02:0215 years it took for the Gold Coast to get out
02:05we've been a club that has been stomped on
02:07forgotten but all of a sudden now
02:09the narrative's changed
02:10we are so proud of what you've achieved

02:15woo!
02:16what I dream about is grand final
02:18the final siren
02:19the last one's
02:20there at the end
02:23there's true belief that we can do that
02:37people get excited by the fairytale of Gold Coast run in the finals
02:40but from your experience
02:42what wins out fairytales or years of hard work
02:45people will say last year's run to the premiership was a fairytale for us at the Brisbane Lions
02:50and it probably was
02:52welcome to the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final
02:57so here come the Lions to win a grand final
03:02Rayner has gold
03:03he's boomeranged it around the boat
03:06what about this? Brisbane by 60
03:09and the Lions have caught lightning in a ball
03:16we've experienced last year what it is like to get to the top of the mountain
03:21this season we had a lot of doubters
03:23can we actually duplicate what we were able to do in 2024?
03:28that's our challenge
03:38did you just win at school today?
03:39it was a draw
03:41yeah what was the score?
03:43to all
03:44finals football is just different
03:46the intensity of every game
03:48lifts not only physically but absolutely mentally as well
03:51can I never put the buckle in?
03:54oh you get set up
03:55okay
03:56if you're not at your absolute best you're going to get beaten
03:58it's life or death from here on in
04:00your pads good or are they a bit loose?
04:02no they're good
04:02they're good righto
04:03get your bat
04:03so it's nice when you can just have little moments where you have some fun
04:07and get away from all of the expectations being in the outside world
04:10get ready for some tin music mate
04:11I hate tin music
04:13see if you can survive all these alright
04:16how competitive are you with your kids?
04:18winning against my kids
04:19here come the big guns
04:21fuck
04:22yeah that's on camera brother
04:26just try and survive
04:27I'll let him win occasionally
04:28what is that?
04:29out of 10
04:30come on knucklehead
04:31sorry
04:31once or twice
04:33I don't like losing
04:36couldn't hit water if you fell out of a boat
04:38right my turn to bat I reckon
04:39maybe I'm still old school but I don't really believe in participation battles
04:44ah damn it I want your dad to hit your head
04:47that's a good ball
04:47when it comes to my son
04:49I want him to be competitive as well
04:51certainly
04:51maybe
04:52not as competitive as what I potentially am
04:55eat
04:56my
04:57dust
04:57I really pride myself on
04:59win at all costs mentality
05:00and that competitiveness has definitely
05:02flipped over the line at times
05:04which
05:05I know that's selfish
05:06but
05:06I want to win as much as possible
05:08tempers just bubbling
05:11simmering
05:11and they are going for Zorko
05:14Dane Zorko
05:15I think he really feeds off that competitive part of our game
05:20he's not afraid to put himself out there
05:23deep down
05:23he's got a genuine
05:25hatred for the opposition
05:26it's really hard to control
05:31Zorko's always dabbled in the dark arts
05:33tried to get under the skin
05:35done whatever it takes
05:36Zorko and everyone wanting to have a crack there
05:39great kick here
05:40he reported for striking
05:41now on the forwarder for striking
05:43a heavy bump
05:44by Zorko
05:45no surprise that the Zork involved
05:47I want to win
05:48I don't like losing
05:50my own fan base probably doesn't like me at times
06:02he's a fucking dog
06:04I don't know
06:06I'm okay with it
06:07I don't mind being the villain
06:12I do some stuff that people might not like
06:14but I've been able to tick off some pretty wild achievements
06:17that 0.00001% of AFL players have ever done
06:22to be the oldest player to play 300 games this year
06:25at the age of 36
06:26and being a premiership player
06:29we're now in the position where we could go back to back
06:31and potentially win two premierships
06:35not many teams can do it
06:36and people talk about just how difficult it is to do
06:48I want to hear the mighty roar
06:49the mighty roar
06:53Rayna!
