00:00Yeah, I mean, Love is Blind, Bachelorette, what are you guys doing?
00:02Are you guys not checking anything?
00:04Like, let's check into this stuff.
00:05Listen, they want the drama, and Taylor was going to bring the drama.
00:11Welcome back to Yap Session.
00:13Benson Boone is going back on tour, and he's giving us all something to thirst over.
00:18Did you guys see this ridiculous video?
00:21Yeah, so he's back on tour.
00:23I didn't see the video.
00:25He looks amazing.
00:26I feel like he's the type of guy, he wants to be a heartthrob so badly.
00:32And like, don't get me wrong, he looks good, he's doing the flips, you know?
00:36Why is he cooking?
00:37I don't understand how this is related to his tour.
00:39Well, you know, the people calling out on the internet, he does try to copy Harry Styles, in my opinion.
00:44This is the Wanted Man tour, and Harry Styles, when he promotes his tour, as he often is in the
00:49kitchen as well.
00:50Well, yeah, for the most recent tour, I mean, I have trauma from looking at him, like,
00:54sipping off a ladle on Ticketmaster, for the love of God.
00:57But, so, Harry did have a little cooking shift.
01:02I am going twice.
01:03It was worth the trauma.
01:05To the Benson Boone concert?
01:06Oh, God, no.
01:06Sorry.
01:08Well, this is the debate online.
01:09We've got Benson Boone versus Harry Styles.
01:11People say that there would be no Benson Boone if Harry Styles hadn't taken a few years off for making
01:15music.
01:15Because the peak of Benson Boone's popularity was during Harry Styles' break.
01:22So, people do say, like, oh, Benson Boone is just trying to reheat Harry Styles' nachos.
01:26Like, it's not.
01:27Wow.
01:28That's kind of a fun burn, though.
01:31I've never heard that.
01:32Reheat someone's nachos?
01:33I mean, look, Benson's giving body-ody-ody.
01:36He is.
01:37He just flips on stage.
01:38He sings, you know, better than really any male pop star right now, just vocal range-wise.
01:43But he doesn't get the critical love at all.
01:46His last album was Panned, Moonbeam, Ice Cream.
01:50You know, he's sort of the Bon Jovi of this era where it's like, he's hot, his songs are fun,
01:55but he's not going to win any Grammys.
01:57Right.
01:58I mean, I think it's a shame because he has a beautiful voice.
02:00He knows has to hit the high notes.
02:01But I'm just, like, at least for me, I'm just not into the Moonbeam Ice Cream type of music genre,
02:08I guess.
02:09But is he considered pop?
02:11Absolutely.
02:11So what would you consider Harry Styles?
02:13Also pop, but it's just, like, a different style.
02:16He's, like, also...
02:16Same genre.
02:17Poor Benson Boone.
02:18Catching strays from the world.
02:19I know.
02:20I'm doing right.
02:21I mean, he seems like a nice guy.
02:22I don't mean to be a hater.
02:23He's very talented.
02:24I can't do a flip.
02:25What do you feel about the outfits?
02:27The unitards.
02:28Your favorite.
02:28Oh, no, she's...
02:29Okay.
02:31Hey, Benson.
02:32We love you.
02:32We love you.
02:33We swear.
02:34We love you.
02:34Big Ben.
02:37His tours sell out like that.
02:39I mean, people love to see...
02:40They do.
02:41You know, what he's bringing to the table.
02:42He wears Elton John, you know, style, you know, jumpsuits, flashy.
02:47Yeah, do the Bowie-esque, too.
02:48T-shirt gun into the crowd.
02:50Like, some of his, like, support crew, they're equally hot and cute.
02:54He's got this kind of, like, it almost feels like, I'm going to call it Magic Mike for Mormons.
02:59I would agree.
03:01I would agree.
03:01Because he is from Salt Lake, right?
03:03He is.
03:03Yeah.
03:04And that one song you told me that he has where he's literally screaming, I'm like, okay,
03:07that's the song I do know, and I like that.
03:09I like that one.
03:10Every time it pops up on my TikTok, I'm like, okay, this is cute.
03:12Oh, yeah.
03:13And it's catchy.
03:18It does have, like, 900 million views on TikTok, not TikTok, YouTube, though.
03:26Oh, okay.
03:27Oh, he's a huge star.
03:28And, you know, his last music video, he's really hamming up the sex appeal.
03:32He's washing a car and is, like, you know, booty shorts.
03:36Like, he's really leaning.
03:38So he's thirst trapping.
03:38Leaning into this.
03:39Leaning into this.
03:40It's like that 1970s sexy.
03:42Absolutely.
03:43Yeah.
