00:01Welcome to Chateau DIY Win The Dream.
00:04The ultimate renovation showdown.
00:06Whose idea was this?
00:08Come on, mine.
00:09Take me over here.
00:11Over four thrilling weeks, creativity meets competition.
00:14Looks wicked, doesn't it?
00:15Perfect fit, oh my gosh.
00:18As determined duos battle it out to prove.
00:21I'm having an absolute nightmare.
00:23They've got the vision, skill and grit to win the ultimate prize.
00:26I haven't got a clue.
00:27I can cry, I can literally cry.
00:30The keys to this breathtaking French property.
00:34Set on the outskirts of a Normandy nature park,
00:37the property boasts six bedrooms, four bathrooms,
00:42two salons, five additional rooms to renovate,
00:46perfectly pruned gardens, stunning outbuildings,
00:49its very own orchard and even a historic bread oven.
00:53It's a lot to play for and if we lose, I'll be fuming.
00:56Three heats and a grand finale where only the best will rise.
01:01Oh!
01:02All the pairs have to do is show they have the renovation know-how
01:06to impress me and various guest judges from Chateau DIY.
01:10I think this is really creative.
01:13What a transformation.
01:14In weekly challenges designed to push their creativity and skills to the limit.
01:19The clock is ticking!
01:21Win the week and they secure their spot in the grand finale.
01:24The dream is real, the stakes are high.
01:26This is Chateau DIY Win the Dream.
01:40Previously on Win the Dream, and then there were four.
01:44The final renovation challenge began.
01:47I want you to create a principal bedroom for yourselves.
01:51Ooh!
01:53I love that.
01:54With a clash of styles.
01:56I don't want anything that's too garish.
01:59That would not be my vibe.
02:01Goal!
02:03And in the last petite challenge...
02:05Don't do that! Are you joking?
02:07..the chance to stamp their name on the Chateau...
02:10Yeah, I'm not sure about this font.
02:11Just draw it on there quickly, stop wasting time.
02:14..but with only three days remaining...
02:16Every finish has to be perfect.
02:18..which of these pairs...
02:19I can't find that on.
02:21This is so fun.
02:23..will win the dream.
02:30As part of the brief,
02:31the teams must include a customised bed frame.
02:34Bring her up.
02:35OK.
02:37That was all me.
02:38Tash and Zav have decided to make a four-poster bed from scratch.
02:44Perfect.
02:45OK.
02:45So nice to see bits of the bed in the room.
02:47I'm hoping this is going to fly.
02:49Fabulous.
02:49That's all the posts.
02:51Let's put those there.
02:54The bed is the key piece in the whole room.
02:56It brings everything together.
02:57It's the centrepiece.
02:58So, without it, nothing else is going to look right.
03:10OK.
03:10Right, OK.
03:11Let's lift it up.
03:12That looks great.
03:14Careful with the wall.
03:16Time is kind of rolling in us now, so...
03:19..we do need to get things going pretty quickly today.
03:23Yeah.
03:24Done.
03:25Yeah?
03:27Right, so where's this going?
03:28So, they'll be on to the back of here.
03:30You've got a two-metre drop on the curtain.
03:31Yeah.
03:32OK, so that's good.
03:35Happy with that?
03:36Yeah, yeah.
03:41That's already holding really well, actually.
03:42Is it?
03:43Yeah.
03:43Good.
03:44That is unbelievably quick.
03:48Wow!
03:49This guy's good.
03:52Just give him a shatter or something.
03:56We had all the ideas and no idea how to execute it,
03:59and now we actually do know how to execute it
04:01and execute it to a high standard.
04:03Yeah.
04:03So, is it going up like so?
04:05Yeah.
04:10This is becoming a four-poster bed, Natasha.
04:13I know.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Look at that.
04:23Perfect fit.
04:24I'm so happy.
04:25It's coming along really, really nicely.
04:27The vision's coming to life.
04:30Yay!
04:31There.
04:32That looks good.
04:33Good?
04:34Yeah.
04:34She's the yin to my yang.
04:35And do you know what?
04:36We've beaten everything in our path so far.
04:38We're down to the final two.
04:40There's not long left,
04:41and if you can't start dreaming and believing in yourself now,
04:45then when are you going to do it?
04:46Ready?
04:47One, two, three.
04:50Two more struts to go, but...
04:52It's looking good.
04:53That is a bed,
04:54and it's going to look crazy good.
04:58We love the Joshes,
04:59but like I've said,
05:00not enough to give them a chateau.
05:01That's our bedroom up there.
05:03And we're going to be staying in it.
05:07Away from the chateau,
05:08the Joshes have gone out to do a spot of shopping.
05:11We're here to find some fabric for the upholstery work in the room
05:15and some curtains.
05:16Let's go.
05:17Let's do it.
05:21With the headboard, we're going that?
05:22Headboard and bed is that.
05:24And we've got the curtains.
05:26Curtains with this as well, yeah?
05:27It's quite...
05:28It's nice.
05:28It's got a colour to it.
05:29I think this would be good for some Christians.
05:31Just feel it.
05:32I'm thinking this will kind of break up the pink
05:34to create a bit of softness.
05:36We've got some different shades going on.
