00:00Alright what's up Amayem and today I will show you how to make a bootable live USB or
00:04installer USB for Chrome OS Flex devices.
00:07First of all go to your Google Chrome browser or any browser with Chromium extensions and
00:12search for Chromebook Recovery Utility.
00:16And here you can see there is the first extension here, we need to open it up, this will give
00:22us the option to add to your browser which can be Google Chrome or in this case I am
00:27using Brave browser so add extension, this will add extension in my browser so I can
00:32make recovery media for Chromebook devices also I can make a Chrome OS Flex which is
00:37the same as a Chromebook but works on everything.
00:41So after the extension is installed simply open it up, fullscreen the extension, here you
00:46can see this is the recovery media for your Chromebook and also the Chrome OS Flex which
00:51can be, you can use Chrome OS on any device.
00:55Okay we are gonna go get started, here if you are using a Chromebook and want to reinstall
00:59the Chrome OS simply select for your model or select for you know, here.
01:05But we are using Chrome OS Flex so I can install it anywhere I want.
01:11So let's select like this Chrome OS and now we are gonna hit continue.
01:16So it's gonna ask me to insert a USB drive or SD card which will be at least 8GB so
01:22I am gonna
01:22insert my USB drive.
01:25This will delete everything on your USB drive so be careful with that.
01:30Okay now USB is connected as you can see right from here.
01:34So I am going to select my USB this which is about 8GB and here you can see everything will
01:41be deleted and the recovery media will be installed.
01:44So I am gonna select the stable version here because I do not want anything beta version
01:51so it should be stable.
01:54You should ignore the settings though this is the version of the Chrome OS so let's
01:59it create now.
02:00Now this will create a recovery image which can be used to boot from directly from USB so
02:06you can try your Chrome OS on any laptop you can find also you should meet some minimum
02:12requirements.
02:13Okay now it is downloading let's just wait for the downloading to complete and the live USB
02:20or the installer USB will be created.
02:37Okay.
02:38Okay.
02:55And then you can add a look at some of the jacks on it.
02:56All right.
02:56Okay.
02:56Okay.
02:56Stick.
02:56All right.
02:57Okay.
03:06All right.
03:42Well, I sped up the recovery media creation because it was taking too long, but it is almost
03:48over now.
03:49Now as you can see, your recovery media is ready.
03:52Now I can use my USB drive to boot Chrome OS directly from it.
03:58It is recommended that if you want to dual boot your Windows laptop or your Windows device
04:05with Chrome OS, you can also do that.
04:08First of all, we're gonna go and check out the Chrome OS flex requirements.
04:12As you can, it only requires 16 GB.
04:14I will give it about 25 GB.
04:17That will be enough.
04:19Also bootable USB drive and other things.
04:22These things are pretty much common and you can find it anywhere you want.
04:27Every laptop has it.
04:28I believe it.
04:30Okay.
04:31So if you want to dual boot your Windows PC or laptop with Chrome OS, simply just go to
04:37the disk management.
04:39I'm sorry.
04:39This is the device manager.
04:42We need to right click on the windows.
04:44Here we need to go to disk management.
04:46Here, I think I should create a partition of my disk that should be about 25 GB.
04:54Let's try making a partition.
04:55As you can see, this is the free space in my C drive.
04:59And also I've got some free space on my D drive.
05:02I think I should make 25 GB from the D drive.
05:05So let's shrink the volume.
05:08Now I cannot shrink it from here.
05:11Which means my data here is usable and I cannot move or create partitions from this partition
05:18because some data will be formatted or deleted.
05:22So I will not do it.
05:23So let's do it and let's see if my C drive lets me create a secondary partition where I
05:29can install my Chrome OS.
05:33Flex.
05:35Let's wait for the Windows to do its job.
05:45Okay.
05:45Now as you can see, I can create a partition about 35 GB.
05:50So now I'm gonna do it 35 GB.
05:52I'm going with 25,000.
05:55So it is more or less than 25 GB.
05:59Okay.
05:59After this, we need to turn off our Windows system and we need to boot from the USB drive.
06:05Here on my Lenovo laptop, there is an legacy key which lets me boot from, select the boot
06:10menu.