03:44Burt Reynolds on a bearskin rug.
03:46He's giving the women and the gay men something to kind of, like, show them.
03:50I feel like he would have thrived at the roller disco.
03:52Yeah.
03:52Oh, that would have been fun.
03:54You could be, like, moving.
03:56The lights are going.
03:57You're skating.
03:58Ooh, ooh, ooh.
04:00Wait, did you guys see that he has, like, a Finsta account?
04:03I guess it's not such a Finsta because I'm following him.
04:05But it's called, like, Benny's Flip Phone.
04:07And he posts, like, more personal, intimate, like, Instagram stories.
04:11And it seems more like the real him.
04:14He's showing us a little bit more of the real side of him.
04:16And he posted a really funny one this week that was, like,
04:20you guys, this is why I'll never crowd surf.
04:22I'm afraid one of you is going to bite my junk off.
04:25He basically just came out.
04:26He's like, you guys are so, like, feral in my crowd.
04:30Like, I can't get into the crowd.
04:32Like, I'm going to lose it.
04:33Yeah, but it's like, you do videos like this,
04:34and you're going to surprise people are feral in your crowd.
04:36I mean, you're training him to be thirsty for you.
04:38He's like, be feral from a distance.
04:40Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
04:41I mean, it's every time he does a backflip for me,
04:43I'm, like, on the edge of my seat as if he doesn't do one
04:45every single time he performs.
04:47It's his shtick.
04:47It's his shtick, but eventually, isn't he going to, like,
04:50roll his ankle or something?
04:51And what if he does?
04:52Then he can't do backflips anymore.
04:52On the red carpet, he's been politely declining.
04:55People are like, do a backflip.
04:56It's like, you know, dance, monkey, dance.
04:58And he's like, I'm not dressed for that this night.
05:01I must save that for the performance.
05:02These pants would rip in half.
05:03Yeah, exactly.
05:04Yeah.
05:04I mean, how many more backflips in his life can he do?
05:07And that's, like, what people go to see him for.
05:10You know he's going to do a backflip, so what if he doesn't?
05:12He's a really good singer, too, on top of it.
05:14I'm not, you know, a Benson apologist.
05:16Like, I'm definitely more Team Harry,
05:18but why do we have to pit them against each other?
05:19I know.
05:19No, exactly.
05:20I wouldn't be pitning as much as, like, I love, I mean,
05:23many music artists have their inspirations and everything.
05:27I just think it's, like, I don't know.
05:29Is it a coincidence?
05:30Is it not?
05:31Well, meanwhile, in the same group of guys,
05:33you have Shawn Mendes, who has completely disappeared,
05:35except every once in a while he pops up shirtless on a beach,
05:37and I'm like, oh, yeah, Shawn Mendes.
05:39I know, wait, the other day I saw photos of him, like,
05:42canoodling with his new lady, and they were in a hotel,
05:45like, on their balcony or whatever.
05:47And I was like, oh, there's Shawn Mendes.
05:49What's he been up to?
05:51There he is.
05:51I'm trying to think, who'd I rather?
05:53Shawn Mendes, Benson Boone, or Harry Styles?
05:55I think I'm picking Harry.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Yeah, just in terms of, like, cuteness.
05:59He seems very authentic.
06:00He's a little less cringy some kind of way, so.
06:02I think he's, like, not that everyone,
06:04all of them are stars, but, like, Harry's, like,
06:06I feel like he's a star.
06:08I think he's going to stand the test of time,
06:10or I think the other two, I don't know.
06:11Yeah, I agree with that, but I do love Benson,
06:13and Benson didn't maybe win a Grammy,
06:15but he did perform at the Grammys.
06:17He did, with Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser
06:19ripping it off, revealing the unitar.
06:22That's the step toward winning.
06:24Right, right.
06:26And he looked great, and he did do a backflip,
06:29so, dead.
06:30But his music is fun.
06:31It's upbeat.
06:32Like, we could make a playlist
06:33with all these guys on it.
06:35It's sort of grocery store music, though, right?
06:37You're, like, shopping, you're in the crouton aisle,
06:39and you're, like, yeah, I'm feeling good.
06:43You could show Shazam, like, you said,
06:44hold on, give me a second, give me a second.
06:46Yeah.
06:47Yeah, it definitely has a time and place,
06:49and it's mostly, like, dance, fun, lighthearted.
06:52He's sort of, like, made-up moonbeam ice cream.
06:54It wasn't even a real thing,
06:56so it's not giving us any sort of, like,
06:57deep underlying emotion.
06:59Maybe he's going to sell ice cream at his tour.
07:01That's why he's, like, in the kitchen.
07:02Well, he did have a crumble cookie.
