00:43have you guys tuned in back home tonight and it's been so much fun to see Cooper flag this year
00:47we know that and of course recently we saw it again in Denver on Wednesday just another one of those
00:53do it all games Devin he's been checking so many boxes of versatility
00:58as of late yeah it's got a lot of help from his teammates to the Mavs are playing at a
01:02faster pace they're shooting a three ball a lot better which is really opening up the floor for him to
01:06do things that he does well obviously I think the most important thing is his willingness to shoot the jump
01:12shot to keep defenses honest that allows him to drive the ball with a little bit less resistance but his
01:18aggressiveness has been there from the start his ability to get his teammates involved and defensively he's been active getting
01:23in transition is where he's at his best
01:25but he'll continue to do that against a scrappy Portland team when you look at the numbers this year and
01:31this includes what he did on Wednesday against Denver Coop now has 10 games of at least 25 points five
01:38rebounds and five assists that is more than the rest of this year's rookie class combined just another feather in
01:47the cap for what an incredible rookie season Cooper flag is having at 19 years old
01:52Portland Trailblazers having a great season they've got a chance to be back in the playoffs for the first time
01:57since 2021 now there's a lot of reasons behind that but reason number one is another very versatile player I
02:04think quite underrated as a matter of fact Denny Obdia he's having a phenomenal year you know first time all
02:08-star he's really leading the charge with this young Portland team and he does a lot of things well he
02:13shoots the three ball extremely well they put him in a lot of pick and rolls he can get to
02:17the paint
02:17but I think the best part of his game is his ability to get to the free throw line draws
02:21a lot of fouls now listen both these teams have played in a lot of clutch games expected to have
02:26the ball in Obdia's hands late in the game and he's had some phenomenal games against Dallas yes 28 points
02:31per game against the Mavs in two contests this year also seven and a half boards and nine assists per
02:36game tonight the Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trailblazers meet PJ Washington Mr. Stand It On Business he did it Wednesday
02:44he's been doing it a lot lately so we'll look at his numbers for the
02:47back half of the back half of the month of March right after this on Mavs TV stay tuned

03:09now fully healthy PJ Washington Jr. is back to the consistent player we've come to recognize
03:16he's so valuable a two-way powerhouse PJ runs the floor and scores runs the floor and blocks runs the
03:24floor and assists he stands on business every night
03:34PJ Washington of the Dallas Mavericks are in Portland at Moda Center to play the Trailblazers as we head towards
03:40the tip-off of tonight's game is 19 points and 15 rebounds against Denver on Wednesday
03:45the latest in a string of really good games for PJ Devin yeah definitely solid performance against Denver but
03:51Jay Kidd talked about you know last eight nine games health being a big part of what he's worried about
03:55PJ being one of those guys that have picked it up since being healthy production wise getting back to playing
04:00the way he was at the beginning of the year his big nights offensively come usually inside and out even
04:06see him play some small ball five which opens up the floor a little bit defensively going to have his
04:10hands full tonight guarding
04:11and here's tonight's Paycom player insight since mid-march six games for PJ Washington he's averaging 18 points having better
04:21than 20 point plateau three times shooting 51 percent from the floor better than 50 percent 50 percent or better
04:27on all six games 39 percent on threes and eight and a half rebounds with a couple of double doubles
04:33including that 15 board outburst in Denver on Wednesday

05:06and it gives way now to what still for my money is one of the best atmospheres in the NBA

05:14here's the home zone furniture starting lineups Marshall Christie Powell PJ and Coop that's who started in Denver on Wednesday
05:21and the Trailblazers go with Denny Obdia two-time champ Drew Holiday
05:25Donovan Klingin in the middle at center and Jeremy Grant and Jumani Kamara as the forwards Mark Folliwell Devin Harris
05:32and our courtside reporter is Leslie McCaslin with more right now hi Leslie hi
05:36Well as you guys know the Mavs are coming off three very close games two that went into overtime and
05:41in all three of those games they scored at least 130 points and didn't win one that's the first time
05:46that's ever happened in the NBA so while the offense has been clicking they need more from their defense Jason
05:53Kidd said it's just been okay so tonight against the Portland team who was in the hunt the Mavs are
05:58needing a couple of things they need to guard the three-point line better and protect the paint and guys
06:03they'll have to do that without Daniel Gafford as Jason Kidd said
06:06they'll have to do it with all other five that'll be on the floor and there is you know we
06:11are on the ring of fire the Pacific Rim so there's a lot of active volcanoes but that's not why
06:16the picture looks why it does right now there's just a lot of smoke from the starting lineup pyrotechnics that
06:23are still
06:24it's still hanging here in the Moda Center so that's going to have to clear out before we get this
06:29game going which we will hear very shortly does it
06:31well probably not they're not going to hold tip I mean if we're being honest they're not going to do
06:36that
06:37but looking forward to seeing how Cooper Flagg and the Mavericks look tonight against the Portland Trailblazers
06:43a team that Dallas has played twice this year both of the games have been very good the Mavericks won
06:47in overtime at home in November
06:49and had a chance to force overtime ended up losing by three here in Portland on December the 29th
06:57it's going to be a nice matchup I'm looking at the just a jump ball cleaning presents a lot of
07:03problems
07:03with his size and obviously making some threes as well so should be interesting to see how this game
07:07kind of plays out Donovan Klingon is the league's best offensive rebounder statistically this year so
07:13we'll see how his mountainous presence impacts the game tonight Dallas did control the opening tip

08:02two guys kind of locked eyes and Dwight made a really nice bounce pass to Cooper
08:07first basket for Cooper coming on twenty-six points on Wednesday in Denver
08:13on the bounce here's holiday passes behind Klingon
08:17he comes away with the defense collapses Klingon loses his balance and lost the ball
08:22cooped down to the floor to secure it and it's ultimately deflected out of bounds by the trailblazers
08:29first to the floor usually gets the reward but
08:32I've heard you say that before yeah I mean coach Ryan in college you tell me that all the time
08:37it's proven to be true quite frequently
08:41and in that case Dallas on the floor able to force Portland to tip the ball out of bounds
08:48handoff Powell to flag those two linked up for Dallas's first basket of the game
08:53and now Powell operating again in the high post low block Christie back to Powell rolling finishing

09:02sometimes when guys want to keep you on the side just a simple pitch to be able to negate that

09:25the foul was called on Max Christie so that's Dallas's first foul tonight and it puts Jeremy Grant on the

09:34Grant's had a down year last year averaging 14 points a game
09:38but he's back to 18 and a half per contest this year so he's bidding for the fifth time in
09:44the last six seasons to average 18 plus per contest

09:50surrounded the team with some veterans I think that dissonant drew holiday really because kind of helped
09:55him out as well talking about one of the best role players in the nba drew holiday no doubt about

36:47To establish himself as an NBA rotation guy
36:49He's worked his way
36:50But he's here now and established himself

37:36With the way Dallas is playing and attacking on the offensive end of the floor in this game

37:44Offensively, we've seen it the last five years this game
37:46They're scoring at an insane rate
37:48But haven't been successful
37:50Because they haven't been able to stop anybody consistently defensively

38:49And Coop tied with Luka for the second longest streak
38:53And our pal Dennis Smith Jr. is on the list with a double figure streak
