01:01But three sailors remained missing, believed trapped inside the burning vessel.
01:07And then came a shocking admission.
01:09Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the IRGC, claimed responsibility.
01:16They said the ship had ignored repeated warnings and attempted to pass through the Strait illegally.
01:24Now the situation has worsened.
01:26The damaged ship has drifted and run aground near Iran's Keshe Island, with rescue operations still ongoing.
01:34This is not an isolated incident.
01:37More than 20 attacks on commercial ships have been reported in the region in recent weeks,
01:43and Iran is now effectively running a de facto blockade.
01:48Ships are being warned, forced to turn back, and in some cases, even required to seek Iranian permission to pass.
01:57At least three vessels recently were turned away for not complying.
02:01Iran insists the Strait is open, but only for what it calls non-hostile ships.