07:04We did test-taste those in the office.
07:06Which was good.
07:07I hated it.
07:08Oh, my God.
07:09You just hate him.
07:10You can't win.
07:11You cannot win with a lemon.
07:12I'm sorry, lemon does not belong on brownies.
07:15I thought it was really good.
07:16No, I kind of do agree with that.
07:17Lemon on brownies sounds crazy.
07:19You like that one?
07:20It was crazy, but it was different.
07:21It was unique.
07:22I love a lemon anything, so you're to me.
07:25Yeah, you know what?
07:25Me too.
07:26But I guess Lauren won't be eating his cookies,
07:29going to his concert.
07:31But, like, no head, no shade.
07:33Nice guy.
07:34Beautiful guy.
07:34But wish him the best.
07:36Moving on to another kind of game.
07:37Very contentious topic.
07:38We've got the Bachelorette,
07:39the canceled Bachelorette season.
07:41Oh, my God.
07:42Another Utah native.
07:44But Taylor Frankie Paul is back on social media.
07:47She's flirting with the rumored winner of the season
07:51we'll never see.
07:52Right.
07:52You know, what's going on?
07:54What do you guys,
07:54how do you feel about the whole fallout?
07:56I mean, she did post just playing piano.
07:59I guess she's teaching herself how to play piano
08:01in her free time, I guess, since taking a break.
08:05Right.
08:05I do find it interesting that that's how she kind of
08:09made her reappearance on social media.
08:11I mean, obviously, I'm sure she's seen everything.
08:15And between that and commenting on Doug,
08:19the winner's post, it was like,
08:22because there was a duck in the video
08:24and she commented a duck saying, like,
08:26oh, kind of like, I saw what you did.
08:27Maybe it was like an inside joke they had.
08:29I don't know.
08:30I wish we could see how this all panned out.
08:32So Doug is the rumored winner
08:34and he is a ocean lifeguard.
08:37Yeah, very attractive.
08:38And male model, good looks, aspiring musician.
08:41And he's been using this kind of whiff of fame
08:44that never really happened.
08:46He was sort of, had a little bit of a stolen moment as well,
08:48but now he's putting out music,
08:49very cheesy music in my opinion.
08:51But they're, like, flirting now on social media
08:53and people are even calling him Doug Coda.
08:56Yeah, because he looks like, duh.
08:58He looks like Dakota.
08:59Her ex.
09:00Her ex.
09:00Dakota Mortensen.
09:01Yeah, Doug Coda.
09:02If anybody hasn't been following this story,
09:03the long story short version of it
09:05is that Taylor Franke Paul was selected as the Bachelorette.
09:08She went on and filmed her season.
09:09We hadn't seen it yet.
09:10It was supposed to premiere on March 22nd.
09:13Right before that, her, you know, a video,
09:17a very intimate video of her fighting with her ex, Dakota,
09:21was released somehow TMZ got a hold of it.
09:24We still have no idea how.
09:26And it is a very graphic video of the two of them fighting.
09:31She is, in my opinion, not okay in the video.
09:37And it's clearly from his point of view,
09:40he's holding the camera, recording it,
09:42but she's throwing chairs in the video.
09:43You can hear her daughter in it, as, you know, we've been told.
09:48And it's extremely scary and frightening to watch the incident play out.
09:52And to hear the screams and the crying is really...
09:55So they ended up, this was days before the show was set to be released.
10:00This video came out through TMZ.
10:02It was from the original incident in 2023 that we did know about
10:06because that's how the Secret Lives of Women Wives started their show,
10:11by releasing body cam footage of the police responding to a domestic violence call.
10:16And it was to Taylor, Frankie Paul's house.
10:19But the stuff that we saw in that moment was not...
10:23was kind of what happened when the police got there.
10:25So everybody thought we knew what was happening.
10:28We didn't know as much as we did.
10:30We see this new video.
10:31It's very scary for everybody involved,
10:34especially the children that you can hear in it,
10:37or her daughter, her child.
10:38And so then there's been a lot of fallout since then.
10:42And we don't really know a lot still.
10:43So everybody's kind of been speculating.
10:45So ABC...
10:46ABC pulls the plug, but...
10:48ABC pulls the plug, but...
10:50We already knew about this.
10:51They knew about this beforehand.
10:52And so now the network is getting backlash for maybe, you know,
10:56having a bit of a double standard.
10:57A double standard.
10:58Because how many men do we know that have done things that are much worse than us?
11:01Now, again, I'm not apologizing for the situation.
11:02It's terrible, and it's really a sad situation.
11:05But at the same time, you went into this knowing that already.