06:58going into qualifying final
07:00I think for me and a few of the other older boys this week
07:02it's definitely going to be getting around to our team mates
07:04and telling them
07:05look nothing's given in this game
07:06you've got to earn it
07:0810
07:089
07:098
07:107
07:112
07:13put everything you possibly can on the line
07:15to get the result for you to advance into the next weeks
07:18just waiting for Cam and that to finish
07:19and then we'll do it
07:20Cam!
07:22Cam!
07:23You're kicking the fucking balls away
07:25is what you're doing
07:25oh settle mate
07:27this fucking boy
07:28with the guy out over the front
07:29don't change it up
07:29I feel like with me is like what you see is what you get
07:32I'm proud of myself
07:33I'm being a really bubbly character
07:34I reckon I'm playing my best footies
07:35I'm out there
07:36I'm smiling
07:36I'm having fun
07:37that guy
07:39mucking around
07:40and not really taking things too serious
07:42I just feel like it's given me really clarity
07:44in the way that I want to play
07:45and my role for the team
07:47and it works out wonderful
07:49Rayna so dangerous
07:51Cam Rayna!
07:52Cam has the ability to turn a game on its head
07:55he always manages to pop up when his team needs him most
07:59Cam Rayna's got him
08:01Lions players erupt
08:03and he's able to step up to the pressure that was placed on his shoulders
08:06the 2017 pick one
08:09Brisbane Lions
08:10is selected
08:11Cameron Rayna
08:12and the Western Jets football club
08:13I think anybody who goes pick number one in an AFL draft
08:17has heightened pressure
08:19Cameron Rayna!
08:21You're expected to do remarkable things as a number one pick
08:24The man at the moment
08:25Rayna!
08:26Wow!
08:28An expectation like this
08:29that's challenging for a young player
08:31Rayna from 55
08:32Bang!
08:33But his trajectory could be headed towards superstardom
08:38As a kid
08:38I used to grow up and idolise these people that played AFL
08:41and used to think of them as like gods
08:42and would do anything to be able to speak to one or see one
08:45and get a photo with one
08:46and I'm happy to play that role
08:47and the joy I can bring the fans when I'm playing
08:50seeing the smile on their faces when I run out there is
08:52you know, it's pretty cool
08:57He just needs a point
08:58A goal would be too much
09:05Will they carry him the last five metres that he needs?
09:08Yeah, obviously the opportunity to go back to back is unbelievable
09:11Just really, really confident
09:13I'll be lying if I say I don't back us in
09:15that we can try and get there and do it again
09:17Guaranteed to win
09:21How you going?
09:22Good
09:23How you going guys?
09:24How you going?
09:24These young kids
09:26Yeah
09:26Wow, the confidence that they sort of possess is
09:29you know, something to look up to
09:31It's easy to sit here and say
09:33we're going to go back to back
09:36Anyone who knows football certainly understands
09:38one, how hard it is to win a premiership
09:40how hard it is to actually win two if you've done it
09:42Let's go for it mate
09:43Teams want to knock off the reigning champions
09:45so there's always a target on your back
09:47Playing finals football, it's even bigger
09:49We need to mentally be prepared for that every single time
09:52we come out onto the field
09:53Right, just shoot
09:55Bang
09:55Too good
09:57If you're not prepared, we're not going to be able to win
10:02There's a real energy and a buzz in the MCG tonight
10:06Two of the best teams we've seen in a long time
10:11Perfect night, massive crowd
10:15When you map out the road to a premiership
10:17of course you want to win the qualifying final
10:21This is arguably the most important game to win
10:23Because if you win, you go straight into a prelim final
10:27So you have a week off
10:28A win in that first qualifying final
10:31just really sets the tone for the weeks to come
10:34So they meet again in a big final, Geelong and Brisbane
10:39Geelong, they're an incredible team
10:40They're just playing finals
10:41He's got the run of the ball
10:43Picken after him
10:43He sprints away from Picken
10:45Lines up towards Bright
10:46They're playing grand finals
10:47They win grand finals
10:52They have different modes
10:53Their ability is to shut the game down in a few different ways
10:56It's just impeccable
10:57The Cats prove themselves as one of the greatest teams of the modern era
11:01I remember watching them win premierships as a kid
11:03and 14 prelims, the powerhouse of the AFL
11:06They are one of the greatest teams the game's ever seen
11:11Going out of the MCG
11:12It's a very high-pressure environment to be in
