00:03Wow oh my god families across Australia are drowning in clutter this is what we
00:14took out of your house all of them are desperate for help clutter is anything
00:23that gets between you and the life you want to live Peter Walsh frees them from
00:30the stuff holding them back while Sheree Barber renovates their homes in
00:38record time and Angie Kent brings much loved treasures back to life it's the
00:52greatest oh my god transformation amazing of their lives
01:10Marg has been married to her high school sweetheart Chris for 30 years and they
01:15live together with their daughters Holly and Cassidy Mark's very artistic with
01:21painting or ceramics she's run marathons for charity and she's a very social
01:26person she'll go out every night of the week if she's got the chance to which is
01:30great because she's enjoying life and making the most of every minute and I
01:34love her for that but it's what's going on inside the family's home that's causing
01:39conflict but a lot of stuff everywhere it just feels all-consuming it's coming down
01:47on top of you and it's frustrating everything you'll say it's my mum stuff causes a lot of stress with
01:54everyone in the house yeah it's crazy I have obsessions like I collect jugs knickknacks
02:04there's craft supplies everywhere I just can't let things go and I can't let things go to waste so I'm
02:11always thinking I should be able to repurpose it because she says it's her house she thinks that
02:17it's okay to have everything out but I don't bring people over because it's embarrassing but she doesn't
02:24understand that we argue over a little spoon or a mug and I'll get upset I get emotional and then
02:34I give up
02:35because I just can't deal with it little arguments explode into bigger arguments that don't need to
02:40be an argument at all if everyone just accepted the clutter when one person in a household stops
02:55listening to everyone else's point of view resentment can quickly build and for mug her out-of-control
03:01collecting habit and blindness to the clutter is threatening her family's future oh hello so we're
03:15here there might be a little bit of clutter in this house a little bit just a little bit can
03:19we check it
03:19out absolutely please please come in whoa big giant skeleton that's Indiana bones Indiana bones there's so
03:33much stuff Wow besides the skeleton who lives in the house me Matt yeah Chris myself and Holly and our
03:45other
03:45daughter Cassidy got it okay and our stuff yeah there's a lot going on pretty much every flat surface
03:53has something on it I'm guessing every cupboard then is whoa it's chockers so drawers as well maybe okay
04:05are you serious got six of everything Chris what's the feeling it creates for you and it just becomes
04:15overwhelming and it's really busy Holly what's your feeling about all of this I absolutely hate it
04:22really yeah is there much conflict about this with you and your mom yes really yeah perhaps it's your
04:29delivery feel that mood change my why are we here we're here because apparently I have too much stuff and
04:41um
04:42yeah to me yeah it doesn't really bother me okay I also see there's kind of a lounge dining area
04:50over
04:50here can we check that out sure okay let's go for you do this once again there's just a ton
04:59of stuff in
05:00here there is so so many trinkets but the thing that I'm most amazed at is the sheer volume of
05:07furniture I
05:07mean couches an extra dining table six cabinets I mean wow it's mind-boggling
05:18I grew up in a family of five children and a single mum my dad passed away when I was
05:26two so I don't
05:27want to say poor but it was challenging my mum used to go to the op shop and it was
05:32like well that's a way of
05:34affording a bit more and that sort of introduced me to the idea of fossicking through other people's
05:39throw out so that's probably escalated the way I hold on to things Shree what do you think well I'm
05:48thinking this is probably a 1930s bungalow house is that right yes but not this bit right not this bit
05:54definitely that sort of half of the house looks like that's that era I love the charm of this heritage
06:01home but the past extension has left a chaotic mismatch of surfaces and styles with ornate
06:08cornices clashing with exposed brick concrete shelves and different shades of timber so I need
06:13to give this a massive spruce up whilst respecting its beautiful 1930s features I'm curious what's with
06:21this cat rung thing here we have four cats and that is how they get up and get out into
06:29their cat pen
06:30so they don't get squished on the road and you want that to stay yes please yeah so what else
06:36are
06:36we looking at there's another room at the front of the house why don't you two check this out why
06:40don't you two come with me let's go come on let's do it oh wish us luck good luck wow
06:55yeah it's a lot yeah this is the room of chaos
07:04there's this whole sense of well if we laugh it off we don't have to deal with it that's probably
