00:00We're here today because California is the epicenter of America's drunk driving epidemic.
00:08We're here today as moms, as dads, as Californians.
00:14And we're here because this crisis is an urgent call to action.
00:20We're here announcing California's largest and most significant anti-drunk driving and
00:27anti-dui push in over two decades.
00:32Our approaches are many and varied from closing accountability loopholes to ensuring that we
00:39protect our roads from multiple offenders, but we share one goal, and that is to save
00:46lives and to keep California roads safe.
00:49I am proud to stand here as the author of Assembly Bill 1830.
00:54This bill is an opportunity for us to save lives before the car even starts.
01:01Under this bill, anyone who is convicted of a drunk driving offense in California will
01:07be required to install an ignition interlock device, a breathalyzer.