11:17There's 100,000 people in the crowd
11:19that adrenaline you get
11:20and the rush of blood you get
11:22From the first bounce
11:25they just made us look second-rate
11:27Zorko
11:27You can't defend that sort of turnover
11:30They have got Brisbane
11:31Hemming in here, Geelong
11:33Jesse Cameron
11:34And he slots it
11:36Came out and took it out of our hands right away
11:38So here we go into the second quarter
11:41Cats by two goals
11:43Cam Reiner who's had a quiet night
11:45So I had Mark O'Connor come and stand by my side
11:48pretty much everywhere I went for the whole game
11:49It was tough
11:50This was probably the first time I had someone actually play on me
11:52to that extent where
11:53every time I came off the ground
11:54he was coming off the ground
11:55and everywhere I went
11:56If I tried to go up high he'd come with me
11:58If I went deeper he came with me
11:59Early on I thought I was trying to get it done physical
12:02but he's obviously a big man as well
12:03It was challenging
12:06Players in opposition give you close checking
12:08You know they really respect you as a player
12:10and you're really influential in the game
12:13So I went to each and every one of the forwards throughout the week
12:15and I said they're going to throw some bait at you
12:17Do not take the bait, don't fall for it
12:19I went up to the umpire and said we're 150 metres away from the ball
12:23and I'm consistently getting punched in the back
12:25Watch what's going on behind the play
12:46I've hit the ground and the umpire's caught it down to the other end
12:48What's a final series without controversy?
12:51In the rule books it says if you touch someone in the back
12:53when you're 150 metres away they're going to pay for a kick
12:55so people are going to hate me for saying this
12:58but if the ball's nowhere in your area and you're going to lay a finger on me
13:01when you're not allowed to
13:03then I'm probably going to dive as well
13:05So Rayner a chance to insert himself in the contest
13:09Kicked the first goal and it got blindsided on by the other side
13:12and then they caught it back again
13:16Another one from Kurt is going on
13:19Walk away, walk away, walk away
13:27The second one
13:28These are scenes we rarely see
13:30Can was public enemy number one
13:32Geelong supporters in the ground and all around the country
13:35will be going absolutely ballistic
13:38The chaos reigns at the MCG
13:41Geelong supporters there, going off their head
13:44Beep, beep, beep
13:45Yeah, plenty of expletives
13:47Brisbane gifted two late goals, controversially
13:53Besides those two goals
13:54I hadn't really had much of an impact on the game
13:57We just couldn't get a grip on the game
13:59Their quality and their intensity
14:01It was a real warning shot to the rest of the competition
14:03that they mean business
14:07We were the hunted
14:10Smith, have a listen to this
14:14Smith
14:16There it is
14:18Bajon football club march
14:21Into their 14th prelim
14:24Big win to the Cats there
14:26Through to a home prelim
14:27Brisbane will go
14:27The long way home
14:29They'll face either Fremantle or Gold Coast
14:32In a sudden death semi-final next week
14:42They're long
14:43Hi, boss
14:44Hi, man
14:45Hi, man
14:47Good, boss
14:49Winnie against Frio
14:51Pretty historical moment
14:54Put a lot of belief
14:55Not only in the playing group
14:56But the whole of the AFL
14:57And what we're capable of
14:58Everywhere did I go
15:00Bobby, here you go
15:01I've never felt like
15:04I've never felt like
15:05That much elation in a game
15:06In my whole entire footy career in life
15:11These are a miracle for one of these two sides in the last seconds
15:18Swallow is kicked
15:20The most magnificent score
15:24It's a goal
15:27Siren sounds
15:28History made
15:3015 years it took for the Gold Coast to get here
15:33And they have won an almighty elimination final
15:38It was surprising and quite shocking to see this year
15:41Not only have they made their first final series
15:44They've also won their first final
15:46So this could be the year they take this club to a premiership
15:52We've been really poor for a long time
15:55And sometimes you can lose sight of why you play footy
15:59But that game
16:01This is what it's about
16:03We are the Suns of the Gold Coast Sky
16:06We are the ones in the red gold blue
16:09We are the ones in the red gold blue
16:10We are the ones in the red gold blue
16:10We are the ones in the gold gold suns
16:11We play the wind and I play for you
16:13Fight, fight, fight, fight till we hold up the cup
16:15Fight, fight, fight all the way
16:16Hey!