07:11right but but yes and no you're getting upset yeah oh don't get upset it's just stuff but it's not
07:20just stuff and suddenly I scratch the surface yeah and this comes to the surface well we have a lot
07:27of arguments over it and it gets very emotional for me could this stuff end your marriage
07:36I don't know we've been going out since we're 15 years old we used to ride my bike from my
07:46school
07:46to hers every lunchtime and we love each other and we're there for each other but it's a battle each
07:54date the clutter um sorry um it's it feels like it can't relax because it's it's caving in on you
08:04and I just don't feel like that anymore it feels like you're more invested in this than us and that's
08:12what the issue is with me is that how you feel absolutely okay I can tell you right now if
08:19you stay
08:20on this path this will destroy this family when you step into this house what do you want to feel
08:28I want to feel love comfort enjoyment and family okay what do you want to feel when you step into
08:35this house serenity okay then as we're working together when you look at any item you have to ask
08:44will it give me love comfort serenity family okay okay let's go grab anything you want let's go guys
08:59to deal with the clutter that's become a huge source of conflict within the family
09:04thousands of belongings have boxed up and removed from the home
09:10I think the next few days going to be a roller coaster like sort of thinking as a singular person
09:16not how affected everyone else I'm feeling like me my dad have the same views verse her so it could
09:23be a bit of trouble there coming up as the reno team uncover a nasty surprise that is really rotten
09:36facing the clutter triggers laughter from mark but brings holly and chris to the brink
09:47we get a box for games box for games peter's helping mark clear out her cluttered home after
09:54her love of op shopping spun out of control and is now threatening to tear her family apart
10:04it's really important that when you're packing up as many things as we are today keep like items
10:09together okay all the glasses together we'll get in the truck i'll grab some more stuff
10:21in the front room angie uncovers a hidden gem that was buried under the mess
10:28mug oh my gosh isn't she beautiful oh my god i love her
10:35chris bought me this for my 21st birthday i actually don't know where he bought it from because it was
10:42a
10:42surprise how long do you reckon it's been in here it'd be 20 plus years i don't think my children
10:48have actually had the pleasure of seeing this ever see okay yeah while mark doesn't know the origin of
10:55this gorgeous art deco treasure and thinks it no longer works i reckon it could be a pretty rare find
11:01so i want to get it valued by an expert i know and see if we can get it working
11:05again
11:10with the last room emptied of possessions everything's transported in loaded up vans and trucks
11:17to a nearby warehouse where it's all unpacked and laid out into categories so the huge task of
11:24decluttering can begin the amount of stuff we're dealing with is enormous and by her own admission
11:31it pretty much all belongs to mark and while she laughs it off it's clear her family are at breaking
11:38point with her marriage to chris on the line so to bring harmony back into their lives i need mark
11:44to
11:44face up to the difficult challenge ahead on the count of three i want you to open your eyes and
11:50have a
11:51look at the clutter that came out of your home one two three open your eyes
12:05oh my god that's a lot my heart's racing really to see it in one space is just it's a
12:16lot it's a lot
12:19let me show you what's here okay here we go in front of you are tables and boxes of glassware
12:29kitchenware platters plates i think we had that much glassware there's crafting supplies a ton of
12:36furniture we have seven racks and five tables of clothes bags and hats it's cheapest and here more than 200
12:50pairs of shoes
12:54no and that's not all over here on the wall of wonder we have more than 180 candles
13:02i knew almost 70 vases oh no and here right in front of you we have 75 jugs that's crazy
13:16this took 350 bins boxes bags and totes to get from your house to here in the hall
13:30this is overwhelming yeah it's too much it's absolutely too much i'm thinking i must find
13:37comfort in stuff that's a great insight straight away yeah can you help us understand that a little
13:43bit i'm not really sure i think i get a momentary buzz when i find something i like yeah and
13:48then i
13:49bring it home and then i see another one that i like and another and another and it's not till
13:54they're
13:54like that i can see yeah there's probably maybe one to me even in the house it looked you know
14:02everything was piled on each other and i find it crazy how you thought that was normal
14:07i think for you mark we need to reframe what is normal yeah
14:13to move back into the house that you want at least 70 of this has to go
