Transcript
00:10Russian oil tanker Anatoly Kolodkin arrived in Cuba on Monday, breaking the U.S. blockade where it remains waiting to
00:17be unloaded at the port of Matanzas.
00:23And the U.S. government is writing to bomb Iranian in the U.S. cities that have not yet been
00:27attacked if they fail to reach an agreement.
00:29This is in retaliation for the death of U.S. soldiers and attacks on U.S. targets in the region.
00:38And the Israeli regime is pushing a bill that would allow the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners as part of
00:43its genosidal actions against the Palestinian people despite the ceasefire agreement.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Telesub Studios in Caracas, Venezuela. We begin with the
00:58news.
01:11The Russian oil tanker Anatoly Kolodkin arrived in Cuba on Monday, where it remains waiting to be unloaded at the
01:17port of Matanzas, according to the Russian Ministry of Transport.
01:20The vessel is carrying approximately 100,000 tons of oil, classified as Soy Dite Aid, amid a severe energy crisis
01:27affecting the Caribbean island.
01:28The cargo set sail to the island on March 9th under this Russian flag and without a military escort.
01:34In addition, the tanker was initially accompanied by a Russian Navy warship through the English Channel.
01:39However, after entering the Atlantic, the ship continued its journey on its own until its arrival in Cuba.
01:44This operation represents, according to reports, the first arrival of a tanker on the island in three months.
01:50The move comes after the United States pressured Venezuela and Mexico to hold energy supplies to Cuba.
01:55As a result, the island has not received oil since January 9th, which has led to sustained deterioration of the
02:00energy system and hardships for the population,
02:02which depends on fuel for essential services and the functioning of the economy.
02:13And Russia reacted after the arrival of its oil tanker, the Anatoly Kolodkin, in Cuba was confirmed.
02:19The spokesperson for the presidential office stated that helping Cuba is a duty.
02:23Spokesperson for President Vanipurden, Dmitry Peskov, welcomed the shipment and denounced the severe blockade Cuba is under.
02:30Peskov emphasized that Moscow must act to help the Cuban economy, which has been pressured by Washington since last January.
02:36The Russian government confirmed that it is already considering new shipments to guarantee the stability of its strategic ally,
02:41reaffirming that it will not allow destabilization efforts that undermine the development and well-being of the Cuban people.
02:56Under the conditions of the most brutal blockade, our Cuban friends are in need of petroleum products and oil.
03:05These are essentials for maintaining the country's life support systems, for generating electricity and for providing medical and other services
03:16to the population.
03:19Of course, Russia considers it its duty not to stand idly by and to provide the necessary assistance to our
03:26Cuban friends.
03:27We are pleased that this consignment of petroleum products will arrive on the island. Or rather, it has already arrived.
03:37And in this sense, US President Donald Trump expressed in an interview that Cuba will be next and that he
03:43is not concerned that the island receives Russian oil as it needs it to survive.
03:53We have a tanker out there. We don't mind having somebody get a boatload because they need to survive. Cuba
04:00is going to be next. Cuba is going to be. Cuba is a mess. It's a failing country. And they're
04:06going to be next. Within a short period of time, it's going to fail. And we will be there to
04:11help it out. We'll be there to help our great Cuban Americans out.
04:17And the Cuban government is advancing the debate on a draft housing law aiming to modernize the legal framework in
04:23effect since 1988.
04:25This effort responds to the urgent need to address demographic shifts experienced by the country exacerbated by the imperial blockade
04:32over recent decades. The proposal currently under consultation suggests structural reforms aim at diversifying construction actors, flexibilizing the property regime
04:40and eliminating administrative barriers that limit housing management.
04:43According to authorities from the Ministry of construction, the initiative also recognizes the rights of Cubans residing abroad and promotes
04:50a more comprehensive approach that coordinates housing production, management and sustainability. The draft bill seeks to balance economic efficiency and
04:59social equity, strengthen social housing programs and adapt public policy to the country's territorial and demographic reality.
05:14And Brazil's Landless Rural Workers Movement, or MST, took time out from its national meeting to show society for its
05:20historic ally, Cuba, a correspondent by Amir Hasmoor.
05:30The political organization, the over 1,000 members from across the country took time out from the debates and meetings
05:37to plant trees in a symbolic event showing solidarity for Palestine and Cuba.
