00:00I spent over a million dollars building a city in the middle of a field and Ryan

00:04here is about to give you a tour of the entire city. Oh not just one house? Yeah

00:09the entire place. We have multiple houses, we have pools, we have a yard, we have

00:12basketball court. I mean it's pretty intense.

00:19City. Yeah. Where do I start? Follow me.

00:24There's five million dollars again. Okay I'm coming. Coming Jimmy. What is this?

00:27This is the entire, this is the, this is your front door. Yeah that's the gate into

00:31the city with a field to play games on because you know this isn't just for

00:34living it's also for eliminating people and so we need lots of open space so we

00:38left this field here much like the sandpit you already saw. How many people have you

00:41eliminated so far? Ryan, Ryan, Ryan. I can't answer that. I signed a legally binding

00:48contract with yourself. I built this city for a giant you know reality show we're

00:53doing so obviously we have to have housing for hundreds of people which is

00:57why. This property has four houses because we have to house 100

01:01contestants 25 each. This as you can see it's blue for the males and we were

01:05going for a futuristic kind of Tron vibe. Do you see it? I can totally see it. Now

01:09the theme of season two is strong versus smart. Yes there's 50 men 50 women so

01:15this is for the 25 smart men, 25 smart women, 25 strong women, 25 strong men.

01:20Everything in here is meticulously designed for a reason. So first off you've

01:24got round-the-clock coverage in cameras. Got it. Are these infrared at night so

01:28they can watch people sleeping whatever they do at night? We see them sleep. Don't

01:31worry. I wasn't worried. Okay. Well we do. Okay. We designed this with a purpose and

01:36see these contestants are coming into this reality show not knowing each other.

01:40Some of them are shy. They don't want to talk to each other. So force them to

01:43sleep next to each other. When your face is 10 inches from someone else you got to

01:47get to know them. There's no way around it. So this really promotes like a

01:51community. It promotes friendship and it gets them talking because we need drama in

01:54the show. Now this season I think one thing that's really really cool is you

01:58also have a lot more like story the interactions between the characters like

02:02they're fighting. I think there's one that's a relationship. Wasn't there a

02:05baby born out of season one? Something like that. We obviously we went with less

02:11contestants so in season one this building right here would have housed 200

02:14people but now it's only 25 so cut the numbers down way more so you could get to

02:19know them better. Another thing you'll notice you guys can't tell but it's

02:21very cold in here. It's so great. Yeah in North Carolina out there it's hot so we

02:25make sure their rooms are AC cool so they ever get hot they can come hang out

02:28here. Insane. Let's keep going we're just getting started Ryan. I design houses for

02:33a living we sell them we sell entire buildings billion dollar skyscrapers.

02:36That's cute. I design cities for a living. So how do you even start? What do you

02:39start with? I got you. I got you. This is gonna blow your mind. Okay. So this season it's

02:43strong people versus smart people. Right. So what do smart people like? Books. That's why

02:48this is a library behind us. Oh. And on the other side of the city which we'll

02:53go to later a gym. Because strong people. So kind of a hangout space. Yeah hangout

03:00space some books. This is actual chocolate? No. Okay. If you eat it you'd probably die.

03:06Is this the grow house? Well I was trying to think again we're going for a

03:10futuristic sleek vibe. I didn't know what to put here. We tried like paintings of

03:14like Picasso and that kind of stuff but that felt kind of forced. So you went with

03:16like space station you know in every space movie they're growing. Exactly. I

03:21don't know if you guys feel it but this kind of gives off scientist vibes. You

03:23know smart people are scientists. Yeah don't stereotype them at all. They all do

03:27science. Yes. What's your favorite part about season two compared to season one?

03:33That we did not have as many contestants so we get to know them better and the

03:36sets and games like Amazon would sue me if I told you but my gosh the games we

03:40are playing are freaking insane but I can't talk about them until they drop.

03:43All right follow me over here. Okay come on. So wait so you built this city here in

03:47North Carolina it's for beast game city too but you also have a 40 million dollar

03:52soundstage the largest soundstage in North America. You're gonna show them that

03:56in a different video. Let's stick to the city for this one. Okay I just get excited.