11:08So you already were aware this was a plot line on Mormon Wives,
11:11so it wasn't a surprise to anyone.
11:13But now suddenly it seems like we're having to switch course
11:15on something that we were already aware of.
11:18And again, I think about all the men.
11:20I'm not going to name names,
11:21but there's a lot of men that have done a lot of bad things
11:22that have gotten to continue their careers.
11:24And it feels like a bit of a double standard.
11:26And people suspect that maybe even the video is leaked by the ex.
11:30Right.
11:31There's so much chatter about it.
11:32None of it has been verified.
11:34We don't know how much ABC knew.
11:35We don't know who released the video.
11:37We don't know how all of these conclusions came to be.
11:40But what we do know is this video was from 2023,
11:43but was released somehow right before her season came out,
11:48which felt, from an outsider standpoint, kind of intentional.
11:51Yeah.
11:52Right.
11:52And it just seemed like, I don't know,
11:55it's all so sticky and it's all terrible.
11:57But then it's also like there's so many different things
11:59that people are tossing around as far as theories and thoughts
12:02and opinions.
12:03And I feel like there's so many that are valid.
12:04Yeah.
12:05Yeah.
12:05I hear a lot of people saying they feel bad for the guys
12:07who didn't get a chance to, I guess,
12:09have their big break on television.
12:10I will say, from my standpoint, looking at it all,
12:15it just wouldn't make sense for us to see all of this tumultuous
12:17stuff going on in the news prior to the show coming out.
12:20Right.
12:20And then now we're watching her navigate this new relationships.
12:25Like, I feel like pulling the plug just made the most sense.
12:28I do see.
12:29I mean, there are so many options, though.
12:30They could have played it and had at the beginning a slate saying,
12:33this aired before we had the video.
12:36You know what I mean?
12:36Kind of place it in context where we are in the world.
12:39Because to scrap the entire season does feel like a little bit
12:42of an overreaction.
12:42I mean, I think still things are being figured out,
12:45so maybe you delay it a few months until you figure out
12:48what's actually going to happen with this.
12:49Maybe we wait and see.
12:51And also another big thing that needs to be mentioned is
12:54a lot of people are calling her abuse as reactive abuse
12:57or kind of reactionary abuse because she was also,
13:00there are allegations that she was also being abused by him,
13:03that she was locked in a garage or something like that by the guy.
13:07So this sounds like there was a lot of bad stuff going on,
13:09and it's just not as cut and dry as people kind of want it to be.
13:11And I believe that this incident happened before she had her son ever with Dakota.
13:17So she has three children now.
13:19Two of them are with her ex-husband Tate,
13:22and her daughter that we believe we hear in the video is one of them.
13:25So she has a son and a daughter with Tate.
13:27When they got divorced, she started dating Dakota,
13:29and she had ever with Dakota, her son ever.
13:33I think that this video is from before they had ever.
13:37So there's a lot of their relationship that played out
13:39after this incident happened.
13:41And obviously we see parts of their relationship on the show.
13:45From what we see and we know,
13:47it's been a very tumultuous relationship.
13:50And I feel like my biggest takeaway is,
13:53I don't think she should have ever done The Bachelorette yet.
13:55I think she was a great choice for The Bachelorette.
13:57I think that the franchise needed something exciting.
14:01She is exciting.
14:02Everybody loves to watch her on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
14:05from what we see and the life that we see play out on TV.
14:09So it was a great choice for them to do.
14:12However,
14:13now seeing this new season of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives even,
14:17and watching how she is still so intertwined in Dakota's life,
14:21him and hers,
14:22she didn't really,
14:23like from how they're playing out this season,
14:26it was like she wasn't ready to become The Bachelorette.
14:28Right.
14:28To begin with.
14:30And a lot of the ladies were saying that too.
14:32Like,
14:32they didn't feel that she should have gone on to this season
14:34due to all of the stuff that they knew were going on behind the scenes.
14:37And the cast going forward has refused to film with her a lot of them.
14:40So they're not even able to move forward with filming
14:42for this upcoming season of Mormon Wives,
14:43which is,
14:44you know,
14:44speaks to,
14:45they were saying,
14:46they were speaking about the situation,
14:47but also like,
14:48they were kind of tired of dealing with her behind the scenes,
14:50which says something also.
14:52Season five production has been halted.
14:54Yeah.
14:54Hulu put it on pause.
14:55It's,
14:55it's the biggest reality hit for Hulu.
14:58I mean,
14:59it's really crazy.
15:00The numbers.
15:01It is a very good show.
15:02I mean,
15:03from,
15:03you know,
15:04what we think that we see,
15:06there's obviously much more going on behind the scenes in their real lives,
15:08but it's about Mormon Wives and them navigating being TikTok influencers.