05:42Cuba needs our solidarity. The Cuban people may be the people who have shown the most solidarity in the history
05:50of humanity. At least that is what I see in the social and political literature.
05:57This nation has shown solidarity for the whole world with its doctors, its nurses and its engineers. And it also
06:04helped in the African liberation struggles when it defended countries like Angola and Zimbabwe.
06:09And now these people are humbly asking for our solidarity.
06:13The MST has had positive interactions with the revolutionary government of Cuba for over 40 years.
06:20Cuba has given hundreds of scholarships to medical school, to residents of MST agrarian reform settlements, and in 2006 the
06:28Castro administration helped it develop and roll out an adult literacy program.
06:33The MST has been an historic presence, helping us in Cuba now, when we really need this help from friends.
06:43The MST is helping Cuba by sending medicine, and the MST is helping Cuba in food production.
06:54The MST is helping us here in Brazil, and in Cuba, to strengthen bilateral relations between Cuba and Brazil, and
07:03Cuba and the MST.
07:06During a brutal hybrid war attack from the imperialist United States, the MST is working to show material solidarity with
07:13the people of Cuba, while reminding the world of its ongoing importance in the struggle against imperialism.
07:22The Cuban revolution inspires us to keep going, even with the United States sanctions, even with the blockade.
07:34They are still resisting at all costs, to maintain their sovereignty and their way of life.
07:40This is an example, not just for Brazil and the MST, but for people around the world.
07:47Internationalizemos esperanza!
07:49The MST's National Assembly will continue until March 30th.
07:53Brian Meir, Telesur, Recife.
07:58Residents in Caracas welcome Holy Week with the tradition of Palm Sunday Mass at Paseo Los Proceres in the capital.
08:05The Catholic community of Venezuela began Holy Week on Sunday with a solemn mass.
08:09In this regard, the ceremony led by priest Numa Molina was also attended by national government officials.
08:16This celebration marks the beginning of religious activities that will spread throughout the country until next Resurrection Sunday.
08:30And in this context, Venezuela's acting president, Dados Rodriguez, called on the nation to pray for peace and reconciliation.
08:40Today, on Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus entering Jerusalem before his crucifixion and resurrection.
08:50In this procession that Venezuela is experiencing today, in its reunion, among families, among Venezuelans, I ask that popular faith
09:02be the pillar of this process.
09:05And that we may ask Jesus for peace, for reunion, for reconciliation, for social justice, and for the most sacred
09:16things we have in our homeland, independence and freedom.
09:21Happy Palm Sunday to all Venezuelans.
09:27Let's now take our first break. We're going to be right back.
09:54Welcome back.
09:55The Iranian government insists that it does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons despite its intention to withdraw from the
10:00Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
10:02Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Bakay said that the Islamic parliament is currently debating the possibility of withdrawing from the
10:09treaty,
10:10as it considers what benefit it might bring to the nation by preventing it from exercising its rights.
10:15The spokesperson emphasized that Iran continues to comply with the provisions of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has not
10:23sought to acquire nuclear weapons.
10:25Prior to this, the Iranian National Security and Foreign Policy Commission indicated that it is reconsidering its participation in the
10:30treaty
10:31and that, in Iran's view, it is time to withdraw from the agreement.
10:42The U.S. government is threatening to bomb Iranian energy facilities that have not yet been attacked if they fail
10:47to reach an agreement.
10:48It is in retaliation for the death of U.S. soldiers and attacks on U.S. targets in the region.
10:52President Donald Trump stated on his Truth Social account that they would conclude their operation in Iran with attacks on
10:58power plants, oil wells, the island of Yark, and desalination plants if no agreement is reached with Iran.
11:05Furthermore, Trump asserted that they are currently negotiating with what he describes as a new and more reasonable regime in
11:11Iran to bring an end to U.S. military operations.
11:14Washington stressed that if Iran fails to open the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic, they will proceed with the
11:20new offensive.
11:27Also, President Trump openly admitted his intention to take possession of Iran's oil.
11:32In a recent interview, the U.S. President stated that it would be illogical for the United States not to
11:36take control of Iran's resources.
11:38This is not the first time Donald Trump has suggested direct control over foreign resources.