03:59Check this out have you ever seen a TV this big in your life? I have not. I told

04:03them I wanted like the biggest TV possible. I actually have no idea how tall

04:07this is. I'm gonna guess super tall. Like what 40 feet or something? It's at least 65 feet. Okay 65

04:12feet. I guess I got a

04:1365 foot TV. I don't know. But this is the biggest TV in the world my team could

04:16secure and right now in between each game we put up a timer so the

04:20contestants can mentally prepare. So their next game's in 23 hours 13 minutes and

04:2427 seconds. So what are you gonna do when these games are over? Does this go into

04:27your house? I'm gonna be honest we're probably renting it. Okay let's keep

04:30going. So the city also has pools which are a little empty right now. I don't

04:35actually not sure why. Because it's a hundred degrees during the day. Did it evaporate?

04:40Oh really? Yes during the day. Oh maybe they refill the pools every day. I didn't

04:43even know that. At night though the lighting here is great. You can see this

04:47from space. Yeah it's great. You can also see it from a plane because there are

04:51there are flights into an airport over there. Yeah. And every day I just see

04:54photos on the internet. What is this thing they show in the field? Yeah it's so

04:57funny. Yeah planes see it before space but that's just the border. The city comes

05:01with multiple pools, hangout spots. You guys get the gist. We designed the city

05:06where the contestants could truthfully live in here forever and have a great

05:09experience. Are you gonna live here forever after this because you built it?

05:12Well right now I've set a precedent where I build a new city every season so I'm

05:16kind of screwed. So you're gonna tear this down? That's what I did in season one.

05:19Just bulldozed it? Well I asked the Canadian government if I could blow it up and

05:23they said no. So maybe North Carolina will let me blow it up. For sure. I mean that would

05:33putting in. It's 1 a.m. I know you're gonna ask. I can't tell you what's on the

05:38other side of that portal but that's a portal that does lead to somewhere. Okay.

05:42And then as you see we just have lots of chairs and places where they can hang

05:45out. It's I mean it's bigger than an NFL stadium. It's pretty insane. Dang. I never

05:50thought of it that way but yeah when you put it that way it is. In terms of like

05:52total square footage. Yeah. Like it really really feels bigger than most. Well we

05:57still got more to do. Let's go. Obviously because the strong team has some of the

06:01strongest people in the world. No joke. One of our contestants is five times

06:05strongest man in the world. We need a nice gym. So they got all the dumbbells

06:08they could ask for. A hot tub, ice baths, everything they could want. Waits over

06:12here. And then on the smart side you have like MIT graduates and you've found the

06:16smartest people from all over the world. One of the women on the smart team has

06:19the same IQ as Albert Einstein.

06:27You put the smartest people on the planet and the strongest people on the planet into a

06:30bunch of games that favor both mental acuity and strength. Who comes out the

06:35other end? And they can't leave the city. Well they can. They're just giving up five

06:39million dollars if they do. Got it. But you take their phones away. Yeah. They

06:42don't have phones. They've been in here now almost a month. 29 days. They haven't

06:46used their phone. They haven't talked to anyone in the outside world. They're just

06:48locked away in the city. That's insane. Yeah. I was talking to the engineer for a

06:52second. So you've got 471 acres. You employ basically 600 people here. You spent over a million

06:57dollars building it. You've got 20 generators that are powering all this. Because we are

07:01in the middle of a field in North Carolina. Here's some photos. Throw it up. This is what

07:05this field looked like a year ago. And now it's a giant self-sufficient city. I mean,

07:10it's crazy. Is that a basketball court? Yeah, let's check it out. So you have a

07:14regulation basketball court? Of course. Bro, these guys are living here. We want to keep

07:18them sane. Give them things to do. So you can't work out 10 hours a day to play basketball a

07:23couple hours a day. So there's tons of places to hang out, games. Is this part of one of the

07:27episodes and one of the challenges? And what is that? Ryan, if you keep asking these questions,

07:33I'm going to have to end the interview. It's a property. I can't spoil the show. But yes,

07:38that wall does fall down. Don't tell anyone. Now, let me tell you one of the problems we ran into

07:44in

07:44season one. We would always have cameramen in the background of shots because the city was very open.

07:49So we baked that into the design this year where part of the Tron aesthetic is these giant boxes

07:54rambling throughout the city that people can quickly hide inside. Oh, nice. So when we cut to

07:59a wide shot, I can go on the mic high. Everyone can run into these buildings. And now we have

08:03a

08:03beautiful wide shot with none of the cameramen. People have to eat. Yeah, obviously people have

08:06to eat. So we have around the clock meals here that contestants can come to and get whatever they want

08:10whenever they want, 24-7. Look, it's 1am. If the contestants were allowed to be in this video,

08:14they'd probably be walking in the background just grabbing meals.