14:19okay let's get started come with me let's go come on decluttering is one part of the process
14:28the other is back at the house where sheree and her team are getting started on the ambitious
14:34two-day renovation to transform the kitchen dining room living room and front room into functional
14:43spaces for the whole family first up sheree's tackling the kitchen's mismatched surfaces
14:51while we're protecting the timber floors which are in great condition i need to unify the kitchen's
14:56inconsistent style the pantry door had been covered with a chalkboard and the cupboard next to it had
15:02daggy pattern fabric but by ripping them off we've uncovered these gorgeous art deco style windows
15:10that really complement the home's heritage features
15:15but not everything in the kitchen has aged well with the removal of the old sink exposing a problem
15:21with the timber bench top god that is really rotten definitely been leaking yeah so if we can rip that
15:29out and replace it with a new one yep the biggest issue is you have to get that out without
15:35smashing
15:36those tiles because i'm using those as my color inspiration for the whole property yeah um we
15:42will try your best try our best to make sure we don't do any damage whatsoever all right if those
15:47tiles
15:47crack i'm running oh keep that that can go good good good marg chris and holly are now sorting through
16:00the
16:00clutter that was jamming up the front room of their home this is like breaking apart okay get rid of
16:09that just be quiet why are you telling me to be quiet you're making me upset things have already gotten
16:15off to a rocky start with marg clearly used to getting her own way mum said to keep that why
16:22it's for my
16:22embroidery you might stop it i do as soon as anyone dares question why she's keeping stuff
16:30mark's defenses come straight up sewing machine yes needed but to be honest i've never seen you when
16:38i've had stuff to fix you brought that out i've done that and used that
16:44all right donate it but it just means i'll have to buy a new one okay so having a sewing
16:52machine
16:52and sewing is a great idea yeah but the thing is you're never going to use this okay and i
17:01can tell
17:01this is the argument you guys get into all the time it no longer becomes about the sewing it becomes
17:08about who's going to win and who's going to lose yeah i agree yeah you win usually don't you yeah
17:15and the losers end up walking on eggshells getting angry and feeling resentment it's exactly what i've
17:22never thought of about like that yeah same just losing and just giving up and saying well and then
17:28he'll walk off yeah we walk away and we become blind to it again but then the resentment builds
17:32look at the two of them right now yep okay all right it's not about the stuff okay is this
17:43staying
17:43or going no i can go great okay good good good let's move down here go that can go
17:49what about these they can go this is can go mark is now making some progress but we've barely
18:00scratched the surface of the clutter or her family's resentment i need more convincing
18:06before i can believe she's made meaningful change there's one two three four a dozen boxes off to
18:14donation more to do let's go come with me coming up as the reno pushes forward i don't need any
18:23of
18:23this chris pushes back don't look at me like that i'm just telling you what i feel
18:31at chris and marg's house it's time to see if the old kitchen bench top will come out without
18:37damaging the splash back tiles all right bench top's loose oh it's popped out no tile broken
18:46thank goodness as buying new tiles would have never matched the originals but of course my troubles
18:52don't stop there there was an old telephone plate yep i asked the electricians to terminate them but
18:58we've now got big whopping holes so i found one white and one yellow tile in the garage would you
19:07believe it we need to try and get them out without smashing all those other tiles oh it's gonna be
19:13tricky let's give it a crack no we're not going to give it a crack
19:24meanwhile the team begin transforming the far end of the kitchen this area was a dumping ground for
19:31marg's clutter with impractical storage stacked one in front of the other so we're installing new
19:38overhead cupboards and low shelving to provide modern accessible storage while adding new bench tops we'll
19:44turn this into the ultimate art and craft zone for mark to express her creativity oh sheree yeah
19:52this hole's out oh my god good man all right we got him out with the second damaged tile also
19:58removed
19:58and the spares fitted into place new bench tops can be installed a new sink plumbed in and the cabinet
20:07doors painted but to tackle the chaos that was hiding behind them sheree has called in an expert
20:14i've put the first coat of paint on the kitchen cabinets but what i would love you to do
