00:04Bellico is a beautiful valley. This time of year is really nice. The salmon bring everything to
00:09life and everything's here to feed on these fish. And the people and the bears are interacting in a
00:17way that's not common in British Columbia. They're living in close proximity to each other, both
00:22finding their own ways to exist and that can be harmonious or controversial depending on the
00:33circumstance. We've tailored our lifestyle to fit into where we are. I'm happy to see them. It's a
00:39thrill and that's the reason we're here. The belief that people and bears can live in harmony is a
00:45fantasy. Unfortunately, our survival requirements overlap too much for us to live side by side.
00:52Years ago, the bears had a kind of a healthy respect for humans and they stayed away from them.

01:05Go ahead.
01:06The B.C. has been sent to the island of the way to our work.
01:12I thought it was an honor for sure.
01:14The B.C. really promised us that they would not kill this bear.
01:28Right now we are overrun by bears because of the devastation of what man has done to the earth.
01:36If I had one of my kids get killed, you think that I'd ever lived the rest of my life
01:40knowing that I
01:41could have went out and did something?
01:45I think that maybe 20 years from now, they're going to be coming back to see if there's any bears
01:51left.