15:14That's how they started.
15:15Taylor,
15:16Frankie,
15:16Paul created this mom talk universe and they've all built social media brands and they live in Utah and they
15:23have a bunch of kids.
15:24And it's just fun to see how they navigate being these influencers.
15:27Usually.
15:28But then there's this dark side of it that obviously we weren't seeing a ton of on the show except
15:35for the relationship side of it.
15:36That wasn't great.
15:38So I kind of want to see the season though.
15:40You know,
15:41I think,
15:41I'm with you.
15:43Let the dust settle a little bit.
15:44There's maybe a way to repackage it.
15:45Maybe there's a disclaimer.
15:47Maybe they do extra interviews.
15:49We're looking back on,
15:51you know,
15:52sort of with the context.
15:54But,
15:54you know,
15:55I,
15:55I'm,
15:55I think ABC is losing a lot of money.
15:58Yeah.
15:59Yeah.
15:59They definitely are.
15:59And they're leaving this entire season on the table.
16:02And it's like,
16:02I hate to be,
16:03you know,
16:04cynical about it,
16:05but I'm like,
16:05I want to see it.
16:06I want to see it.
16:07And I think it's also being that,
16:09so you realize the Mormon wives filming is now at a halt.
16:12It's kind of like Tyler,
16:13Frankie,
16:14Paul,
16:14like that drama started.
16:16And then a whole house of cars dropped down because also Jesse's getting divorced.
16:20And on top of Jesse getting divorced,
16:22she,
16:22her,
16:23she allegedly hooked up with one of the other mom talk members,
16:28ex-husband and Miranda.
16:30That's her name.
16:30And she hooked up and then,
16:32and then she posted on TikTok about it.
16:34It's like,
16:34there's so much drama now that I guess we're not going to see.
16:38Maybe it'll be addressed later once they resume filming.
16:41It's such a sticky situation because like,
16:45I feel like every opinion makes sense.
16:47Everybody's like,
16:48they're losing so much money.
16:49We should see the season.
16:50It was filmed before this video was released.
16:52It wasn't filmed before the incident happened.
16:54So like you guys said,
16:55ABC knew that this domestic violence investigation call had happened,
17:01but then it's like,
17:03she also in the video,
17:06it sounds like she's hitting her daughter with one of the chairs that she's throwing,
17:10which is terrible.
17:10So then it's like,
17:11you don't want to promote somebody in this state,
17:14whether it was,
17:16you know,
17:17a situation.
17:17We obviously don't have all the details on,
17:19but you also don't want to be promoting somebody who's in this state.
17:23And then being like,
17:24oh,
17:24she's our lead for a massive franchise show.
17:27And the show is all about selling the love story.
17:30They really,
17:31you know,
17:31do such a good job on The Bachelor and The Bachelor out of keeping everything like,
17:35you know,
17:36romantic,
17:36dreamy,
17:38helicopter date,
17:39you know,
17:39they're looking over the beach.
17:41It's,
17:41it's also,
17:42it's the fantasy.
17:43Right,
17:43it is.
17:43And for that reason,
17:46it's,
17:46you're probably right,
17:47Malik,
17:47that it's like,
17:48it's just better,
17:49but just cut ties and move on,
17:51you know,
17:51but you know,
17:52now we're all more interested than ever.
17:54Yeah.
17:54So which side of this debate is going to win out?
17:57I do think that the whole fantasy type of ask vision that they usually do is why they brought Taylor
18:05Frankie Paul in in the first place.
18:06And I think people were starting to think it was a little dull.
18:08I have been seeing things on social media about who other people want to see for maybe the next season,
18:14throwing out some ideas.
18:15I saw one that they pitched like,
18:17oh,
18:17what about Maura Higgins?
18:18She's the host on Love Island.
18:20Like they could do a Love Island style where it's like,
18:23we watch like the next day as it's happening.
18:25Like that would be cool.
18:26I saw other people were like,
18:28what if we did Layla and Miranda?
18:30Cause they're the two single girls on Mormon wives.
18:32Like what if they did one together?
18:34So I think it could be interesting seeing how,
18:38I guess,
18:39even if we don't see this season,
18:40how the idea of having her as the bachelorette will influence the future leads.
18:46But there's other ways to mix up the bachelorette than having somebody that has a checkered past that,
18:51you know,
18:51something might pop up.
18:52Right.
18:53So maybe note to the people casting for the bachelorette in the future,
18:55let's have somebody with a clean as a whistle background.
18:57The background checks are going to be ramped up to CIA levels at this point.
19:01I mean,
19:01Love is Blind,
19:02Bachelorette,
19:03what are you guys doing?