05:37I think that's going to really work.
05:38Yeah.
05:38It's going to be a lot of money.
05:40Should we find out the price first,
05:41then we can work it out?
05:42Yeah.
05:44Each pair have 700 euros
05:46to spend on their bedroom designs.
05:53Thank you so much.
05:58Bye-bye.
06:00God, it's so heavy.
06:01It's because we bought so much.
06:03We bought the whole shop.
06:04It's a bedroom, so...
06:05Yeah.
06:11Back at the chateau...
06:12That's every bit, yeah?
06:14The first coat of paint is on Tash and Zav's bespoke bed.
06:18Right, that'll do.
06:20Let's pick this up later.
06:22Now it's time to start adding texture to the room.
06:26I think watching the wallpaper go up is always a nice moment
06:29because it does give the room some grandeur.
06:31It just means it all looks a bit more polished and finished,
06:34which would take some anxiety away.
06:38It would be nice to get all this over the line this morning.
06:44It's actually going on really nice here.
06:46Looks good.
06:47Do you like it?
06:48It looks really good.
06:52Keep it off the wall until it's on the right bit of wall, ideally.
06:57There it is.
07:00Final piece of wallpaper.
07:02Hello.
07:03Hello.
07:04Hello.
07:05So, Tash, you finished the wallpapering?
07:07Happy?
07:07I'm very happy.
07:08I'm really pleased with the colour.
07:09I think the green pops perfectly.
07:12The main part of this challenge was a bespoke bed.
07:16Do you feel we've met the brief?
07:17I'd say this is pretty bespoke, yeah.
07:19I think you've smashed the brief.
07:21It's very, very good.
07:22Very good.
07:23Very proud.
07:24It's been a real labour of love, hasn't it?
07:26It has, yeah.
07:26I've been in the workshop for a long time with this.
07:29It looks kind of well put together.
07:31Are you pleased with the colour?
07:32Yeah, it's really lovely.
07:34It's just a nice white chalk paint,
07:36so it obviously sticks nice to the wood,
07:38and then I'm going to gild on top of all the flowers,
07:40so it will be lovely and gold and pretty.
07:42I love how you've now really identified your look, your aesthetic.
07:46You've nailed it down, haven't you?
07:48Yeah.
07:48Lots of detailing, lots of gold gilding,
07:51and actually your skills complement each other beautifully.
07:53Yeah.
07:53It's going well.
07:54Yeah, it will be our dream bed.
07:57It will.
07:57In, hopefully, your dream chateau.
08:00I know.
08:00Fingers crossed, yeah.
08:04The Joshes are back from their shopping trip.
08:07OK, mattress number two.
08:09And they've just had an update regarding their budget.
08:12Budget-wise, we have completely run out of money.
08:15We have no money left, literally no pennies at all.
08:18And they still have lots to finish in their room.
08:21So, we are having to be really creative with what we're going to do.
08:25This room's not going to get done.
08:26So, we've run out of gold paint, and we've also run out of spray paint.
08:30And we still need to kind of do the tables and the mirror, things like that.
08:35Yeah.
08:36So, I'm thinking we might need to rethink our budget and maybe look at taking some of the stuff back
08:41to the shop.
08:42Yeah.
08:42To get a little refund, and then maybe we can try and afford some of them items.
08:46Yeah, that's what we'll do.
08:48OK.
08:48How about the gold ceiling?
08:50I mean, I think the gold ceiling looks good.
08:52It's just a bit patchy in some areas.
08:56I don't know if there's anything we can do about that.
08:57I mean, the gold paint's expensive.
08:59So, yeah, I think it looks good as it is.
09:02When we move in, we'll do another coat.
09:05Financial chat over, they can now make a start on their bespoke bed.
09:09We've repurposed a single mattress.
09:11We bought this foam from a charity shop for our custom-made headboard.
09:17As the foam's quite thick, our first challenge is going to be cutting it in half.
09:28The headboard is going to be quite a feature in the room.
09:31So, any lumps and bumps, you'll probably see it.
09:34So, we're going to try and make that as neat job as we possibly can.
09:38I think it's just stressful, because at this point, we just can't make any mistakes.
09:42Everything has to kind of go to plan.
09:44So, wish me luck.
09:50And it's not just the foam for the headboard the Josh's need to get right.
09:54Up to.
09:57We've literally ordered and bought enough fabric exactly for the headboard.
10:02And because it's so big, the fabric cost us, like, a large percentage of our budget.
10:06So, I literally have, like, centimetres to spare.
10:12If we don't get this right, then the headboard will be ugly.
10:17It won't have any fabric on it.
10:18We are literally doing bougie on a budget.
10:20So, we're trying to make this really plush, really luxurious.
10:23A lot is riding on this pink bed.
10:25Do I trust myself?
10:27Have I measured this right?
10:30All of this is painted.
10:33While Tash is finishing off painting their four-poster bed,
10:37Zav is outside, repurposing their six-euro brocant chairs.
10:43Yeah.
10:44Into bedside tables.
10:45Saw this really unusual idea recently about chopping up chairs to make different things.
10:53So, I'll give it a go.
10:55Very simple design.
10:58Let's take the back off.