20:19is to fix the internals make them more space efficient okay all right i'll leave it with you
20:26clear containers to see contents and integrated storage to maximize cupboard space
20:32should make sure the family never has trouble finding things again
20:41stay or go stay the table wait no we don't need to go good marg and chris are now trying
20:50to reduce the
20:51excess christmas decorations that were buried in their cluttered front room that's a costume can i keep
20:56that we don't need we're not gonna wear wings or anything can i keep joy don't don't need it i
21:02don't
21:02i don't need it i don't need any of this okay i'm letting them go to make space in my
21:06house no but hey
21:08but it's not your house okay it's not listen don't say no no i understand it's not your house yeah
21:15it's our
21:15house house yeah mark's desire to always be the winner in her household means letting anything go
21:22needs to be on her terms look handle we've got 5 000 of those so we've got a hundred
21:27hundreds of things to go through we don't need that i'm not going to stop on this
21:32explain to you i need you to listen please thank you but it seems that after years of chris holding
21:38in his feelings they're now spilling out and he's going to the other extreme pat phone birds we're not
21:46going to hang them up anywhere they're sorry you don't look at me like that i'm just telling you what
21:49i
21:49feel it's your delivery again it's everything is no no no no no take a pause so far chris all
21:57of this
21:57is going yep three bins are being kept okay so progress is being made good it's a pendulum and you
22:05guys are finding new ground okay do you love this woman absolutely do you love this man mostly okay
22:15do you see you did it again i know yes i do love him okay you've got it i don't
22:19want to joke he's
22:20got to ease up a little bit because yeah yeah i will okay you can cut the tension between these
22:27two
22:27with a knife this is my recycling addiction of reusing everything that can go it's going to take time for
22:36the balance in this 30-year marriage to even out but i feel they've already gained some common
22:42ground you're going good good good well done my great job good job we started with these tables
22:49completely covered you are now keeping four bins for yourself and nine bins going off to donation
22:58good work well done yeah well done we've got lots more to do deep breath good job yeah you ready
23:04to
23:04keep going yep let's roll good job back at the house gold striped wallpaper is being put up in the
23:13dining room to complement the kitchen splashback the mismatched oversized cabinets and tiny table
23:20made for a poor dining experience so we're luxing up this space with modern cabinets that'll form a feature
23:26wall elegant lighting above new artwork and a larger table that i've ordered next sheree shifts her
23:34attention to the once dark and crowded living room starting with the tv nook this built-in unit was
23:42visually messy with the tv crammed in the middle surrounded by a cabinetry and clutter
23:49so we're simplifying it by pulling out the drawers and side shelves and i've also come up with a neat
23:55solution to replace the ugly tower the family's cats climbed up to reach the flap at the top of the
24:01window that leads to their outdoor enclosure so we put a rung maybe here and then here here and they
24:09get out the window yeah paint them up it'll come up nice as the cat steps are being built the
24:18timber trims
24:19throughout the open plan living dining and kitchen are painted a crisp white along with the ornate
24:25cornices and exposed brickwork to tie everything together we're also using the same wallpaper behind
24:32the tv as we did in the dining room this will dictate what color paint i use on the walls
24:38so what
24:39i want to do is i want to get the wall paint that tonally matches with the gold stripe now
24:44i've identified
24:44that color is tordman's new buck
24:56coming up angie discovers the origin of marg's treasure this model is quite rare wow while at the sort
25:04family tempers flare you don't wear those yeah i do i've never seen you wear them
25:14there's over 800 items of clothing here that's wild yeah that's like a whole shop back at the warehouse
25:22marg's youngest daughter cassidy has arrived to help sort through her mum's mountain of clothes
25:36the sheer volume of clothes marg has amassed through a lifetime of op shop bargain hunting
25:41is staggering and while she's resisted help from her family so far i'm hoping her daughter's honest
25:47opinions will get through their mum's defenses so these to me mum they all look the same they all look
25:55you don't need all of them please try and get rid of someone no no why don't tell her to
25:59just be
25:59quiet okay things are already a little tense but while clothes can be personal this is marg's chance
26:07to see her family as part of the solution not the problem mum you don't wear those i've never seen
26:16you
