00:16so we are at the johnson space center in houston texas and we're in what this building is called
00:24the mission training center and this facility here is the orion mission simulator
00:44my primary role for artemis ii is as the chief training officer in charge of developing and
00:53then providing the astronauts all of the training they will need that's really interesting is i mean
00:59interesting to me that i'm going to have jeremy and c2 running the procedure right it's going to
01:04still be in just to give the ground a heads up so we are currently down our mic input on
01:11this
01:14that buddy's not going to work
01:23so this is a place where the astronauts can see how all of their displays and switches will look
01:30for the mission we simulate what the views look out the window the communication with houston so it also
01:39flies the rest of their um directions for really really quickly and pull orion away from the rest of
01:49we do a lot of different types of training here we simulate all the different phases of the mission
01:56from just a few minutes before liftoff all the way through we've splashed down in the pacific ocean
02:02and are making contact with the recovery teams with the recovery forces it shows the whole mission from
02:10liftoff in florida and then as our demonstration where they actually turn around and go back towards
02:20the second stage and practice the past several months have been really focused on contingencies so
02:25what happens when something something breaks and how do we react to it there's a certain you know few
02:33things that we don't have time to go pull out procedures for the the crew has to know hey this
02:41is what that looks like when this problem happens and here's immediately what i need to do for it
02:49at some points maybe related to suits off or while suits were still on siege one on that left side
02:59the the button um part the cap that's like the cap side of the snap
03:13you know some things are quite a bit different than than what we've done in the past we're going
03:18with the mind of what technology can we develop to enable us to stay for longer periods to enable us
03:25to
03:26be in regions that are kind of more extreme um when it comes to temperatures and and environment and
03:34and basically has like a tension break this is what i'm getting out of and uh to keep it centered
03:38so
03:39we need to get opening and centered um and then our artemis 2 astronauts could be the first human
03:46eyes to see some of these amazing features uh on the far side of the moon because they weren't lit
03:52for
03:52the situation of the apollo missions and this is designed to be where we're collaborative and make
03:58decisions like on the spot yes who provides all of the data to the scrum
04:04and the rest of the serve for making sure that all of just like we've learned so many things
04:11in low earth orbit on iss that will help us you know have helped us plan these missions to the
04:19moon
04:20doing these missions to the moon is going to help us understand so much about what we need to develop
04:25to to go to mars and
04:34you
04:35you