11:43The President's statements come after he has asserted on multiple occasions that his intention attacking Iran was to guarantee the
11:49security of the United States and to declare that he would achieve a fast military victory over the Islamic Republic.
12:06On Monday, the Israeli army responded to the arrival of 10,000 U.S. soldiers in the region stating that
12:12they expect a slight invasion attempt in order to punish the aggressors.
12:16With a series of videos on the military operations planned in the region, Iranian forces faced the second month of
12:22the war declared against the country by Israel and the United States.
12:25Despite the continuous fake news generated by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, regarding agreements and negotiations, Washington
12:31and Tel Aviv are escalating the war.
12:32In this regard, the Speaker of the Persian Parliament, Mohammad Bagheir Ghalibaf, assures that Washington is secretly planning a ground
12:38operation.
12:39However, Persian strategists warned that such invasion would not be a victory.
12:51And on Monday, Iranian authorities announced that power had been restored in Tehran and Al-Burz province following attack by
12:57Israel and the United States against the country's infrastructure.
12:59According to the Minister of Energy, Abbas Aliabi, the outage was caused by strikes on areas in the east of
13:07the capital and neighboring regions.
13:09Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister for the sector, Mustafa Rahabi Mastadi, indicated that the service was restored in most areas within
13:15a short time while the remaining areas would have power restored minutes later.
13:20Also, authorities noted that customer service channels remain active for the public to report any new outages.
13:31An Iranian armed forces and the Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah carried out a retaliatory joint operation against tragic targets in
13:38Israeli territory.
13:39The joint attack targeted several areas of the Sionist entity, including the Haifa area and its surroundings, where the impact
13:45of about five missiles was reported.
13:47The offensive caused structural damage to refineries and a building belonging to the military shipbuilding company Bazan.
13:53Other locations where the projectiles were detected include the Lower Galilee Tiberias and its surroundings, as well as Israeli targets
14:00located in the occupied territories of the Gaza Strip.
14:10And on Sunday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa became the first African head of state to describe the U.S.-Israeli
14:17attack on Iran as illegitimate.
14:18He made this statement at the African National Congress, where he called for an immediate ceasefire and warned that this
14:24conflict poses a serious threat to global stability that could lead to numerous humanitarian crises, not only in the region,
14:29but in various countries around the world.
14:31The President rejected the militaristic logic of the United States and expressed deep concern about the economic consequences the conflict
14:38could have on the Global South, especially due to rising oil prices, which will directly affect the peoples of the
14:44world.
14:53The military escalation in the Middle East initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran is having an impact
14:58on the global economy, and especially on that of the United States.
15:02In this regard, the U.S. stock market index, which includes the 500 largest and most representative companies, has fallen
15:07by 8.8%, and last Friday was its worst day on record.
15:11Treasury bonds are also being affected and are moving towards their worst month.
15:15Experts in the field warned that if the war prolongs, the price of barrel of oil could reach $200, a
15:22historic record that would have devastating consequences.
15:30We now have our second break. Stay with us.
15:57The Israeli regime is pushing a bill that would allow the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners as part of its
16:03genosidal actions against the Palestinian people despite the ceasefire agreement.
16:16In recent years, Israel has debated the possibility of imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners, an initiative launched by
16:31right-wing functions in 2018.
16:42And in Palestine, raids were reported in various areas of the occupied West Bank, where Israeli forces carried out arrests
16:49in different towns.
16:50According to local organizations, the actions included house raids and operations in cities and refugee camps, such as Jabad, southwest
16:57of Jenin, and others near Jericho.
16:58During this operation, several people were arrested.
17:01The West Bank is currently suffering from the attacks by the occupying forces, but it also faces criminal assaults by
17:07settlers without any authorities stopping them.
17:17Meanwhile, in Belgium, a court has reopened a lawsuit filed by several organizations against the state for its inaction in
17:22the face of the genocide and war crimes committed by Israel in Gaza.
17:26The ruling states that the International Court of Justice in The Hague demanded that Israel in January 2024 ensure that
17:32its army did not violate the genocide convention.
17:35Belgium took more than a year to convene an initial meeting to discuss the export of arms to Israel, having
17:40not adopted any binding measures when the case was brought to court.
17:44These organizations had specifically demanded that Belgium close its airspace to the transport of arms to Israel, as well as
17:50other significant actions.