16:18We are the Suns of the Gold Coast Sky
16:20We are the champions in the red gold blue
16:24Buzzing mate, it was
16:28It's been a hell of a lot of hard work on the Gold Coast
16:3015 years in the making
16:32And a lot of the people are finally starting to see what it might become
16:34And, you know, we're really only scratching the surface, I think, of how good we can be
16:42It's so unbelievable that we have given ourselves a chance to play grand final
16:47This is the time for the Gold Coast Suns to rewrite the history books
16:51Ha ha!
16:53Woo!
16:54Yes sir!
17:01Now there's bigger fish to fight
17:06Brisbane had a huge clash at the Gabba
17:08Like, we couldn't script it any better
17:11And, we're not going to lose this game
17:15I always believed in the club
17:17Don't get me wrong, there were some times I questioned where we were at
17:20And what AFL football actually looked like for the Suns
17:25My name's Tuk Miller
17:27And, uh, all gas, no brakes
17:29I think that's probably how I'd describe my game
17:32This is one off and Tuk Miller
17:34Tuk Miller, he'd be right up there as one of the hardest workers in the game that I've ever seen
17:38It's flipped out, Miller
17:40Gold Coast, you're in front for the first time
17:43Widely praised for his two-way running
17:48Being able to be an offensive threat, but certainly a defensive threat as well
17:53Tuk Miller is such a driving force for the Gold Coast Suns
17:56But, he is also the most loyal person in the game
18:00I'm not going anywhere, I'm not believing what we're doing
18:03Stop it right here
18:08Yep
18:11Oh!
18:13He was drafted to the Gold Coast Suns
18:16Ahead of the 2011 season
18:19To a club that, over a long period of time, hasn't tasted much success
18:25They've been through a lot of hard yards
18:27I mean, 15 years in the competition
18:28They haven't been relevant for a lot of it, let's be honest
18:31For a long time, Gold Coast were the laughing stock, really
18:35I mean, they were a team that just got belted every week
18:37The Suns, just bitterly disappointing with the way they played
18:40Talking about big disappointments
18:42Gold Coast, the expectations were a lot higher than what they've been
18:46They've completely underperformed
18:50We had a lot of tough times
18:52We were never good enough
18:54Always had losing records
18:56Start well, finish poorly
18:59We were touted as a team that couldn't retain players
19:03Had poor culture, bad organisation
19:06One of the game's most sought-after free agents, Tom Lynch
19:09Has told the Gold Coast that he wants to join a Melbourne team
19:12And the club was pretty quick to react, stripping him with his co-captaincy
19:17Collingwood is set to make a major play
19:18To lure Gold Coast captain Stephen May to Melbourne
19:22The Suns could be on the verge of losing both of their captains
19:26They were the leaders of our club
19:28I'll never forget the pure anger
19:30It was really disappointing
19:31The blokes that are leading the club don't want to be there
19:38When they draft you, I've always thought there's an expectation that you give your all to them
19:44So you've got to do your best to make sure that they get to where they want to go
19:52I like to think a lot of people, when they think about me leading, it's my professionalism, how I train
19:59I love the responsibility of galvanising boys to achieve something
20:04Go on Turkey
20:07Then the opportunity came to become co-captain
20:12That was like a lifelong childhood dream
20:14Pretty special and definitely a massive highlight in my career
20:18Awesome job, okay?