06:11Here we need to go, you can check it for your laptop or PC on Google.
06:17You can find it there.
06:20Search the internet and then you can find how to go into BIOS and boot from USB.
06:24Here I am booting from my USB and here you can see this is giving me the logo of Chrome
06:29OS Flex.
06:30Welcome to Chrome OS Flex.
06:30Which means it's working correctly.
06:33All we need to do is to wait for the setup to open up and then we will continue setting
06:39up and installing the Chrome OS Flex on our device.
06:43Well, I will not be installing the Chrome OS Flex on my device but I will show you how to
06:48use it as a live USB bootable system.
06:54Here you can see this is giving me the screen of Welcome to Chrome OS Flex.
06:58If you do not want to install Chrome OS Flex, you can also use Chrome OS Flex directly from
07:03USB drive.
07:04So, we should do that, here is this is the calendar and other settings if you need something.
07:12The flicker happens if your driver is outdated or something.
07:16Here you can see there is giving me two options to install Chrome OS Flex on my whole device
07:21or just try it first.
07:23If you wanna try it first, simply select try it first and this will directly boot from USB
07:29and will not install on your system.
07:32Which is great by the way if you wanna use it as, you know, a portable system something.
07:38You can use it for work, for a child or personal use.
07:41I am browsing it as a guest so I do not have to sign in or something.
07:46Simply just turn off the send and diagnostic and usage data and accept and continue.
07:52This will directly boot into the Chrome OS Flex from the USB drive, will not install anything
07:58on your system and your system and your system will be like it was before.
08:03So this is showing me I am browsing as a guest.
08:06Now Google Chrome is opened up.
08:10Here you can see in the settings, you can, this is the Google Chrome as you can see.
08:18Which means my Chrome OS Flex is working right.
08:21Simply just turn off Google Chrome and then you will see the system.
08:27Wait for it.
08:28Now as you can see it is directly working on from my USB drive and it's not using my system
08:34at all.
08:35It is not interfering with anything else.
08:37Here you can see there are two icons on my, this board or something, what do we call it?
08:45And I don't know, I don't remember.
08:47Files on Google Chrome.
08:49Here in this apps section you can see all the apps that are installed.
08:53Here is camera, settings, explore, gallery, Google Chrome.
08:57Let's explore some settings here.
09:00This is the network settings.
09:01You can turn on wifi or off it.
09:03You can use Ethernet or Bluetooth or some things like that.
09:09But well, I can already tell this is smoother than my Windows experience.
09:14Because it is very lightweight and doesn't come with a lot of bloat weight that Windows
09:18come.
09:20Well, there is a shame that you cannot install Mac OS on all devices.
09:25Else, use Google Chrome if you are a student or want to work only for, you know, for student
09:32stuff.
09:34School stuff, this is good for school stuff.
09:36If you have a very old laptop lying around, you can install Chrome OS Flex on it and then
09:42give it a new life.
09:44Here you can change some settings, change your wallpaper, change your themes, change your
09:51accent colors, however you like.
09:56Well, it does take a little bit of time to apply.
10:01Because it is running directly from my USB so it is kind of slow.
10:05But after you install it on your hard disk, please remember it will, it is everything
10:11on the hard disk and then it will work like a charm, giving you a new life and a peaceful
10:19life I hope.
10:21So this is a lightweight OS.
10:22You can also use Linux if you want to use it.
10:25Linux is pretty good.
10:27I really recommend using Linux Mint or you can use Ubuntu that comes in a lot of software.
10:36Anyway, that's been it.
10:37Thanks for watching.
10:38I will catch you in the next one.
10:39Take care.
10:39Goodbye.
10:41Well, not so fast.
10:42Let me show you how to turn it off first.
10:45And now you can see we are here.
10:47If you want to install Chrome OS Flex, simply select the install Chrome OS Flex.
10:52Now this will, it is everything so I will not gonna be trying and lose my data.
10:58Well, if you seriously want to use Chrome OS Flex, you can do it right here.
11:03Now we are over.
11:05Simply just turn this off.
11:07You can use it live or however you want.
11:11Anyway, that's been it.
11:11Thanks for watching.
11:12I will take you.
11:13I will see you in the next one.
11:14I mean, sorry.