19:04Are you guys not checking anything?
19:05Like,
19:05let's check into this stuff.
19:06Listen,
19:06they want the drama.
19:07And Taylor was going to bring the drama.
19:09She was.
19:11You should not be on TV.
19:14All right,
19:14so bad week for Taylor,
19:16Frankie,
19:16Paul,
19:16bad couple of weeks.
19:17Really good couple of weeks for Ryan Gosling.
19:20Yeah.
19:21Yeah.
19:21He like fresh off the Oscars.
19:22People are already saying he's going to get Oscar buzz for the next,
19:26next year season.
19:28People are rad.
19:28Wow.
19:29Okay.
19:29Hail Mary.
19:31His outer space movie has racked up $300 million.
19:35He loves an outer space movie.
19:36It's currently the number one movie in America,
19:38like multiple weeks in a row.
19:39And he's,
19:40it's all about him.
19:41He's pretty much alone in space.
19:43I don't want to spoil the plot,
19:44but it's really him on a spaceship by himself.
19:47He eventually meets a friend.
19:48Oh,
19:49Lauren and I have seen it.
19:50Oh,
19:50this friend makes me sob.
19:51it looks like an alien,
19:52right?
19:53Yeah,
19:53yeah,
19:53it's an alien.
19:54It's an alien.
19:56It's like this movie is,
19:59is I would say a throwback to ET.
20:02It's a sentimental,
20:03it really feels like a Pixar movie or a Disney movie.
20:05It's actually produced by Amazon MGM.
20:08So Jeff Bezos is very happy.
20:10This investment is paying off.
20:12He's like,
20:12how do I merge my interests?
20:14Yeah,
20:14exactly.
20:15He's like,
20:15I sent my,
20:16I sent my wife to space.
20:17People didn't like that.
20:18What did we send Ryan Gosling?
20:21Watch him be on the blue origin.
20:24To promo the movie.
20:27Project Hail Mary on the spaceship.
20:29He did do,
20:30he's been doing a lot of press for the,
20:32for the movie,
20:32obviously.
20:33And he did an interview where someone said,
20:35would you ever go to space?
20:36And he's like,
20:36because he's been in a number of space movies now.
20:38He said,
20:39no,
20:40absolutely not.
20:41He's like,
20:41I enjoy playing an astronaut,
20:44pretending to be in space.
20:46Oh,
20:46they do not actually.
20:47They do zero gravity like so well.
20:49The movie really feels like you're in outer space and the visuals are
20:52incredible.
20:52people,
20:52I mean,
20:53it's sold out with IMAX and Dolby and people really want to see it for
20:57like the big blockbuster popcorn movie,
21:00you know,
21:00which is funny.
21:01You know,
21:02we were talking about Timothee Chalamet going,
21:04you know,
21:05pulling out all the stops for Marty Supreme.
21:07Oh yeah.
21:07And doing all these crazy stunts.
21:08But Ryan Gosling did kind of the same thing,
21:11but did it with charm.
21:12Yeah.
21:12You know,
21:13he went on jeopardy and it was a kind of a stunt where he,
21:15it was a fake final jeopardy answer.
21:17And he's like adorable.
21:18He was on some talk show.
21:19I think it was the tonight show and he surprised his wife with a,
21:22like a birthday thing.
21:24And she hates the surprises.
21:25And you can see there.
21:26He's just,
21:27he's pure charisma.
21:29He is the epitome of a movie star.
21:32He is what our generation needs to hold on to because he is just an A-lister of all A
21:41-listers.
21:41He does it.
21:42He seems to just do it right.
21:43Yeah.
21:44He goes,
21:44never forced.
21:45I can see it's like once many,
21:47many,
21:48many,
21:48many years go on.
21:49It's like how we talk about old Hollywood.
21:51Like he will be the future generations old Hollywood actor.
21:54And women,
21:55right?
21:55Yeah.
21:56Totally.
21:56When he did the final jeopardy,
21:57he wrote,
21:58I heart Eva on the side of it.
22:01And he also went on new heights,
22:02the podcast.
22:03So with Travis and Jason Kelsey.
22:06And so I feel like he's also,
22:08he's really good at tapping into those like mixed media moments.
22:11He uses his A-list power,
22:14in my opinion,
22:15the right way.
22:15It's like,
22:16he's still going to go on these big shows like the night,
22:19you know,
22:19like the late night shows,
22:20but then he's also tapping into new media.
22:22So he's getting those podcast visits that are cool and fun and fresh and younger,
22:28but he's on new heights talking about how he still gets told he played the worst corner in history on,
22:36was it,
22:37remember the Titans that he was in?