20:19Once again, I'll say it all the time
20:21These sessions are all about intensity, okay?
20:23They're never going to be imperfect, these runs
20:25It's all about embracing imperfection
20:27All we needed to tick off was our intensity and our content
20:30We got both, okay?
20:32We understand the challenge ahead of us, but let's look forward to it
20:34What must we always bring?
20:36A fucking smile, okay?
20:41And I think that we've now got the coach and the game plan that brings it all together
20:47It's a really good day for the Gold Coast Suns Football Club
20:50It's with great pleasure that I announce Damien Hardwick as the senior coach
20:55In Damien, we have someone with an incredible track record
20:58But more importantly with the determination and the ambition to take this club on to its first success
21:04I'm very much looking forward to coaching young men and taking us to where we need to go
21:09And that's to raise our first Premiership Cup
21:12Which I'm pretty sure will be in the not too distant future
21:15Damien Hardwick arrived at the Gold Coast Suns as a three-time Premiership winning coach at the Richmond Footy Club
21:20Three flags in four years
21:22I mean, not only did Damien Hardwick coach Richmond to Premierships
21:26But he lifted that club out of the doldrums
21:28He would absolutely be listed as an icon
21:30This guy comes with not just a gravitas
21:34But a record of winning big finals consistently
21:38And taking teams to Premierships
21:40He sits very high standards and he expects them to be followed
21:44There is nobody better positioned to take this club to a Premiership
21:56You know, what I've learned over my tenure is the game is more than X's and O's
22:01It's connection, it's confidence, it's belief
22:03It's the ability for you to get the very best out of people to achieve the impossible
22:08A little bit of this week's inspo
22:10Anyone know who this logo represents?
22:13Kingy, you're a man of sporting knowledge
22:16Well done, Kingy, well done
22:18Dallas Cowboys, I'm going to take you back to the early 90s
22:23Dallas Cowboys are a special team, not only on the field, but also off the field
22:26And there's a reason that they won two Super Bowls
22:29I think Dimmer, he's a storyteller and he uses other sports
22:32And he tries to pull out things that are relevant in their team and their dynamics
22:36And kind of instil that in us
22:38The Dallas Cowboys, he pointed a coach by the name of Jimmy Johnson
22:41Now, he had in one of his first training camps
22:45And the young running back, um, had, started to have an asthma attack
22:50On the field, so he lied down, sort of thing
22:52Jimmy Johnson cut him on the spot
22:54I don't do asthma, was the exact comment
22:57He was a little bit of a hard, hard, hard stroke
22:59So, sorry, so times have changed a little bit, but uh
23:03Our guys have got to understand that there's no reason we can't win it all
23:06The only thing that's going to stop us, is us
23:09What they did do though, is they developed an identity piece
23:12The importance of that and what that looked like
23:14Very similar to us
23:16I probably tend to tell people what they can become
23:19And ask them to rise to that level
23:21The role of the underdog is very, very important
23:24It gives us an enormous opportunity to ply our craft
23:27But more importantly, to get the result we're after
23:29There's no better place to beat
23:31Our guys have got to understand that
23:32We are more than well and truly capable of beating any side out there
23:35The two things we've worked on, the grit and connection
23:38They're the difference makers of this organisation
23:40This side is built for fucking finals, understand that
23:43The challenge is, we've just got to get out of our own way
23:46And we've got to give ourselves permission to win
23:48Let's make sure we embrace the role of the underdog
23:51More importantly, I can't wait to see you guys
23:53Rip a fucking very good opponent apart
23:56Let's get it done, let's go
24:05Do you want to play a game, you know?