11:00There's your tabletop.
11:01I'll pop a piece of ply on here.
11:03Pop those on top as the actual tabletop itself.
11:06So, super simple.
11:07Shouldn't take too long.
11:12And that's the second one.
11:15My tabletops.
11:17Right.
11:18Josh is also getting creative with some leftover wood.
11:21We were going to buy some bedside tables and, like, upcycle them a little bit,
11:25but the budget is currently zero.
11:27We have nothing left.
11:29See, I've seen someone doing something similar to these bedside tables before.
11:33So, I wanted to give them a go and see how easy it was to do them.
11:37I'm going to put a little tabletop on top.
11:39Originally, they don't have that, but I thought I'll just put a little bit of a twist on top of
11:43it.
11:44Being a dancer, you always strive to achieve the perfect thing.
11:48And with the wood, it was all kind of cut into different shapes.
11:51But actually, nothing's perfect in the chateau.
11:54So, yeah.
11:54I just need sanding down and then putting a tabletop on.
11:57And I think it looks good.
12:11Hello.
12:13How's it going?
12:14Good.
12:14Set.
12:15Tabletop's done.
12:16Looks lovely.
12:17Good?
12:17It's fresh?
12:18Yeah.
12:19I can paint that up and it will look really nice.
12:21Yeah.
12:22Yeah, fancy.
12:24We're almost there.
12:25Not really.
12:25We still have quite a lot to do.
12:27Yes, ma'am.
12:38We are back in France where our final two pairs are battling it out in their final renovation
12:44challenge to try and win this quarter of a million pound property. They've been asked
12:50to transform one of the chateau's bedrooms, reflecting their own taste and style. With
12:56only six days to complete the challenge and a budget of only 700 euros, the pressure
13:01is on. And the pairs have only two days left to go. We bought this on like an online
13:08marketplace and we got a bargain, it was only 25 euros. So it's, we love the colour and we
13:15love everything about it but we just don't love the sort of width, it's a bit too deep
13:18for the bedroom because it's going to go next to the bed. So the plan is to cut it in
13:23half
13:24and then attach it to the wall. While the Josh's measure up...
13:31Me and my friend, the sander. Zav is making a start on their chest of drawers.
13:42It's coming off so quickly I was going to take the whole lot off because then the paint will
13:46definitely stick. Should be an easier job than putting the bed up, so fingers crossed.
13:55Upstairs in the chateau...
13:56He's got that after the door.
13:59...the Josh's dresser is cut and ready to be fitted into place.
14:02I just wanted to make sure it's central but we can just do it by the eye so if you
14:06go
14:06back there and just see... Hold that in and watch them fall.
14:11That looks about right. Yeah.
14:13We've chosen to kind of put this panel in around in a square to frame it and then our
14:18idea is we're going to put a big bit of artwork up here.
14:20These are the drawers that we've had to chop in half and then put the back back on.
14:25Yeah. Put it in now. Lovely.
14:36So we've decided to go for green on the top of these lovely chest of drawers and we're
14:41going to be gilding the edges because obviously that's our style these days so we're making
14:45sure it all fits in with our little signature. I think this green is really lovely with the
14:51darker wood so it will look really nice. A little bit of an up cycle.
14:57The idea is to kind of blend this in with our panelling so we want everything that comes
15:02into this room to feel like it's meant to be here. It's not just been plonked in here
15:05so we are making sure each piece of furniture feels like it's ours.
15:10Well this is pretty much done I think.
15:14Over with the Josh's. Mine. Mine. Mine.
15:18Their customised bed is finally finished and ready for the final touches.
15:24Whew. Oh my god.
15:29Whew. Wow.
15:32Yeah.
15:36That's a massive headboard. Yeah.
15:39It is pretty big. It was pretty big.
15:42I think you described it as being that big but when you see it in situ.
15:46Yeah. That is two metres high and quite wide as well.
15:50It's quite chateau sized.
15:52It really is isn't it? Are you pleased with it?
15:54Yeah. Yeah.
15:55That was quite a big project that and so now it's up we feel a bit relieved.
16:00Yeah.
16:01I mean creating that upholstery there is one thing but a concave curve like that,
16:06it's almost impossible what you've done there.
16:08Yeah. I don't know how we achieved it really. It was kind of like in our head
16:11originally this was going to be one piece and then what we decided to do is to create a bit
16:15more depth with the fabric split into six pieces.
16:19So it's been a big project, you know, it was like six individual upholstered pieces which came together to make
16:25a bit of a puzzle.
16:26But upholstering one big piece is often really tricky because the fabric goes a bit saggy if you stretch it
16:31too far.
16:32So I think that's a really clever way of making sure it's nice and taut.
16:35Yeah. We're really happy with how it's turned out.
16:37It's fantastic. Now two singles to make a king?
16:41It's bigger than a double, slightly narrower than a king.
16:45Right.
16:46But we're happy with this because we didn't want a double, you know, we wanted something big.
16:49We've got a double at home, we wanted to upgrade.
16:51So yeah, this is, we're really happy with this.
16:53So presumably using two single mattresses was cheaper as well?
16:57It was definitely cheaper.