26:16wear them and there's a stain on them let me ask you a question do you feel ganged up on
26:22a little bit okay
26:23then let's talk about it because for you this is security yeah it is i think yeah yeah definitely
26:31not see and for them it's frustration and anger half of this i never see how wet at all but
26:38i have
26:38worn it and i will wear it so you've got to let me say no i do wear that you
26:43say i've worn it what i
26:45actually hear is i want to keep it okay it's fair that if you want to keep it that's your
26:53decision
26:53however they just don't want you living in this anymore you always say you lose clothes and then
27:02look it's all here you know i have a big saying that if you can't find it you don't own
27:06it that's
27:07bottom line yeah i understand so all of this discussion comes from a place of love let's go
27:13you're doing an incredibly good job what about this is this to go that's the key things can go
27:18good i wear these though okay it feels much more collaborative good mugs finally letting go of more
27:26things i don't wear it and little by little yeah that can go i can see her walls coming down
27:31too
27:33we're down to two racks one table you're keeping and 23 boxes wow clothes going off to donation
27:45we've got lots more to go through come with me let's go
27:50across town angie's track down hi-fi specialist philip to see if the vintage radio she found amongst
27:57mug's clutter can be revived she probably hasn't used it in about 20 years it may turn on briefly
28:06but it will be well in need of having the amplifier rebuilt so what year was this made 1937 made
28:14in
28:14australia okay what we would call a low boy so not a mantle radio but floor standing i would say
28:20this
28:21particular model is quite rare wow this would have been before television yeah
28:26everyone would have been sitting around this listening to radio serials second world war they
28:31would have all been listening to the news absolutely central to the family being informed and entertained
28:37how much was this worth back in its prime of life around 30 pounds okay and what about now in
28:46this
28:46condition unrestored 250 dollars okay the most interesting thing to do with this is to turn it into
28:54world's most beautiful bluetooth speaker oh that is perfect restoring and modernizing this gem to
29:00stream music through the speaker won't spoil the beautiful art deco exterior and while chris and
29:06marg can listen to the radio again holly and cassidy can enjoy their own music too it'll be a great
29:12surprise for the whole family all right so i'm gonna leave this with you let you know how we go
29:17thank you
29:21mom these are really different and they're different no no they go with the balls and
29:25that's just trust me i'm being really good holly hang on but wait let's stop for a sec
29:30at the warehouse mark has managed to reduce her huge china collection but is hesitating about the
29:37last few items that were bought when holly was little but never used you want to keep these they're
29:43cute yeah agreed but how will they be used are they important to you that's why i brought it up
29:49so you're keeping these for her or for you i was keeping them for me for her but she doesn't
29:54want
29:54them if marg is ever going to truly break her collecting habit she needs to stop holding on to
30:00items she's never used family harmony is way more important so it's time to let it go what are these
30:09these are just balls say it what are they just balls just balls take one here on the concrete oh
30:16no
30:17okay do it do it okay what are they just what are they just what are they just just balls
30:24they're just
30:25balls yeah smashing china may seem extreme but it's just the circuit breaker marg needs before
30:33embarking on her biggest challenge yet over 300 jugs vases and candles keep the rabbit that we had
30:41all the coffee pods in good out of this do you want to choose a nice set because i like
30:46the squares you
30:47can pick which one i'll let the squares keep that nice job do you want to keep yeah yeah good
30:53keep that
30:53it's about your mom from there at last these guys are working together picking things to go back
31:01into their house and it's great to see mark has stopped laughing off her family's concerns and is
31:07seeing things from their perspective which one holly which one help me i think you've got a lot of the
31:12big i like the red i like the red things yeah that's actually yeah yeah it's a group pick as
31:18well okay
31:18well done look at this this is a table of treasures there's lots of beautiful things in the world
31:28yes and i can't have them all yeah chris what are you thinking normally i don't like any of this
31:34stuff
31:34and i'm i really like what she's picked holly what are you thinking i'm so happy that that like we
31:41didn't argue at all during that it's collaborative which means they're committed to these rather than
31:47annoyed or overwhelmed every time they see they'll be happy seeing it yes what
