00:05science bomb. That's right Mark, today is our first ever triple wheel challenge.
00:11So basically you know those really fun boxes that come to your porch every month? Well all
00:16those are designed with the help of some really smart and talented product designers. So my name
00:21is Evan and I designed the propeller launcher toy. I'm Danielle and I'm the lead designer on
00:26the buzzer beater toy. Hi my name is Jack. I'm the lead designer on the disco dynamo toy. My name's
00:32Danny. I'm the lead designer on the extending grabber toy. Now it is impressive to see what
00:37they can do with those monthly build boxes but today we're really putting those skills to test
00:41because they've got to take this boring old crazy cart and turn it into something extraordinary.
00:46Let's see the teams. All right well we've got our two teams here out of curiosity which one
00:53is going to win. Definitely us. Yeah. I'm not going to trust. We're not. Taking the high road.
00:58Why don't we make them spin first because they're so confident. We have three wheels here. Let's seal
01:03your fate. What you're going to be designing with the wheel spin on three. One two three. Okay so it
01:09looks like for team trash chalk their theme is Mad Max, their build box physics concept is linkages,
01:15and their special item is fire extinguisher. All right team timid step up. Three two one.
01:22Your guys theme is F1 with projectile motion, personal favorite, and your special item is
01:30a rubber chicken. This could get interesting. Okay well the rules are simple. You got 24 hours to make
01:36this a thing. What are you guys doing? The clock's starting to go. Oh an early lead. Wow. It's just
01:46so satisfying.
01:47All right so Mad Max I'm thinking spiky, aggressive. Definitely. I think my team will win because we've
01:53got the intensity. Kind of thinking like fire extinguisher out the back just shooting clouds. Oh yeah. We
01:58got kind of lucky because a fire extinguisher is pretty cool on its own. This just wraps right back
02:02here. We need to test this. Oh my god. Wait was that dry ice it was forming? We probably don't
02:08want to spray our
02:09opponents with dry ice. You know we want to confuse the opponent and not cryogenically freeze them.
02:15Three two one.
02:19Whoa okay. Definitely stole out some dry ice but it was less. You're not injured. You're alive.
02:24I think we're going to be raining some snow down on the opposing team. I got to find something.
02:29Where are your legs going to go? Don't worry about it. We have skinny legs. Sure.
02:34We're incorporating projectile motion into our build and we have like catapult pull and release.
02:38Exactly. We've decided to build a big catapult arm so that we can just load whatever we want into it.
02:46We've been tasked with using rubber chickens. So we need to figure out the most annoying ways to use them.
03:04There's going to be stuff all over the floor. Maybe we could go get the third card and just
03:07drive it over stuff and see what stops it. I'm just going to make a little puddle of these guys.
03:11Yeah start with the foam. Well it looks like you guys are getting ready to test something. We are.
03:17I don't think it noticed them. I'd be curious to try the bouncy balls maybe. Bouncy balls.
03:20My teammate Evan is a bit of let's say an adrenaline junkie.
03:28I think the fact that you almost just crashed into the wall is a good sign.
03:32We have skid marks. Wow. Okay. Yeah I think we're I think we're on this. I think so.
03:38That shoots really well. Hey friendly fire. The time frame is pretty big. It's it's a lot to get
03:45done in a short amount of time. So we've got the gas pedal and then we've got the chicken pedal.
03:49Yes. The biggest goal with these chicken mechanisms is distraction. Jack is owning the catapult design.
03:56Maybe around 10-12 inches. I'm working on this little chicken launcher. So we're going to load up
04:01all these little finger chickens. So we have like 10 going at once.
04:04All right. A catapult. Very nice. Let's see what we got. Oh. Okay. All right. You hit the control
04:11out of the camera crew. Look at this. That's our mini chicken launcher. I actually haven't tested it yet.
04:17Oh yeah. That's pretty good. That was excellent.
04:21That was sick. Let's go. So the things we've got, the obvious one, the fire extinguisher, right? And then
04:27we're going to have the dumper that Dan's working on right now. It's going to dump obstacles out the back.
04:31I think it's time for a test. I think Mark would want the cars to be as chaotic as possible.
04:36The test
04:36right now is to see if pulling this lever is going to release all these bouncy balls.