16:58We were kind of looking at headboards like this online and they were about like two to three thousand euros
17:03and we've actually managed to make this whole bed for probably a hundred euros, including the fabric, the bases, the
17:09legs, everything that you can see.
17:10So we're really happy with that.
17:12Now that is upside down on a budget.
17:15Yeah.
17:15And what about bedding?
17:16We spent quite a lot on the bedding because bedding is quite important in a bedroom.
17:19Want it to feel really nice.
17:20Yeah.
17:21So we spent like 40 euros on the bedding, which is quite a big chunk of our 700 euro budget,
17:25but we think it's worth it.
17:26I love that in this challenge, 40 euros has become a lot of money.
17:2940 euros in this challenge is a massive amount of money.
17:32It's like the amount you can do for that much.
17:34We've found that you can be so resourceful.
17:36We're using every single inch of fabric, every euro.
17:39So does that mean the budget is looking more healthy?
17:41It's all disappeared.
17:43Right.
17:43So does that mean you're absolutely out of money?
17:46Yeah.
17:48So where else has the money gone?
17:50The money's gone on the walls, the paint, the wood for the panelling, all the fabric for the upholstery.
17:58We've bought this lovely dresser.
18:00We've got a lovely rug.
18:02We've like splashed out on the items that we feel like are going to add, you know, value to the
18:06room.
18:06Every single piece, however small it is, is kind of like being hand chosen because we think it's going to
18:11complement the design and the kind of style of the room.
18:13That's the joy of working on a limited budget.
18:16It encourages you to be innovative, upcycle and look what you've created.
18:20Right, you've got lots to do.
18:22Yeah.
18:22See you soon.
18:27With the French weather being as temperamental as it is back in the UK.
18:31I might as well give it a crack.
18:33Tash is trying to learn a new skill under the cover of the workshop.
18:36I kind of volunteered myself to sew on this challenge because we need curtains at the end of the day.
18:44Oh, this isn't on.
18:47I was going to say, it's definitely not on.
18:48I think sewing is a really good skill to be able to customise your home.
18:57And if I had my own chateau, then I would want to be customising all of my soft furnishings.
19:02So, I've got to practise.
19:06How are you getting on?
19:09Look at that.
19:11Look at that.
19:13It's straight.
19:15A surprise.
19:16Are you proud of me?
19:17Yes.
19:18It's brilliant. Well done.
19:19I've made a curtain.
19:20You've made a curtain.
19:23We are trying to find some bar that we're going to make some artwork with for the walls.
19:29And we wanted to make it ourselves and custom make it because, you know, it is potentially a future bedroom.
19:34And hopefully, it'll look really stunning on the wall.
19:37So, just a way of us kind of putting our stamp on the room even more.
19:41A new bar could look so glamorous.
19:45Bougie.
19:46Bougie.
19:47Sorry, lovely artwork.
19:50Bougie.
19:52The pressure is on.
19:54Because we are both artists and, like, we love art.
20:00Are you happy with that? Does it look good?
20:02Yeah, it looks great.
20:02So, let's just design it a bit.
20:04So, I think that one looks...
20:06I think diagonal like that.
20:07It's diagonal.
20:08Yeah, like that.
20:08Yeah, like that.
20:10Yeah, a bit more spread out.
20:13I'm happy because all the little details that we've wanted to get ticked off the list are slowly getting done.
20:18So, yeah, very happy.
20:24Over by the workshop...
20:26These are lovely, aren't they?
20:27Zav and Tash are also hand crafting some artwork.
20:31So, I have taken some pieces from the garden, as I always do, because I love it. And a little
20:38bit of this leaf. And just turned it into little frames for our room, which I think are very pretty.
20:45And they tie in all of the lovely botanical vibes that me and Zav really love.
20:50So...
20:51And Zav wants to take their floral designs one step further.
20:55It's called Filau. It is a... It's a tree that we have in Mauritius. And...
21:02Zavier is Mauritian.
21:04I'm Mauritian.
21:05And our favourite beach in Mauritius goes up into a woods full of these trees. So, it would be really
21:14cool if we can squish it enough to actually fit it in the frames.
21:18Because there's nothing more personalised than that, as far as I'm concerned.
21:20I'm just trying to squish it enough.
21:22I'm not sure you're going to be able to crush it properly. But I can... I have probably a bit
21:26of wiggle room in here.
21:29Let's try one of the bigger ones.
21:32Yeah, I think I can get it in.
21:34You really have to make the cushions, honey. We don't have time for you to be doing that. So, can
21:37you forget about it, please?
21:39I've got one. I'll use that one as well.
21:43The pairs are coming to the end of their fourth day transforming their bedrooms.
21:48I think we've had a really good day today. We've got through loads on our list.
21:53Trying to keep it as well.
21:53So now, as neatly as you can, you need to cut along this edge.
21:56The main part of the brief is a custom made bed. That's what we really wanted to focus on. We
22:01really wanted to get that right. And I feel like we've done that.
22:03It genuinely is starting to feel like our room.
22:06It's going well. That's good.
22:07We're feeling confident because what we've done with our room is we've stood by our own style choices and we
22:15have done exactly what we wanted to do.
22:17We've just completely immersed ourselves in our own creative vision.
