House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries has urged Republicans to move forward with a DHS funding bill without including provisions tied to ICE, as the government shutdown stretches into its 40th day. Declaring “enough is enough,” Jeffries called for immediate action to reopen the government and end the stalemate. The prolonged shutdown continues to impact federal workers and essential services, intensifying pressure on lawmakers. With no resolution in sight, political tensions in Washington remain high.

00:00Enough is enough. Republicans can simply bring a bill to the floor to reopen every other
00:06aspect of the Department of Homeland Security, pay ICE agents, support FEMA, stand up for
00:12the Coast Guard, and make sure that this country can continue to function.
00:18But instead, as we've repeatedly seen, Republicans have decided they'd rather jam your right-wing
00:28extreme ideology down the throats of the American people.
00:33We haven't been complicated in the point that we've made to our Republican colleagues
00:41about what needs to happen when it comes to ICE.
00:44We're standing on the side of the American people.
00:48Yes, we will always support securing the border, today, tomorrow, forever.
00:57But at the same period of time, immigration enforcement in this country should be fair,
01:05just, and humane.
01:07If you have something to say to me, you can say it right now.
01:13That's what I thought.
01:15Immigration enforcement in this country should be fair, it should be just, and it should be
01:21humane.
01:22But instead, you're unleashing brutality on the American people, using taxpayer dollars,
01:31in some instances, to kill American citizens.
01:35Mr. Speaker, I feel like I need to start with an apology to the minority leader.
01:40I wrongly laughed out loud when I heard him say in the well of the floor of the House of
01:47Representatives,
01:48quote, yes, we will always support securing the border today, tomorrow, and forever.
01:56An uncontrollable laugh.
02:01This is what started all this.
02:03An administration that did not care about securing our border and the Democrats who backed him
02:10up, along with Alejandro Mayorkas, who let 15 million illegal aliens into our great nation
02:18to cause chaos not to be a part of the fabric of America, but to tear apart the fabric of
02:25America.
02:26This is the stupidest shutdown in U.S. history, Mr. Speaker.
02:31Why do I say that?
02:32I want to quote the ranking member from a press release, January 20th, my good friend Rosa
02:38DeLauro, quote, the Homeland Security funding bill is more than just ICE.
02:43If we allow a lapse in the funding, TSA agents will be forced to work without pay.
02:48FEMA assistance could be delayed and the U.S. Coast Guard will be adversely affected.
02:52All while ICE continues functioning without any change in the operations due to 75 billion
02:59dollars it received in the one big beautiful bill, end quote.
03:05That prediction came true.
03:06And now we have chaos in America, chaos that the Democrats want.