24:06Only bit, what if I beat you?
24:09That's not gonna happen
24:09So what can you put on what?
24:11Twos on twos, fours on fours
24:13And you can put colours on colours?
24:15Yeah
24:15And what about that?
24:17No
24:20And so what about, eh?
24:22Red
24:23Um, that last week, it's a lot to hear
24:27I don't know, maybe 80,000 people boo you some
24:30One of the biggest talking points was the controversy on Cameron Rayner
24:34Was it staging?
24:35Absolutely, yeah
24:35This was disgraceful
24:37Every sports story in Australia or newspaper or radio was talking about it
24:42But then the posts and Instagram messages were pretty disgusting
24:46Cam Rayner was trying to get to the Brisbane Olympics for the diving team
24:49Should be playing soccer instead of football
24:50Rayner, mate, you're a flog
24:52F*** you Cam Rayner!
24:55You know, as a mum that breaks your heart
24:56That someone, you know, could say something about you
25:00And we know that it's not true
25:01Our only concern is that you're doing okay
25:05After the Geelong game
25:06The media's always gonna talk
25:07They're always gonna try and make up stories
25:08And blow things out of the water
25:11The media, it used to frustrate me a little bit when I was younger
25:13It can consume you a little bit
25:15And you start believing what people are saying from the outside
25:17And then you start doubting yourself
25:19The thing that I worry about the most is what the people think about me at the footy club
25:22And inside the four walls
25:23And if I'm doing everything that they ask for me
25:25Then, you know, that's really all that matters for me
25:29I've got another game coming up
25:30The main thing is to try and keep my mindset really, really steady and really even
25:34If the intensity in the finals is unbelievable
25:36And the mindset's the most important thing
25:48Oh yeah, I'm excited for the team
25:51Coming from where you were, to where it is now
25:55It's just, I am just so proud of you
25:58Well I'm climbing up the ladder
26:03Of course, cheers to my son
26:05toke, there he is, toke, there he is, you know.
26:09You know, the one thing that puzzles me is,
26:10how come you don't have cheerleaders?
26:12You know, a couple of cheerleaders, yay, better than this.
26:15I just think they should have added him.
26:19My dad's, yeah, he's a unique character.
26:22He's a proud son, supporter, and if you're within shouting distance,
26:27you'll hear him.
26:28Well, you always talk about the belief.
26:29I know you send me messages all the time about you just got to believe in him.
26:32Dimmer, he believes in us.
26:34I think that's how much belief we need as a team.
26:38He's been there three times.
26:40He's gotten the cup.
26:41He knows.
26:42So he knows what it takes to do it.
26:43I'm blessed that he came to our football club
26:45because he definitely put us in the right direction.
26:48It was a moment that was probably bittersweet, I think, for myself.
26:51He knows what he wants, he knows what he's chasing,
26:53and he knows what it looks like,
26:54so I think the hardest thing was adapting
26:55and where I was going to fit into that.
26:58When Dimmer first started, I'm sitting there going,
27:00you know, this is my time, I can take on solo captaincy,
27:03and I think I'm ready to do that.
27:06And then last year, I sat in Dimmer's office with Wayne,
27:10and they told me that they were going to go in a different direction with Noah.
27:13He's a solo captain.
27:16That was a hard...
27:18That was a hard deal to swallow.
27:20It definitely hurt.
27:22Yeah, it was brutal.
27:24It was, like, pretty empty, like, empty feeling.
27:27I was really with you in that pain.
27:30I'm not going to lie, it was hard.
27:32I was disappointed, and I was like, there's just no way.
27:35Like, I thought I'd be dedicated to the Suns for so long
27:38and being humble, being loyal.
27:41But, yeah, I mean, it wasn't meant to be.