22:24We've got so much done. I think our to-do list is actually quite short now.
22:31The wallpaper's exactly our taste. The bed is our taste. The bedside tables, everything that we've put in there.
22:36Even the chest of drawers now that it's been painted. It's all the sort of things that we love.
22:41So it feels very much like it's coming together as our bedroom.
22:44There's finishing bits to do on the bed.
22:46We just need to keep this up until the finish line to make sure everything that goes in there is
22:51perfect.
23:01Two pairs have made it to the grand finale.
23:04We are moving fast.
23:05And are going head to head in their final renovation challenge.
23:08To create their very own principal bedroom.
23:11That's that one done.
23:12They've had six days and 700 euros to finish their rooms.
23:16I think I was a magpie in a previous life and I'm drawn to all things shiny.
23:21And now it's the final day of design at the chateau.
23:26What? Whoa!
23:27It's the final push of the final challenge. So it's nervy. It's very nervy.
23:33The butterflies are not just in the garden.
23:37These look great.
23:38I've got four curtains to do.
23:41That's a lot of curtain.
23:42It feels like the keys are kind of like dangling there in front of us.
23:45Wait there. Wait there. Wait there.
23:48I might take my shoe off.
23:52We're 100% fighting for the chateau and we're going to like race to the finish line.
23:57While one Josh carries on making the curtains.
23:59That was actually easier than I thought.
24:01The other Josh is upstairs giving a new lease of life to their two vintage chairs.
24:06Our plan is to take the fabric off these chairs and re-upholster them.
24:09So I'm taking these out but I am going to reuse these.
24:12The soft furnishings for us are just as important as like the construction and the design and stuff like that.
24:16I mean we've really never done anything like this before.
24:19So this is throw ourselves in and see what we can do.
24:22Oh look.
24:24Two leases of life this chair.
24:26So I'm glad to restore it once more.
24:28This will be its best lease of life.
24:30Because we did it.
24:33Ah!
24:34Pins everywhere.
24:38This is all fun and games.
24:40I think what I'm going to do is a few little staples first.
24:48I've literally been the cushion queen throughout this competition.
24:51I don't know why I always leave cushions to the last day.
24:56I think it just kind of gives me a sense of chill before the chaos of dressing the room.
25:03And just yeah doing all the final bits.
25:05Oh. You alright?
25:06Oh yeah.
25:08What are you doing?
25:09I'm giving one last lease of life for the work benches.
25:11What? Why?
25:13What for?
25:15The base of our bed.
25:18Base of the bed?
25:19Yeah.
25:21Alright. Interesting.
25:35I figure this is the best way to hold the mattress up.
25:38You're going to need two of them now anyway.
25:42There you go.
25:43Okay.
25:45Right.
25:47To the room.
25:51Right now.
25:53Lift it up.
25:54Like this.
25:55You need to move it all the way over to your side and then lay it down.
25:59Yeah.
25:59You come all the way over here.
26:01If you can, can you get around the way?
26:02No, I can't without touching the bed.
26:04Okay.
26:04Here you go.
26:05Try again.
26:06You'll have more space now.
26:07No, it's still going to scuff the bed.
26:10Don't darling me.
26:11I'm not scuffing my bed.
26:14Nice one.
26:16That end is fine.
26:17We can just touch up it.
26:18You need to go up over your block then.
26:20Let me come on that side.
26:21On that side.
26:22Now, see if you can get into that corner.
26:24There you go.
26:25No, I can't.
26:26No, I can't.
26:28I physically can't.
26:29Okay.
26:29So how about we do this?
26:31Sav, I can't.
26:32Look, it's scuffing the bed.
26:33You're going to ruin all my gilding that I've spent ages doing.
26:35Let me not do it at this end.
26:36Here we go.
26:37It could be literally a whole foot smaller than this.
26:39Did not need this, to be honest.
26:40I wish he'd cut it much shorter.
26:42This is far too big.
26:50Right.
26:53Good.
27:00And that's where the mattress goes.
27:02The final resting place of the workbench is.
27:05They're coming back into the chateau.
27:18Tagged.
27:23Returning to help me judge the final challenge are experienced renovators Nick and Nicole.
27:29And with only an hour to go, they want to see how the pairs are getting on.
27:34Keep going.
27:34We've got one more to do.
27:35Yeah.
27:36Don't stop.
27:36Nearly finished.
27:37We're in the chateau.
27:38We change our life in so many ways.
27:40Nothing would be the same after this.
27:42Nearly there.
27:43Nearly there.
27:43Because this is the final renovation challenge, it's all become very real now that it's either
27:48us or Zav and Tash.
27:51Tell me where the pictures go.
27:53Yeah there.
27:54It's fine.
27:54We both really want the room to be that beautiful finished product and we just want to show
28:00that we can pull it all together now.
28:02We just need to get organs blazing.
28:04There's absolutely no time to spare.
28:05We are going to be busy until Max says to stop.
28:10We need to hang the sconces and the frames and the shelf.
28:15We've got five minutes.
28:20I'm looking for some flowers for our bedside tables.
28:24We've got some lovely vases.
28:26That one there.
28:27Like that.
28:28OK.
28:28Done.
28:29Go on.
