00:00We transition to Pittsburgh, who, at the moment, don't have a starting quarterback.
00:08I mean, unless you are a big Will Howard guy, which, you know, hey, I'm into it a little bit.
00:15I am.
00:17I don't want to hear, oh, they know who their guy is.
00:21Well, then why isn't Aaron Rodgers already signed?
00:24Again, I know what the favorite is.
00:26Aaron Rodgers is just going to become a stealer.
00:28But why is this not already settled?
00:31Is this not silly, Joe, that Aaron Rodgers hasn't already agreed to come back for Pittsburgh next year?
00:37Well, I thought it was a Mike Tomlin thing last year, why we waited so long.
00:42But apparently it is an Aaron Rodgers thing, right?
00:45Again, this organization, just big picture, Kevin, since Ben Roethlisberger retired and moved on,
00:54they are in complete disarray without a game plan about how to solidify the quarterback position.
01:02And I understand they wanted to roll the dice with the veteran and Mike Tomlin wanted to feel comfortable with
01:08Aaron Rodgers.
01:09But he is no different than Russell Wilson was two years ago.
01:13I'm sorry.
01:13Just not.
01:14They are stuck in neutral.
01:16And again, they drafted Will Howard.
01:18And Will Howard has shown glimpses in training camp and, you know, obviously practice that potentially he could be that
01:25guy.
01:26But they got the journeyman coach in Mike McCarthy that all he does is regress from the time that he
01:32takes over an organization and a team.
01:35You know, look at Green Bay's success.
01:38Look at Dallas's success.
01:39He's regressed in back-to-back years, right?
01:43And back-to-back tenures in both of those organizations.
01:47And now this is the guy that Pittsburgh wants to rebuild with.
01:51And they want to go back to the promised land.
01:53I just don't see it.
01:54But, again, they were much better off just allowing Aaron Rodgers to just walk last year, draft a young quarterback
02:04or be in the running for a potential young quarterback that you could elevate and work with over the next
02:10two or three seasons to potentially get you to nine or ten wins or maybe win an absolute playoff game.
02:17And instead, they're just stuck in neutral.
02:19This organization's going nowhere.
02:21Do you have any hopes that Mike McCarthy is going to be able to elevate this organization to an elite
02:29level?
02:30Not a good level, because that's what Mike Tomlin did.
02:33He got them to nine or ten wins and playoff availability and playoff appearances.
02:38But he certainly didn't challenge for a championship.
02:41And I don't feel at all that Mike McCarthy is the answer in Pittsburgh.
02:46I think that McCarthy hire really confirmed that it was Mike Tomlin who stepped away and it wasn't a handshake,
02:57save face, secret firing.
03:00Because Mike McCarthy is an attempt to replace Mike Tomlin, where you are seeking a high floor.
03:09And McCarthy has had high floors in Dallas, in Green Bay, obviously.
03:15And that's been the whole game with Mike Tomlin.
03:21But I don't think it necessarily is the best thing for this organization.
03:27But what's crazy is if you are going to bring back Mike McCarthy or you're going to bring in Mike
03:32McCarthy, Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, then sure.
03:37I mean, you're not trying to build from the ground up by bringing in McCarthy.
03:42So you might as well bring back Rodgers instead of drafting a guy or giving the ball to Will Howard.
03:50And I don't know why it bothers me, but it kind of does that Rodgers has not signed the deal.
03:57Well, because the thing is, like, and I know there are reports, like, oh, they're just trying to figure out
04:03the money of it all.
04:05But Rodgers did this last year.
04:06I mean, Joe, when did Rodgers decide he was going to be a stealer last year?
04:10Like three weeks before camp opened, I feel like.
04:13Right?
04:13I mean, it was late.
04:15It was late, late June, July almost.
04:19And it's silly.
04:20And that's why, to me, he gets no leeway here.
04:23And it just feels like we're playing games.
04:26Look at me.
04:26Look at me.
04:29And I just don't think it's a good way to build a foundation.
04:31And I just don't think it's a good way to build a foundation.