27:43I had to make sure I got my head around how to execute, like,
27:46my role for him and the team as best as I could.
27:50But I think that's the beauty of playing in a team
27:52is that you're doing anything for the team,
27:53and, like, we're starting to see results.
27:56So, like, when you start seeing results and what you do makes it...
27:59It makes it a hell of a lot easier, so...
28:04It took a little bit of time to process,
28:06but I think whether I'm the captain or not the captain,
28:08I know that I'm an asset for this club
28:10and help us win games of footy,
28:12and we're in this position that we've never been in before.
28:15To be versing Brisbane this week in a semi-final
28:18with an opportunity to, you know, send them home,
28:21yeah, I think that we're ready to deliver on that.
28:23It's time for the table to turn, and you guys are ready.
28:27Yeah, absolutely.
28:40I think I've played about 28 times in the Q Clash now.
28:44So, given the circumstances where both teams are at at the moment,
28:46it's the biggest Q Clash ever.
28:50A Q Clash is the game between the Gold Coast Suns
28:53and the Brisbane Lions,
28:53and it's the rivalry that will get stronger and stronger
28:56every single year.
28:57It's always been a tough contest in the past,
28:59but these teams have genuinely something on the line.
29:03So that adds a little bit more to it as well.
29:06They're a team that's on the improve,
29:08and we're a team that's obviously, you know,
29:10we want to go back-to-back.
29:11Tempest flare on the field,
29:12and then there was a rivalry between me and two,
29:14and that was obviously spicy.
29:20There are two teams based in Queensland,
29:22the Brisbane Lions and the Gold Coast Suns.
29:24They've been our nemesis for a little bit, Brisbane.
29:26I don't think they enjoyed the Gold Coast Suns starting up.
29:30They would have preferred to have owned Queensland themselves.
29:32The Queensland rivalry in full flight as we head to the break.
29:36Oh, jeez, it is on there.
29:40Eat my dust!
29:42There's hatred in this rivalry,
29:44and most of the time it's been the Brisbane Lions
29:47as the big brother pulling the Gold Coast Suns.
29:51And it's spilling over in Q Clash 16.
29:54Miller, Zorko, they've got some history.
29:57Every time we talk Q Clash,
29:59you probably talk about Miller and Zorko.
30:03Yeah, we've got into each other
30:04and created a headline or two.
30:08I think when things get interesting
30:09is when we start to get on top
30:11or start to get in his head a little bit,
30:13that's when things get pretty fiery.
30:15Outstanding smother!
30:17Toot Miller, body on the line!
30:19That was always my tactic,
30:20is I knew we had a short fuse,
30:22so how quickly can I get under his skin?
30:24And a few times I did.
30:26They're just going at it every second of the game.
30:29There's no downtime.
30:31He obviously absolutely towed me up one game.
30:34I just didn't shake his hand after the game.
30:36In the heat of the moment,
30:37I was just so angry that he did such a good job on me.
30:41The man you kind of caught.
30:42The vision of that, it blew up
30:44and probably created this stir of hatred
30:48between Brisbane and Gold Coast
30:49and it turned into a few WWE matches and some wrestling.
30:54And it's just starting to sizzle.
30:56Didn't shake his hand the first time
30:58and then that sort of escalates
30:59and the next time he tags me
31:00and the same thing kind of happened,
31:02but they won.
31:03Dane Zorko wants a bit of revenge.
31:06Zorko made a pretty obvious point
31:09that he wanted to come shake my hand.
31:11I think I said he had bad breath one day
31:13when we were winning
31:14and then last year, I think he grabbed my nuts.
31:17He just thought you grabbed my nuts.
31:19Oh, there was an accusation.
31:21He tackled me and just didn't let go
31:23for a couple of seconds,
31:24which was uncomfortable.
31:25So that little battle continues.
31:32Gold Coast, they'd absolutely destroyed us.