28:32Sorry garden.
28:46It's tools down time for your final room renovation.
28:50It's time.
28:51Let's go.
28:51We did it.
28:53Did it.
28:53Smashed it.
28:54You happy?
28:55Yeah.
28:56Yeah.
28:57You can now dress and set your rooms for your individual style.
29:00We'll be up soon to review your principal bedrooms and customised beds.
29:09I think we hit the brief completely on the head.
29:13We've pushed the limits of what we thought we could achieve with renovation.
29:17And we've come out the other side with a gorgeous bedroom that I think we can hold our heads up
29:22and say completely represents who we are and feel really proud of it.
29:25We are exhausted.
29:28I've never been so tired in my life.
29:30But we did it.
29:30That's the main thing.
29:32We don't want to leave.
29:33We'd be absolutely devastated to leave.
29:35Yeah.
29:36All we can do now is wait and hope and dream.
29:41At the beginning of the week, our final two pairs were asked to show off their individual styles by turning
29:47an upstairs room into their very own principal bedroom, complete with a bespoke bed.
29:54After six days and only 700 euros to transform the spaces, which pair will be worthy winners?
30:02Ooh.
30:03Ooh.
30:05Making full use of the 700 euro budget, Zav and Tash have brought their signature classic style.
30:12To bring the outside in, the pair turn to nature inspired design with floral wallpaper and bespoke botanical art.
30:20Oh, wow.
30:21Oh, wow.
30:23First impression.
30:24Oh, wow.
30:25I think.
30:25Oh, wow.
30:27I'm impressed.
30:28Yeah.
30:28Complimenting their handmade half wall panelling.
30:32They've breathed new life into their vintage finds, including a pair of bespoke bedside tables.
30:39And for a little more than 100 euros, their handmade four-poster bed has become the defining feature of the
30:46room.
30:47I know.
30:48It's come together really well.
30:49It really has, hasn't it?
30:50So the customised bed started life as a headboard and a footboard, as standard, but Zav has turned it into
30:57a four-poster using these lengths of timber and he's routed a detail onto every single edge.
31:02Yeah, looking closely in there, you can see it's done a little bit uneven, but you know, there's definitely a
31:09lot of effort that's gone into that and it does look really good.
31:13It's the finishing touches that really elevate the space.
31:16Yes.
31:17The sconces either side of the bed actually makes the panelling work.
31:20Yes, it does.
31:21I completely agree.
31:23And it's beautifully light and bright and fresh.
31:26But chateau-esque.
31:28Chateau-esque.
31:29Zav has made the bedside tables from the bottom of two dining chairs, which is just inspired.
31:35Oh, yeah.
31:36That's really clever.
31:38What do you think is the overall colour scheme?
31:39For the feel of the chateau, I think it works really well.
31:43They've tied it all together in a very, very clever way.
31:46And also, obviously, I love how they've gone crazy with the gilding of things.
31:51A little bit everywhere.
31:52But again, they've threaded it together, haven't they?
31:54Exactly.
31:54As with the green.
31:56What do you think to the general layout?
31:57Have I used the space well?
31:59Personally, I would have done the same as them, because you have the view out.
32:02You know, if it's your forever bedroom, that's what you really want to experience on a day-to-day basis.
32:07Although it's beautiful, it also feels quite practical to me.
32:10You've got a big work surface next to your bed for a glass of water, or a book, or your
32:14glasses.
32:15A little area here is a dressing table.
32:18Plenty of storage throughout.
32:20It's comfortable.
32:21It's workable.
32:22It's liveable.
32:24I've also noticed a little picture frame.
32:26So, actually, they made the artwork themselves.
32:28There's mint leaves from the garden that they framed, and there's seeds from Mauritius,
32:32which is where Zav is from.
32:34They're really personal to them.
32:37So, neither Zav or Tash could sew when they started this competition.
32:41But they gave it a shot.
32:42They learned.
32:43And actually, Tash has now created all the curtains around the bed and at the window.
32:48What do you think?
32:48The finish of the sewing leaves a bit for the imagination.
32:53But time constraints, they're great, and it looks really elegant.
32:57And actually, Tash has really lent in to the gold gilding.
33:01Have you seen it on the end of the bed, look?
33:02That is gorgeous.
33:05This is the piece de resistance of the entire room.
33:07This is the wow when you walk in.
33:10I think it's fair to say Zav and Tash have created their dream bedroom.
33:15This is their actual ambition for how they want their life to look.
33:18This is personal.
33:20Yeah.
33:21And you can see it reflected in there.
33:22Very much so, personality.
33:24Well, that is not a bad first room.
33:27I get the impression the next room is going to be very different.
33:35Oh, wow.
33:37Also maxing out their €700 budget, the Joshes have gone big and bold with their principal bedroom.
33:43We've said it before, but I think we need to say it again.
33:46Wow.
33:47What a transformation.
33:50How different is this room from the other room?
33:53Spending a quarter of their budget on fabric, the Joshes have upholstered their statement
33:57two-metre headboard in blush pink to contrast against the dramatic black walls.
34:03It's completely different.
34:04George's. Night and day.
34:06And yet so very Josh and Josh.
34:08It's opulent is the word that comes to mind for me.
