00:00But I can't come with you.
00:04Well, then I'm staying.
00:05Ellie, we won't get another shot at this.
00:08Welcome to Mojo Plays, and today we are looking at the looks of people who look like other people look.
00:12Specifically, the look of their look.
00:14These are 10 video game characters with famous doppelgangers.
00:17Whether it was intentional or a complete accident, we're talking about it.
00:21Let's go.
00:21Before we continue, we publish content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to get
00:27notified of our latest videos.
00:30Tom Burke as Solid Snake Metal Gear Series
00:42We're starting off with this one, as it's not the most famous on our list, but it is one of
00:46the more recent,
00:47with fans requesting Tom Burke even play Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid movie.
00:51This comparison gained significant popularity after Tom Burke appeared in Furiosa, a Mad Max saga,
00:57and Hideo Kojima, the writer and creator behind Metal Gear, gave hints to his desire to see Tom Burke as
01:02Snake in the upcoming movie.
01:04Obviously, when it comes to casting Snake, Kojima rarely gets what he wants.
01:08He couldn't get Kurt Russell for MGS3, and he couldn't get Tom Burke for the MGS movie.
01:13Suck eggs, Kojima.
01:14Also, I love you.
01:22Cameron Diaz as Mary, Silent Hill 2.
01:28No, you're not.
01:31Do I look like your girlfriend?
01:33Silent Hill 2 dropped in 2001, three years after Cameron Diaz starred in There's Something About Mary,
01:39and a year after the pop culture explosion that was Charlie's Angels.
01:42In the late 90s and early 2000s, Cameron Diaz was more popular than John Lennon,
01:47which is why it makes sense that the funner, easygoing, and sexually adventurous alter ego to James Sunderland's Mary
01:53was possibly made to resemble her.
01:56It's not a direct rip, but the similarities between Maria and Cameron are undeniable.
02:01Ow.
02:02What's wrong?
02:03I just pricked myself.
02:04Are you okay?
02:06Yeah.
02:09Arnold Schwarzenegger as Bill Reiser, and Sylvester Stallone as Lance Bean, Contra.
02:17I like my lists to maximise their efficiency, so technically, these fellas could be different entries,
02:22but why not make the most of this list?
02:24Contra starred two protagonists, just to give Player Two a chance at stardom.
02:28And with it being the late 80s, there was a good chunk of action heroes to model characters off.
02:32But looking at the cover art, the modelling is a little egregious.
02:35It's almost too spot-on, making Bill Reiser look like an era-accurate Arnie,
02:40and modelling Lance Bean to a Rambo copy, complete with red bandana.
02:48Conan O'Brien as Gabriel Knight, Gabriel Knight, Sins of Our Father.
02:58Likeness is one thing, but when an artist spends time with an image,
03:01and it comes out looking exactly like their dad, you know they had a model in mind.
03:06Perhaps the visual artist for Gabriel Knight, Sins of Our Father, was a big late-night fan.
03:09This entry is an interesting one, because it's only really one particular illustration of Gabriel Knight
03:15that looks like Conan.
03:17The character model and some other moments don't reflect him as well,
03:19but this one is pretty wild.
03:21Look at this guy.
03:22It's just sexy Conan.
03:24Bruce Willis as Bruno Dellinger, Project X Zone.
03:34Bruno Dellinger leaves absolutely no room for doubt.
03:37This character is meant to be Bruce Willis.
03:40He's the spitting image of John McClane from Die Hard, and that's no coincidence.
03:43Bruno was originally in Sega's Dynamite Cop, the follow-up to Die Hard Arcade,
03:49and yes, he was intentionally modelled after McClane.
03:51It's odd for Bruce Willis to be at the front of action designers' minds in 2012,
03:55but we're all babies of the 90s, and Willis ain't never gonna die.
04:06Robert Pattinson as Gustave, Claire Obscure, Expedition 33.
04:17Here's our newest official entry, and boy howdy, is it a doozy.
04:21Claire Obscure Expedition 33 is a brand new and really dope game,
04:25and from the moment Gustave was introduced to the world,
04:28players have been assuming that this was Robert Pattinson doing the mocap,
04:31as the resemblance is really, really close.
04:33Put Gustave and Pattinson in the lighthouse side by side,
04:36and we have a mirror talking to itself.
04:39Is that the saying? Whatever. This guy looks like the guy. Shut up.
04:42You've still got a flower to give, no?
04:45Yes. Yes.
04:48Sam Elliott as Landon Ricketts, Red Dead Redemption.
04:51Oh, very good. Very good indeed, sir.
04:57What a great way to improve border relations.
05:00Often, a character's resemblance to a real-life person comes down to more than the look.
05:04Sometimes it's just the way a character carries themselves,
05:07and in the case of Landon Ricketts from Red Dead Redemption,
05:10it's this attitude that resembles Sam Elliott even more so than the look,
05:14though the look is pretty spot-on too.
05:15If a Red Dead Redemption movie ever comes into existence,
05:18can we put forward a recommendation for the legendary Gunslinger's casting?
05:22Who are you?
05:24Landon Ricketts.
05:29Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake, Uncharted series.
05:32Do the dishes.
05:33Stop, I'll do the...
05:34You did them last night.
05:35No, you cooked. I cleaned. It's fine.
05:38I mean, at least, at least, let me, let me try to earn it or something.
05:43Let me, um...
05:44Damn it.
05:44I shouldn't have used my example of a character's vibe being as comparable as the look in the last entry,
05:48because this is the peak example for this theory.
05:51You know, Nathan Fillion has a striking resemblance in look and personality with Nathan Drake
05:56when a fan-made film was released with that exact casting.
05:59Nathan Drake may not have been directly modelled off Nathan Fillion,
06:03but the whole character may not have even existed
06:05if Fillion hadn't popularised the snarky, handsome Gunslinger trope.
06:09Look, I'll fill you in on everything when I see you, okay?
06:13Yeah, I can't wait.
06:15Look, you two be safe down there.
06:18You know us.
06:19Hugh Laurie as Gordon Freeman, Half-Life.
06:32People may not remember a time before Hugh Laurie was compared to Gordon Freeman
06:35because it's become such a popular comparison today,
06:38but there were six long years after Half-Life was released
06:42before House skyrocketed Hugh Laurie to worldwide stardom.
06:45Now, his model wasn't really popularised until 2004, the same year House dropped,
06:50but it would probably be safe to say that Gordon Freeman's character model
06:53had been well and truly decided on well before this year.
06:56Unless Valve watched episode one of House and said,
06:58quick, change everything!
07:06Elliot Page as Ellie, The Last of Us.
07:12But I can't come with you.
07:16Well, then I'm staying.
07:17Ellie, we won't get another shot at this.
07:20It's honestly uncanny how much this character resembles actor Elliot Page.
07:25With Beyond Two Souls releasing in the same year,
07:28the resemblance actually caused even more confusion with gamers
07:31assuming this was Elliot Page's game.
07:33We're not alone in thinking this either.
07:35Elliot Page himself expressed frustration with Naughty Dog,
07:38accusing them of borrowing his likeness for Ellie.
07:41Even after Naughty Dog made design changes during development,
07:44it's still pretty damn close.
07:46And it's an attitude thing as well, you know?
07:48It's like Juno meets zombies.
07:51I can get patched up.
07:53But she's not crossing to that part of town.
07:56I want Joel to watch over her.
07:58Whoa, whoa, whoa.
07:59I don't think that's...
07:59Ellie!