22:38Oh my God.
22:40That was like an old,
22:41old role many,
22:42many moons ago.
22:43A little throwback.
22:44I've been in love with him since the notebook,
22:46honey.
22:46So he can do no wrong in my book.
22:48You know what I'm noticing though?
22:49The difference between a Ryan Gosling and a Timothy Chalamet and a Harry Styles and a Benson Boone,
22:54authenticity.
22:54I agree.
22:55They're doing the same thing.
22:56I agree.
22:57You can't buy it.
22:58You can't buy it.
22:59You can't teach it.
23:00You can't teach it.
23:00It's that it factor.
23:01It's just that thing they have about them.
23:03It's like Benson,
23:04have a seat.
23:05Harry,
23:05come on.
23:06We like this.
23:07I mean,
23:08it's kind of wild that Ryan Gosling,
23:09you know,
23:10a year ago was nominated for Barbie at the Oscars for playing Ken.
23:15For playing Ken.
23:15And he crushed it at the Academy Awards at the ceremony.
23:18He did.
23:18He did this awesome,
23:19you know,
23:20musical number for I'm Just Ken with all the other Kens.
23:23And it was like,
23:24so you're like,
23:25this,
23:25he's just got the star power.
23:26He does.
23:27He does.
23:28He does.
23:28I mean,
23:28he was originally on the Mickey Mouse Club.
23:30Yeah.
23:31He was.
23:32I forget about that.
23:33Bruce Spears.
23:33Britney Spears.
23:35Christina Aguilera.
23:35Christina Aguilera.
23:36A lot of stars came out of that show.
23:38The big stars.
23:38And by the way,
23:39the stars from back in our era were,
23:41they were stars.
23:42They were not Benson,
23:43they were not arguable.
23:44Christina Aguilera,
23:45but she was on the top.
23:45Benson,
23:46he could not catch a break.
23:48He could not catch a break.
23:50I'm sorry,
23:51what can I say?
23:51I'm like,
23:52these stars are not starring like the stars used to star back in the day.
23:55It's true though,
23:56because now it's all like TikTok.
23:57You have to be like quick hits.
23:59You have to be grabby because you want to get the views.
24:01You're just trying to be like fast and crazy.
24:05But,
24:05you know,
24:05maybe they should bring back the Mickey Mouse Club.
24:07And I also feel like seeing you so much on TikTok,
24:10it just kind of waters you down a little bit.
24:11It's like you don't have the same effect when I see you on a movie and then I see you,
24:14you know,
24:15you take a couple months off and then,
24:16you know,
24:16you come back out to promote something else or whatever.
24:18It's like a whole different feel.
24:19It feels special.
24:20It was wild seeing on Spotify how big Benson Boone's numbers were.
24:25Like he has some songs in the billions of listens,
24:27literally.
24:28And I've barely ever heard of this man,
24:30but this is like a TikTok.
24:31This is like a TikTok thing.
24:33It's like a niche,
24:33you find your niche audience and then you just,
24:35you just abuse,
24:37you abuse the same audience to death.
24:39I don't know what it is,
24:39but then the rest of us are like,
24:42who is this guy?
24:43It's crazy.
24:43Like back in the day,
24:44I feel like stars were stars to everybody,
24:46but now they're like,
24:47they're stars to a very particular group and they love them.
24:49And no one else has ever heard of them.
24:51Right.
24:51That's like the algorithm.
24:52Yeah.
24:52It's the algorithm.
24:53We might need to send Benson Boone some crumble cookies after this.
24:56We love you,
24:57Benson.
24:58I was going to say,
24:58send me to the moon.
25:00That too,
25:01you know,
25:02get him on board.
25:02But Benson's self-referential about it,
25:04you know,
25:04he's made jokes in his videos about how,
25:06you know,
25:07he's,
25:07you know,
25:07gets bad reviews and stuff.
25:08So I think he did on his tour poster too.
25:11Yeah.
25:11He has a good sense of humor about it.
25:12Ryan Gosling has a great sense of humor.
25:14He carries this Project Hail Mary movie.
25:16It's making millions and millions of dollars.
25:18It's like a huge hit.
25:19And it's,
25:20it's really wild.
25:21But you know,
25:22Ryan Gosling,
25:22one place he was not this past week was at this nightmare Barbie convention.
25:28Barbie fest in Fort Lauderdale.
25:30Did you guys see these pictures?
25:32Yes.
25:32It's not so dream house.
25:34This story blew up on Reddit because people thought this was going to be like,
25:37you know,
25:38a fun place to interact with Barbie fans.
25:41Pink,
25:41glitter,
25:42fun.
