00:00Baldur's Gate 3 and Divinity director Sven Vink has announced his studio will no longer use
00:04generative AI for any aspect of concept art development. In the Divinity AMA on Reddit,
00:09Vink said that there is not going to be any Gen AI art in Divinity. Previously,
00:13the studio had attempted to clarify that no concept art was generated using generative AI tech,
00:18but now it has also confirmed that we've decided to refrain from using Gen AI tools
00:23during concept art development. That way, there can be no discussion about the origin of the art.
00:28Vink says the studio will continue to assess the tech as part of an effort to continuously try to
00:32improve the speed with which we can try things out. He argues that the more iterations we can do,
00:37the better in general the gameplay is. We think Gen AI can help with this. The important bit,
00:41he says, is that we will not generate creative assets that end up in a game without being 100%
00:46sure about the origins of the training data and the consent of those who created the data.
00:50If we use a Gen AI model to create in-game assets, then it'll be trained on data we own.
00:54After Divinity's reveal last month, the revelation that Larian Edge used generative AI in some of
00:58its concepting work caused significant backlash, which is part of why the AMA took place in the
01:03first place.
