teenage mother and many are raising their children right alongside their studies.
00:13Classrooms and dormitories are shared with babies as the school creates a rare space where education and motherhood go hand
00:20in hand.
00:21Despite the challenges, the students remain determined to continue their education while building a future for themselves and their children.
00:30When I found that I was pregnant, I didn't have anywhere else to go. So I found out that there
00:37was this school that takes and educates teenage mothers.
00:44It's the only school of its kind in Kenya dedicated to teenage mothers and their children.
00:49For many young women rejected by their families, it offers a rare second chance.
00:56Some of the challenges which the students encounter is the family and the community.
01:04Most of them have failed to accept them the way they are.
01:09Most of them are rejected by the community because now they have gotten pregnant when it is too early for
01:15them.
01:17A 2015 study found two-thirds of teenage mothers drop out because of pregnancy.
01:23Authorities are stressing the importance of letting these girls return to school and continue their education.
01:28Every girl who gets pregnant and drops during their school time must be allowed re-entry to any school in
01:39the country.
01:40Those special schools are important in supplementing the general scalable policy framework, which means every school must be able to
01:51allow re-entry.
01:52And I think that's what we should focus on. And these schools that are helping to close the equity gap
01:57must also be supported.
01:59In 2024, over 125,000 babies were born to girls under 19 in Kenya.
02:07Five of 24?
02:08Is that great?
02:09since the U.S.
02:0924,000 Books in Kenya.
02:09Think that, you don't know something like a fiscal day.
02:09A kind thousand years of only 10…
02:09It's a magical
02:10Thanks, everyone in the future,
