00:00I think we should mention Houston, Illinois, JY.
00:05And I don't think Houston losing was surprising.
00:09Illinois, I was on Illinois in that game.
00:12You know, one of the few sides I feel like I got right within the Sweet 16.
00:18But it doesn't mean it's not disappointing.
00:21Houston was in, I mean, they're in Houston.
00:25Houston, and with respect to the Hawkeyes, Cougs would have been pretty big favorites
00:30in that basketball game if they were able to get there playing a nine-seeded Iowa.
00:37And, man, you tell me if I'm being unfair, Coach.
00:42But I've seen it happen to Mark Few.
00:45Knock on the door.
00:46Knock on the door.
00:48All of a sudden, there's five-star freshmen on your campus.
00:53Really knock on that door.
00:55And then, you know, still really good.
00:59Gonzaga's a three-seed this year, right?
01:01Gonzaga's really good.
01:03But did anyone think Gonzaga was winning the national championship?
01:07You know, by the time we hit January?
01:09Not really.
01:11This Houston team, Coach, I adored.
01:14You know I adored them last year.
01:17I'm not even – I don't even know if it's a Kelvin thing.
01:21But it's hard – it's hard to break through, and I'm not sure Kelvin Sampson ever breaks through.
01:27And that's okay, but I know he's dying to.
01:31Yeah, it's interesting.
01:32I wrote an article last week that really talked about Kelvin Sampson.
01:36And, you know, I don't want him to be defined by winning a national championship.
01:42You know, because there's a lot of guys that haven't.
01:44You know, we're going to talk a little bit more about Rick Barnes.
01:47He hasn't even got to a Final Four.
01:48Mark Few hasn't won a national championship.
01:50You go back to guys like Louis Karnaseka, all-time great coaches.
01:55It's tough.
01:56I don't think people want to say, like, you've got to be your very best for six straight games.
02:00And a lot of things can go right.
02:02A lot of things can go wrong.
02:04The problem with Houston, time after time after time is, you know the phrase, like, defense wins championships?
02:11Well, you also got to make shots.
02:14And too many times, Kevin, year after year, they find a stretch of a game where they can't score.
02:23And I got – you know me, Kevin.
02:26I'm probably the biggest Houston backer on this network.
02:28I've taken Houston three straight years.
02:30I took them again this year.
02:31I thought – I may take them next year right now.
02:35But I thought that Kingston Fleming was – there was the guy.
02:41Like, there was your – there's your – ready?
02:43There is your five-star, top-ten NBA pick guard who can create a shot.
02:49And I thought that that was going to be enough.
02:52Well, it wasn't.
02:54They shot 23% from – 28% from three.
02:56You know, they – you know, we look at the rebounding battle.
03:00They lost 43-34.
03:01Houston never rebounded at the ferocity that we've known from Calvin Sampson's troops.
03:09You can look at guys that they've lost over the years.
03:11I think we've talked about it.
03:12But Jawan Roberts probably was one of the biggest team – guys – players that their team missed.
03:20Like, we'll talk about, you know, what went on in Alabama.
03:22But that guy created so much havoc in his rebounding, his shots around the rim,
03:30and just his toughness in leadership.
03:33It just felt that that, Kevin, was lacking the entire season.
03:38Great year.
03:40Don't define Calvin Sampson by that.
03:42But if I had one request for Calvin Sampson – and I know this sounds crazy because you're talking about
03:48it.
03:48This sounds like football.
03:49He's got to go get an offensive coordinator.
03:52He's got to go get someone that's got better – more aligned with the new way of a basketball,
03:56which is kind of weird with the way he plays defense.
03:59He needs something because, to me, Kevin, it looks too much like whether it's Marcus Sasser,
04:03Jamal Shed, Kingston Flemings, bail me out ball late in the shot clock,
04:07and he can't get it done.
04:09I have something that might help him, but it's probably not going to happen.
04:16Remember when Kingston Flemings had a really good, you know, January, February?
04:22We were like, it's not a big three.
04:24It's a big four, big five.
04:28Yeah, I'm not sure Kingston Flemings shouldn't just go back to school.
04:32I'm not sure.
04:34He's not going in front of Darius Acuff, I'll tell you that much.
04:36That's not happening.
04:37Okay?
04:39And Kingston Flemings can shoot the basketball.
04:46Kingston Flemings needs to learn what year it is.
04:50No one is drafting a sub-200-pound 6'4 point guard who refuses to shoot threes.
04:56Unless you're a super defender, Kingston can guard relative to his size.
05:03That's not the sell-on Kingston.
05:07I'm just, and for those that don't know, next year's class is supposed to be weak.
05:13So you might think, oh, Flemings is going to cost himself.
05:16Is he?
05:16I'm sure Houston will pay him an outrageous amount of money, and Flemings will go top five
05:21in next year's draft.
05:22Just something I'm keeping my eye on.
05:25Sinox definitely leaving.
05:26I'm sure you're going to do it.
05:26I'm sure you're going to do it.
