00:09What's the feeling on where things are heading with Christian Gonzalez?
00:13The Patriots have not wavered in the conversation as to we anticipate,
00:18as Rabel just said to us, you know, within the hour.
00:21We want to draft players, develop them,
00:25and the best ones we want to sign to extensions.
00:27And Christian would definitely be one of those.
00:30He said he couldn't give a timetable.
00:32I believe it was what he said to follow that.
00:35I can't tell you when that's going to be, but that's what we want to do.
00:38What did you think of last week when he was at the Celtics game
00:41and he gave you some money sign on the jumbo screen?
00:47That's pretty telling.
00:48I mean, I'd say so, yeah.
00:52And I don't blame him.
00:53And I did phrase it when I asked Rabel about it.
00:55I said, I said, you guys have the opportunity to put the fifth year,
01:00pick up his fifth year option.
01:01He goes, well, if we haven't done that already, we should do that today.
01:04So you asked that.
01:05We were reading that comment earlier.
01:06We didn't realize that was you.
01:07Okay, interesting.
01:08He said, if we haven't done that, we should do that today.
01:10And I said, additionally, he's going to play for $4 million this year,
01:14which is great for us, not as great for him when he could be probably making
01:18close to $35 million, even $40 million in an outlandish contract.
01:23And Rabel kind of cut me off before pointing out that there's a massive gap
01:28between what he's going to be asked to play for and what his market value would be
01:32and said, you know, we want to get extensions done.
01:34So whether that means that they are, in cutting me off and between Kraft,
01:39between Rabel, between the number of times they've talked about it,
01:42they see it as urgent before the 2026 season.
01:47I just think it's going to be urgent for Gonzalez.
01:49And if it's urgent for Gonzalez, then he has to,
01:53in the same way Deion Branch did a long time ago,
01:55if you're going to get your contract redone before your fourth season,
02:04there has to be an allowance made by the player.
02:08I'm all for him signing the highest contract value-wise in the league,
02:14beyond McDuffie, but McDuffie was going into his fifth year.
02:18So you're making an allowance with Gonzalez and doing it early.
02:22And the Patriots under Belichick never would do it early.
02:26If they're going to do it early, there has to be a give up.