17:51The trial, which begins in Brussels, is the first step in a process that could lead to the prosecution of
17:58all governments that are complicit in the extermination war in Gaza.
18:09Authorities in countries such as Italy, France, Spain, Brazil, and the United States have condemned the Israeli Prime Minister's decision
18:15to bar the highest-ranking Catholic official in Palestine, forcing the Premier to rethink the decision.
18:21On Monday, Netanyahu announced that the patriarch, Pierre-Baptiste Pisa Bella, would have immediate access to the Basilica, furthermore implicitly
18:29recognizing that it was a mistake.
18:31Even one of his direct accomplices, the United States Ambassador Mike Huckabee, admitted that the Israeli police had overstepped.
18:37The images of the violent reparation against religious figures went around the world, which for the first time in thousands
18:43of years witnessed the veto of Palm Sunday at the holy site.
18:46Although the Iraq proceeded with the ceremony, he did so from the outside and with a forceful message to the
18:52genocide.
19:01And the government of Cuba reaffirms its historical solidarity with the Palestinian people and expresses its support for the just
19:08cause of this nation, which has been illegally deprived of its land on the occasion of Palestinian Land Day.
19:14Through his telegram account, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said,
19:17On Palestinian Land Day, we reaffirm Cuba's historical solidarity with the just cause of a people who have been illegally,
19:24violently, and continuously dispossessed of their land by the genocide of government of Israel.
19:29End the philosophy of dispossession and the philosophy of war will end.
19:44Also, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Barrilla posted the following on his ex account.
19:49On Palestinian Land Day, we reiterate our condemnation of Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, where more
19:56than 72,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 170,000 have been injured.
20:01Israel, the occupying power continues to restrict the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip and the work of UNRWA
20:07and to usurp Palestinian territories.
20:10There is an urgent need for international recognition of an independent Palestinian state with borders preceding 1967 with its capital
20:17in East Jerusalem and guaranteeing the return of refugees.
20:28And China takes a disaster step at its humanoid robot training center in Beijing, preparing these technologies for use in
20:35real world scenarios.
20:36Our correspondent, Bruno Fossey, with the details.
20:41Greetings, comrades.
20:43From here, Beijing, China has just launched the third phase of its largest humanoid robot training center.
20:52The center is located in Shenzhen, a technological district in the west end of the capital of China,
20:59and function as a school where robots learn to operate in real world scenarios before deployment.
21:09In previous phases, 100 robotic arms and then 100 humanoid robots were deployed in industrial and domestic and also in
21:21service application,
21:22generating millions of data points each year, setting a benchmark global for the last experience.
21:31The new phase will enable robots to operate in industrial production, agriculture, hospitality, domestic cleaning and smart homes, as also
21:43as medical procedures.
21:45To support this training, an industrial alliance has been launched, bringing together more than 14 government organizations, companies, universities as
21:58also research centers,
22:00providing the necessary computing power and specialized talents.
22:05The goal is to connect technological and educational resources globally and overcome challenges such as information silos and supply chain
22:18vulnerability,
22:19and establish innovation standards for robotic and embodied artificial intelligence.
22:27With this expansion, China has reinforced its leadership in robotics and preparing robots to integrate the safety and efficiently into
22:39the daily life and the industry.
22:42With this news, from here, Beijing, we go back with you in the studios.
22:50In a massive landslide in the town of Silver Italy caused several buildings to collapse.

22:58Alarms sounded in the city of Silver Italy, where local authorities reported that the landslide remains active,
23:02training roads and other nearby infrastructure.
23:06Also, teams of geologists have been deployed to the area to analyze the subsoil and determine the extent of the
23:12risk.
23:13Meanwhile, preventive evacuations continue to guarantee the safety of the population.
23:26And the Mexican government maintains an emergency operation to rescue four workers trapped in the Santa Fe mine in Sinaloa,
23:32northwest of the country, following a collapse on March 25th.
23:35More than 300 members of the National Guard, the Army and Civil Protection, are participating in the operations,
23:41working tirelessly at a depth of 300 meters.
23:44To advance safely, the specialists reinforce the structure with cement and resin mixtures that prevent further collapses.
23:50They also have installed an alarm system to evacuate rescuers quickly.
23:53While the work continues, the authorities provide psychological support and food for the families of minors.