31:36Six weeks earlier down on the Gold Coast
31:37like absolutely made us look rubbish.
31:47I don't have to motivate Zorks
31:53because this is the biggest Q clash
31:56there's ever been.
31:59I went into Bayes and said,
32:01I want the role on two.
32:02I can shut him down
32:03and then hopefully I can hurt him offensively.
32:05If I don't, well, at least I know
32:07I'm going to be diligent enough
32:08to get this role done.
32:10He goes, well, if you want that job,
32:11you can have it.
32:13And in all my interviews
32:14throughout the whole week,
32:15I was like, nah,
32:15we don't even play on each other anymore.
32:17But I knew I was playing on each other.
32:23This is the matchup
32:23we've been waiting for.
32:25You know what's fucked?
32:26All week, all the stuff I've done,
32:28I kept saying I won't play on him.
32:29And then I was like,
32:31probably the whole day I'll be on him.
32:33Well, we'll shake hands
32:34and see you later.
32:36One of the two.
32:42Q clash.
32:44Saturday night up in Brisbane.
32:50After a really big loss
32:51to Geelong in the qualifying final,
32:53we were the hunted
32:54and we weren't ready for that.
32:56For us, it's about flipping
32:58that script a little bit
32:59and no, no, no,
32:59we're going to go out there
33:00and we're going to hunt today.
33:02We can't lose.
33:03You lose, you're out.
33:06The pressure of coming off
33:07a game like Geelong
33:08made me want to get out there again
33:10because I guess once that pressure's on you,
33:12it's like you've got nowhere to go now.
33:13You can only try and push back through it.
33:17So being able to switch my mindset
33:18to going like,
33:19all right, now here's an opportunity
33:20for me to really take control of this game.
33:22This is the biggest game
33:24that football in Queensland has ever seen.
33:26This is what they dreamed of.
33:28They wanted big finals
33:30in Queensland
33:31between two clubs.
33:35Tick.
33:36Here we are.
33:39This has to be the biggest game
33:41ever played in the state
33:42of AFL 50.
33:44Q clash in a final
33:45at the Gabba.
33:47You know, we want to be
33:47the number one team in Queensland.
33:49You know, we just can't get knocked out
33:51against the Gold Coast.
33:52Like, we need to play our absolute best.
33:54The air thick with anticipation
33:56and a packed Gabba.
33:57Two teams that have a long history
34:00where they don't particularly like each other.
34:02Some of our best wins
34:03have come off losses this year.
34:05Every time this year
34:06we came, we had a really bad performance.
34:08The following week
34:09he's been able to really make amends.
34:11They're going to come right at it.
34:13How we fucking respond is up to us.
34:15Okay, we get to choose that.
34:17Secure the ball.
34:18Fucking put pressure on.
34:19We hunt them.
34:20They're worried about us.
34:21Let's go, let's go.
34:23I feel like we can knock them off.
34:24Maybe making a serious statement
34:26in the AFL world.
34:28We're ready to go.
34:30It's the second semi-final.
34:32Tooke Miller and Dane Zorko
34:33lining up.
34:34Keep an eye on those two.
34:35They're going to be feisty.
34:37Very first bounce.
34:38Standing side by side
34:40when he nudged me,
34:41I'm like,
34:42ah, fair enough, let's go.
34:45Ah!
34:45Ah!
34:45Ah!
34:46Ah!
34:46Ah!
34:46Ah!
34:47Ah!
34:48Ah!
34:48Ah!
34:51Ah!
34:55Ah!
35:00Ah!
35:01Ah!
35:03Ah!
35:04Ah!
35:05Ah!
35:06Ah!
35:07Ah!
35:07Ah!
35:08Ah!
35:08Ah!
35:09Ah!
35:10Ah!
35:10Ah!
35:10Ah!
35:11Ah!
35:11Ah!
35:11Ah!
35:12Ah!
35:12Ah!
35:12Ah!
35:20Ah!