25:42It looked like an empty warehouse with like,
25:45oh,
25:46it was like Florida.
25:48It's got that South Florida feel.
25:50We had Barbie core when Barbie came out.
25:53The guys were leaning into it.
25:54The girls were leaning into it.
25:55Oh yeah.
25:55If you weren't wearing pink in that movie theater,
25:57what were you doing?
25:58Yes.
26:00I love that.
26:03We were all like locked in,
26:05but then like a year and a half later,
26:08Barbie fest down in Fort Lauderdale sounds like a true crime episode.
26:13And the photos from it are like pitiful.
26:16I feel like you can hear the crickets in the room.
26:19Like what,
26:19what,
26:19what,
26:19who organized this?
26:21What's going on?
26:22They were selling tickets at minimum for $72 a dollar and at max $452 something like that.
26:27I think that's part of the problem.
26:28What'd you get for the $400 package?
26:29It was like VIP,
26:31but it sounds like you got the same thing for the $72 ticket.
26:33It's a swag bag with some,
26:34you know,
26:34dollar store crap in it.
26:36They had like,
26:36like hand sanitizer and they were like,
26:38not even the brand name.
26:39It was like off brand hand sanitizer.
26:41I mean,
26:42at least give the girl.
26:43Yeah.
26:45If you're going to give it,
26:46give it right.
26:46But people are comparing this to the fire festival.
26:49Fire fest.
26:49Those Bridgerton conventions that look bleak as hell.
26:52I mean,
26:53I felt so bad with the Bridgerton ones because these super fans were showing up in Victorian outfits,
26:59looking for like a ball.
27:00And it was like,
27:01it was a basement.
27:03Like what I don't understand is you would have to think that the Barbie fest at least would have to
27:08get permission to use the branding.
27:10I guess they licensed it.
27:12Apparently did.
27:12And Mattel was promoting it apparently,
27:14but they just,
27:14I guess,
27:15didn't follow through on the execution.
27:16Oh no.
27:17That's where the $400 went for licensing.
27:19Right.
27:19All the money went to the licensing and none of it went to the actual planning of the event.
27:24Yeah.
27:24I read one of the posts on Reddit that one of the person,
27:27one of the people that went to the event to try to,
27:29you know,
27:30consume Barbie stuff went and said,
27:32is this it?
27:32And they said,
27:33sadly,
27:34this is it.
27:34We keep getting this question all day.
27:36They were like,
27:37it was just nothing.
27:38There were no booths.
27:39They hadn't really gotten,
27:39they were like,
27:40they had small town local fairs that had more vendors and stuff.
27:43It looked like an empty warehouse.
27:45Yeah,
27:45it was empty.
27:46Very last minute.
27:47There was a couple of like Barbie boxes,
27:49which by the way,
27:49when you went to the Barbie movie,
27:51movie theaters had the Barbie box.
27:53They had the photo op.
27:53Yeah.
27:54Where you get in,
27:54you get with the cellophane,
27:56take a picture and stuff.
27:57You're Barbie,
27:57you're cash.
27:58I mean,
27:58and they would have got me with this too,
27:59because I would have thought,
28:00you know what,
28:01if I'm in Florida,
28:01why not?
28:02Why not?
28:02I thought of the Barbie thing,
28:03I'll spend 70 bucks.
28:05And then they would have got me.
28:06So I don't know.
28:06I don't even know,
28:07what am I supposed to check to make sure I don't get got?
28:09Like the fire festival,
28:10the Barbie mall.
28:11I'm like,
28:11how do I not get got?
28:13How do I know that people are actually showing up to this?
28:15And it's not just me.
28:16Yeah.
28:17Wait,
28:17did I see that the fire festival had a little comeback?
28:19Yeah.
28:20In Honduras.
28:21In Honduras.
28:22I mean,
28:22okay.
28:23At least you're somewhere beautiful and tropical.
28:26But who would buy that ticket knowing how badly they failed the first time?
28:30Yeah.
28:30I mean,
28:30I think their like VIP lunch at the original fire festival was like a cheese slice,
28:36two slices of bread in a Ziploc bag.
28:38I still can see the photo.
28:39It was horrible.
28:40Horrible.
28:41That's crazy.
28:41Yeah.
28:42I mean,
28:43who would buy a ticket?
28:44I was thinking maybe just rich people that just are like,
28:46let me just spend some money and see if I can go and see if anything comes of this.
28:49But they're not that reckless with their money.
28:51I mean,
28:52if they have enough to blow,
28:53who am I going to tell them?
28:54It's a bummer because,
28:55you know,
28:56also Barbie and,
28:57you know,
28:57Ken,
28:58they have a lot of kid fans.