31:56absolutely let's go come on more to do
32:03at the renovation rubbish is being cleared from the backyard
32:10while inside there's still so much left to do
32:15with everyone racing to meet the looming deadline
32:19but the most pressing job is to overhaul the front room which had been overrun with so much clutter
32:25it was unusable i want to transform this space into a sitting room chris and mark's daughters can
32:31relax in and have all to themselves so to give it a fresh feel i brought these lime green cabinets
32:38that'll really pop against the lemon wallpaper we're putting up at one end of the room and we're
32:43painting the other walls the same shade of gold as the rest of the house this room also has some
32:50old
32:50doors that are no longer being used as they connect to a bedroom that has a second entrance
32:55so we're covering them up with curtains and while a matching set are being added to the front windows
33:02i'm hitting the shops to choose new rugs to make all the rooms feel warm and comfy underfoot
33:09oh that one will be perfect
33:19coming up the family are stunned by the clutter's incredible value that's a lot
33:30the soldiers yeah they can go after a turbulent journey i'm trying to be a new person they can go
33:39marg is clearing the last of her clutter good you're going well keep it up with everyone more relaxed and
33:46having a bit of fun if it's through the hoop you get to keep the shoes yeah even deciding the
33:53fate of
33:54their biggest possession a giant horribly ugly skeleton is now proving easier is there a desire
34:00to keep this definitely not done better help me realize it's just not me in the house i always think
34:06i like that i'll get that whereas now i might reflect and think that someone else might not like that
34:12or check if it's something i'm buying because i aspire to use it when am i going to use it
34:20finally it's time to see if mark has culled enough to reach a 70 goal
34:25one two three open your eyes
34:29oh wow that is good that's unbelievable you started with 350 boxes you're looking at 85 boxes which is a
34:47reduction of 76 percent i mean seriously i'm really proud of my mum because i know that was very
34:57hard but a rewarding outcome it's just a fresh new start and i'm very excited to see what awaits
35:08our house is just going to feel a lot lighter we're going to enjoy it more and we're just going
35:12feel happy and joyous together this isn't the only surprise oh you are so right i want you to see

35:27oh my god goodbye goodbye goodbye i won't miss you that's a lot of stuff we're looking at
35:44hundreds of clothes all those little trinkets and ornaments
35:51you are very kindly donating that on and it will be the cash equivalent of get ready 27 000
36:01which is very generous well done that's a lot it's amazing well done the donation amount i love it that
36:11is music to my ears just feels like it weights off my shoulders moving forward with the family
36:19it's going to bring us together the items suitable for donation are taken to a local charity shop
36:29while the things being kept go back into the house where angie and peter find the best spots for them
36:36as the new rugs and furniture sheree ordered arrive at the last minute styling items are put into place
36:45i've brought in some oh that's nice green i love the texture and also this sort of neutral one
36:50awesome well they look amazing against the lounge brilliant
37:01this place has really come together instead of a mishmash of styles all the rooms now flow into each
37:07other with a consistent yet eye-catching color scheme that i really hope the family will love as much as
37:14i do
37:17next oh my god the family are blown away by their transformed home
37:36i'm so excited to go inside and see our new house and our new beginnings together
37:41it's been a bit of a roller coaster and we've done a lot of learning and it's been great to
37:46reconnect
37:47with my wife i'm very nervous but very excited to see what's been done in the house
37:55mark chris holly cass remember when we first came into this space it was such a hodgepodge of furniture
38:02and let's just say there was a lot of clutter in this space on the count of three i want
38:08you to open
38:08your eyes and check out your brand new living room one two three open your eyes
38:16oh my god the ones crowded dark and drab living room
38:39is now an open relaxing space brought to life with sheree's striking gold color scheme
38:48that's fabulous thank you it's not embarrassing anymore
38:55so what we did first of all is we reimagined just this whole tb nook area it was so cluttered
39:02before
39:02you didn't know where to look so we simplified it you'll notice that you've got new furniture so
39:08nice we've completely painted throughout so it all feels cohesive in the space we took out all the
39:15halogens we've now got these beautiful dimmable led lights you've got these beautiful curtains that
39:21provide privacy but they let light through that's just stunning but there's one other little surprise