34:12Oh, my goodness, the ceiling's gone.
34:15Yeah.
34:15And the headboard, they've made that from scratch.
34:19It's a proper statement piece.
34:21It is a statement piece.
34:22It's super elegant.
34:23It's super suave.
34:24If you look along the line slightly, it wavers in and out.
34:28But I mean, for a first go, not bad, huh?
34:31No.
34:32It is just very impressive.
34:34It was, however, quite expensive.
34:36So the material for the headboard, the curtains, these little chairs, that was over €150.
34:42Wow.
34:43But worth it?
34:44Absolutely.
34:45Alongside their bed, the Joshes crafted bedside tables from leftover wood
34:50and customised a €25 dresser to complete the space.
34:54So I really love the dressing table they've made on the far wall.
34:57And they've actually taken a standard desk, ripped it in half, and then used half against the wall.
35:02And they've even trimmed down the drawers to make it fully functional.
35:05That is clever.
35:06That is clever.
35:07Because obviously they didn't have the space, did they?
35:09Yeah.
35:09And that really does maximise it.
35:10It does.
35:11They have a very good eye.
35:12So they've done the side tables.
35:14They made them out of individual bits of 2x2 timber and fixed them all together.
35:20Everywhere you look, there's something else going on and catching the eye.
35:24I'm loving the colour scheme.
35:26The soft pinks.
35:28Yeah, I was worried about the darkness of the room.
35:32But actually, the pink, especially kind of around the windows and things, really brings the light back in again.
35:38It doesn't feel dark and dingy, which is not something I thought I'd say for a room with four black
35:44walls.
35:44Yeah.
35:45The art?
35:46That's actually bark they found on the grounds that they've painted gold and then mounted in a frame they painted
35:52black.
35:52A lot of creativity gone into this room.
35:55I think they've struck a really nice balance of classical and contemporary.
36:00These chairs, when they arrived, had a hideous dark orange fabric.
36:05So they've even re-upholstered them.
36:07Very nicely done.
36:08With the beading and stuff around it as well.
36:10Yeah, exactly.
36:11Attention to detail, that's their thing.
36:13Yeah.
36:14Well, this is not going to be an easy decision to make, is it?
36:18No.
36:18No.
36:19No.
36:19Both couples have worked very hard.
36:21We were hoping it was going to be easy, but no.
36:25Shall we have a chat?
36:26I think we need to.
36:27Yes.
36:30I'm really sad that it's over.
36:32It just feels very surreal.
36:34We've been in this world and in this bubble, in this beautiful house for so long.
36:39And we love it and we don't want it to end.
36:42We've worked really hard.
36:44I think we can say that we definitely did enough.
36:46We've fallen in love with the chateau and it's like, we feel like we've got such a vision for what
36:49it could be.
36:50But it's neck and neck at this point.
36:52Yeah.
36:52The competition is tight.
37:01Two pairs of aspiring chateau owners have battled it out in their final renovation challenge.
37:07Creating their very own stylish bedrooms.
37:10They've had six days and €700 to complete their designs.
37:14But there can only be one winner.
37:17It's now up to Nick, Nicole and I to decide.
37:20So, Zav and Tasha's room, what did you think?
37:23Beautiful.
37:24That very first impression, very warm and cosy and inviting.
37:27It was very impressive.
37:27Mm.
37:28So that four-poster bed was really adventurous and there was lots of skill displayed.
37:33Was it perfect?
37:34No.
37:35No.
37:36But I think a really good effort.
37:39I think it's fair to say Zav's carpentry skills have gone through the roof.
37:43In an early challenge, Zav made a bar which was a bit rough around the edges.
37:47So to see that evolve into making a four-poster bed from scratch with all that beautiful detailing,
37:52it's really admirable.
37:54That evolution of skill is really impressive.
37:57Now, Tash is a self-confessed magpie.
38:00We've noticed.
38:00She's gilded everything.
38:02But I think it's really nicely done.
38:04It works.
38:04I think the other thing that worked really well was the wallpaper, which was really nicely chosen.
38:09Mm.
38:09And what about the Mauritian seeds? Did you like them?
38:11That's a very nice way to bring a little bit of home into your potentially new home.
38:17I would personally prefer the bed to be on the other side of the room,
38:21so that that would be the first thing that you see when you walk in through the door,
38:24because that, to me, is the wow factor.
38:26I think I agree on the first impression, but actually, as a practical bedroom,
38:30when I want to wake up in the morning and look out over this view,
38:33I think I'd have had it exactly the way they did.
38:35I disagree.
38:37But I can see your point, and the window would get lost a little bit.
38:41And speaking of big wow factor when you walk in the room,
38:44Josh and Josh's room.
38:46Yes.
38:47That definitely had the wow.
38:48That was, you know, you'd just open a door and you'd just go,
38:51oh, my goodness, this is stunning.
38:55Now, what did you think to painting all the walls black?
38:58Was it risky?
38:59Very.
39:00That was a huge gamble, right?
39:02Because I thought it would just make the room so entirely dark,
39:05but with the really soft pink and all the small details,
39:09which brought the light in, it was beautifully done.
39:11It actually looked quite inviting in the end.