04:41Oh, that's going to be so good. We can fill that with so much stuff.
04:46I think we're going to try to keep some things secret from the other team so that they don't
04:49know what to expect. Oh, that's a good idea.
04:54We realized we probably should have more rear-facing weaponry. It's on my head. Because they're going to be
05:00behind us. We're not nervous about the other team. No. I think that...
05:09I think they're scared. I think we should try it. Oh yeah. That's definitely tight.
05:25That was insane. We found these cans of silly string. So I've rigged it up in the back here.
05:30On the front, we've got our plow. So we don't have to worry about whatever they drop. I'm working on
05:36a
05:36little holder to hold these chickens. If you pull it. This is like our second reload. Just found this
05:43mesh to hopefully scoop anything out of the way. All right. Look at this. Not much time left.
05:49Are you going for any style points?
05:54We could always do more. Okay.
06:08This is basically done, right? Yeah. This body panel fits.
06:15Clock's ticking. You're still working? Oh yeah. I think they've actually made their cart worse.
06:21All right. Time's up. Stop.
06:27Okay. Starting over here with F1. What are we looking at?
06:30This is the Cockadoodle Zoom. It is an F1 themed race car with weaponry. We have the chicken finger
06:38flinger. Several silly string cans rigged up. In the back, scissors. Cut the string.
06:43Release the ping pong balls. All right. Well, that's going to be tough to beat. Team Mad Max,
06:48what's going on here? This is the bone crusher. We've got the ball bearing dropper. Come around
06:53the back, there is a dump truck. Unleashes a bunch of bouncy balls. We've got the smoke screen fire
06:57extinguisher. And then the Nerf gun. All right. Well, I suppose at this point, there's only one thing
07:04left to do. Ladies and gentlemen, start your engine. It had all come down to this. And as I prepared
07:11to
07:11kick off the first ever Crunch Labs triple spin challenge, Danielle and Evan prepared to race the first
07:16three laps of the six lap race. How soon? Until one got the lead. On your mark, get set, go!
07:25Immediately, it turns out. Oh, a bad start from Evan! And right away, Danielle took advantage of her lead.
07:31I raced upstairs to watch the race from a safe distance, while Danielle laid a shocking realization.
07:37I don't have my scissors! At which point, Evan
07:41took advantage of her oversight. But his surefire Nerf aim, got him no closer to the lead.
07:47Oh, no! Where'd my scissors go? Oh, what's going on here? There was a scissors handoff.
07:58There we go.
08:00Evan's shark tooth wedge successfully deflected the bouncy balls, as he then pulled the Nerf trigger in retaliation.
08:07Oh, wow! We're in the crossfire!
08:09His luck changed when Danielle spun out on her own bouncy balls on lap three.
08:15Yeah!
08:17Let's go! Let's go!
08:19Drop it! Drop it!
08:21Right here! Right here!
08:22Quick, quick, quick, quick! Let's go! Let's go! Let's go!
08:25The Mad Max gang had the lead as they switched drivers.
08:29Go, go, go, go!
08:30And as Danny pulled ahead,
08:31Go, go, go, go, go, go, go!
08:32Jack prepared everything he would need to catch up.
08:35Oh, that's quite the lead.
08:37Like the super chicken catapult.
08:41Never mind.
08:42But then Danny got cocky as he fired a smoke screen blast at Jack,
08:48which actually knocked himself off course,
08:51which meant Jack now had the lead.
08:53I need speed!
08:56But a little bit of nitro boost meant Mad Max was gaining as they entered the final lap.
09:02Nice driving, yeah!
09:04Just as he was about to pass Jack,
09:06we had a disastrous double spin out in the final turn.
09:13It was anybody's race now.
09:16I sprinted down to make the final call,
09:18as Team F1 took the lead again.
09:23Trying to cement their lead with some silly string to Danny's face.
09:28But Danny wasn't going down without a fight.
09:33The only question now, would it be enough to win?
09:41Oh, no!
09:43Oh, no!
09:45Nope, definitely not.
09:49Wow, congratulations!
09:51Team F1, prize-wise, uh, your next two paychecks goes to that team.
09:57What? Did I mention that at the beginning?
09:59No!
09:59No, sorry.
09:59The stakes were high.