39:28remember that big ugly cat tower that you have got rid of that and built you a new cat run
39:35so they
39:37hop up up up up poke their head up and out out the door it's got anti-slip matting on
39:43it so they won't
39:44fall off i love that i think you're a miracle worker and what do we think of the beautiful dining
39:50room
39:50that's amazing that is crazy the dining room was a chaotic clutter of cabinets and trinkets
39:58with the family crammed around a small table at meal times
40:06it's incredible i love it oh it's so beautiful
40:16it's now been given a stylish makeover with room for everyone to enjoy meals together
40:24so i actually got you an oversized dining table it very comfortably fits six people it's amazing
40:32you had a lot of stuff before and i know you got less stuff now but storage is still important
40:37so you
40:38can see that we've got double bookcases through there we've got the underbench storage and we've
40:43got the beautiful artwork it's just amazing it's just perfect it's beyond our vision it's something
40:52that i could never even imagine thank you before this i felt like it was a nightmare now a dream
41:01has come true you know it's like amazing that's high praise yeah cas i can finally have friends
41:08over now i'm not feeling embarrassed that's lovely you want to check out the kitchen definitely let's
41:14have a look no way the kitchen's bench top was rotting and the mismatched surfaces were an eyesore
41:24while the cupboards and drawers were bursting with clutter
41:33oh my god oh my gosh where am i is this our house
41:44it's now a fresh harmonious and organized space where meal prep can be stress-free
41:52color's beautiful
41:55i wanted to make the whole space feel cohesive because sometimes less is more i worked with the
42:01yellow tiles they were my color inspiration for the whole property myself the gray army and the gray care
42:06team continued the color all the way through we've installed a new bench top new sink new sink tap
42:12we've installed new lighting you'll notice that the chalkboard is gone from the doors which
42:18revealed some beautiful glass windows behind those so you've got a brand new chalkboard over there amazing
42:25and it's not just what you see on the outside it's also oh i can see the back of the
42:33cupboard and all of
42:35these drawers were completely chockers so we've simplified and you've got these drawer organizers
42:41are we wow and because the pantry was on the other side why not bring the thing
42:49that's amazing i love it it's amazing it's amazing one of the big things here also was about your
42:59creativity take a few steps this way we've got something else to show you marg's excess op shop
43:05finds and an imposing halloween decoration had taken over the far end of the kitchen
43:15it's now been turned into a dedicated art space for marg to get creative with her painting and
43:21embroidery i love it this space we always found hard a lot of room to grow here as well it's
43:27just
43:28incredible the front room was so jam-packed with stuff you could barely step foot in the door
43:43oh that's insane this is crazy
43:52it's so nice oh my god the wallpaper yeah i love it
44:01sheree's transformed it into a calming retreat to suit holly and cassidy
44:06while still respecting the home's art deco heritage it's beautiful wow will you hang out here not in
44:14your room yeah yeah oh my lord i love it love it
44:21so i wanted to make it fun so i first of all installed this beautiful wallpaper got the beautiful
44:28window furnishings here the old doorway what that was there actually created a window curtain wall so at
44:35any time you can just pull that across if you ever want to change this room in the future
44:39this is so nice oh wow and mug huh look what's back my baby after discovering the vintage radio buried
44:50under clutter angie had the aging amplifier rebuilt and added a modern twist so marg's whole family can
44:57enjoy it look at what it can do now you can just whip out your phone and
45:06what oh hell
45:09party time really cool wow wow so now you can connect your phone through the bluetooth
45:16push a button comes through you can still listen to your am though too so don't you worry about that
45:21it gets a second chance at life in this new space and the girls can have a little party if
45:26you want
45:27too it's awesome it's incredible i can't believe it and i can't stop smiling it feels like a dream come
45:36true
45:37just opening the eyes and i thought i'm in the wrong place but it's just amazing it feels like a
45:43home now
45:45i didn't know i could have a house that looked this beautiful i don't need stuff i just need my
45:51family
45:55marg's clutter blindness strained her marriage and caused deep resentment in the household
46:01but her willingness to change and embrace other views has not only helped create a beautiful relaxing
46:08home for the whole family it's brought them closer together than ever before