39:13It did.
39:14Now, that giant headboard, did they bite off more than they could chew?
39:17I think that was a big gamble for them.
39:19Yeah.
39:19When you walked in the room, it works.
39:21When you walked around to look at the bed from the window,
39:25I felt that it took over.
39:26I think another thing for me, obviously, on closer looking at the skill set,
39:29the cutting of the foam and things, it's a little bit to be desired.
39:33But again, first attempt at making a two-metre-tall headboard,
39:37that's a fantastic effort.
39:38Absolutely.
39:39Really good.
39:40The dresser, I thought, was an incredible idea.
39:43And I love the artwork that they produced with the wood, gold gilding, all of that thing.
39:49It's an incredibly striking room, but some of the more practical details,
39:54such as the side tables, for instance, they hosted that beautiful vase,
39:58but where do I put my glass of water at night?
40:01It was more of a sculpture than a side table.
40:04Exactly, exactly.
40:05But then we're nitpicking now, aren't we?
40:08Now, the gold ceiling.
40:10They did run out of paint, but do you think they got away with it?
40:13I think the gold ceiling reflects the light and it creates a little bit more kind of warmth in the
40:17room.
40:17But I think to your point, that lack of paint, that finish, could have been better.
40:24Two beautiful rooms, loads of skills shown. This is super tough.
40:28It is very, very difficult.
40:30Yeah, and, you know, week on week, they've come on again. It's impressive to see.
40:35I think we know what we've got to do.
40:42With such impressive transformations, have we seen enough to award a winner?
40:58Well done, everybody. I was blown away by what you achieved in such a short time on a limited budget.
41:05Which is a true reflection of real chateau life.
41:08Your personality has shone through in your designs.
41:12Plus, it was so impressive to see all the techniques used in both rooms.
41:16And you all really brought your A-game.
41:19Sam, Tash, tell me about your design style.
41:22Well, we really love classic grand chateau style.
41:26So, we love the sweeping four-poster bed.
41:28We love the elaborate sort of drapage.
41:31And we love having, you know, a bit of floral wallpaper bringing the garden into the room.
41:35So, that's why I made those lovely frames.
41:37And you love a bit of routing, don't you?
41:39I like routing.
41:40I like routing.
41:42I like sanding.
41:43I like playing around in the workshop.
41:46So, we went with a four-poster bed for that reason.
41:49Gave me lots to do.
41:50Yeah.
41:52Josh and Josh, tell me more about the inspiration of your bedroom.
41:56So, we really wanted to bring a modern take on what we could bring to the chateau.
42:00And we wanted to go really, like, bold and vibrant with the dark colours, with the lovely pinks.
42:06We wanted to kind of bring in some of the classic French furniture to kind of honour where we are
42:11in France.
42:12But, yeah, we wanted to bring our own personalities into the room and that sense of, like, bougie, elegant, dramatic.
42:19So, yeah, we really hope you like it.
42:22It's amazing to have witnessed the evolution of all of you throughout this competition.
42:26And I'm really proud of you.
42:29Unfortunately, only one pair can win this quarter of a million pound prize.
42:35If we were basing this on the business renovation challenge, I would go one way.
42:41But, if we were basing it on the bedroom renovations, I would go the other way.
42:47So, we've had to make a decision.
42:49Surely not.
42:53And the pair, winning this phenomenal prize.
43:08We'll have to be decided after one last challenge, because it was too close to call.
43:14Well done, everybody.
43:15I hate you.
43:29You got us good.
43:30I went all fizzy.
43:32Oh, God.
43:37It was just too tight to call.
43:40So, go get some sleep and all will be revealed when I see you back here tomorrow.
43:44Well done.
43:50That was very unexpected.
43:52We were all shocked.
43:53We were like, what?
43:54Yeah.
43:55Now we just have to wait in anticipation to find out what's happening next.
43:58Yeah.
43:59They had us for a minute there.
44:00That was stress level 9,000.
44:02Yeah.
44:02Oh, you were clutching my hands so hard.
44:06Yeah.
44:07It was a very nervy moment, that.
44:09Panic.
44:09Yeah.
44:10Whatever happens, we'll, you know, do what we always do and we'll smash it.
44:14We're never going to get this chance again.
44:15So, yeah, we're going to throw everything into it.
44:17Our heart.
44:18Our soul.
44:19Yeah.
44:20We're going to go for it.
44:21Absolutely.
44:21We have the energy.
44:23We have the passion.
44:24We have the enthusiasm.
44:24We have the drive.
44:25And we're going to smash it.
44:27Bring it on.
44:28Bring it on.
44:28Next time.
44:30This is the final push.
44:33The heat is on.
44:35Whoa.
44:36That's too hot.
44:37In the final face-off.
44:39Pray for us manifest.
44:41For the keys to a new life.
44:43We're very nervous.
44:44Who will be blown off course?
44:46Really living the dream now.
44:48Yee!
44:49Oh, my God.
44:50And who will claim the crown?
44:52The pair who have won are...
44:59The two-to much.
45:05The trap that Jesus brought me.
45:06The other way.
45:06The trap that Jesus brought me.
45:19The trap that Jesus rebuilt.
45:27He denied himself to God.
