00:01U.S. President Donald Trump is insisting that Iran is begging to make a deal to end the war.
00:08The president, speaking at the start of a cabinet meeting on Thursday,
00:11said he wanted to set the record straight that he isn't the one pushing for a deal.
00:1626 days in, we're extremely, really a lot ahead of schedule.
00:23The Iranian regime is now admitting to itself that they have been decisively defeated.
00:29They're saying to people, this is a disaster.
00:33They know. That's why they're talking to us.
00:35They wouldn't talk otherwise.
00:37And they'll tell you, we're not negotiating.
00:39We will not negotiate.
00:41Of course they're negotiating.
00:42They've been obliterated.
00:43Who wouldn't negotiate?
00:45They are begging to make a deal.
00:48U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said there were strong signs Iran could be convinced to make a peace deal,
00:54even though Iranian officials have denied they are negotiating with the U.S. as the war continues in its fourth
01:00week.
01:01Trump also again criticized his NATO allies for not sending naval assets to secure the Strait of Hormuz.
01:09Nobody's a match for the United States, but they're not a match for the United States.
01:13It's small potatoes.
01:14That's why I'm so disappointed in NATO, because this was a test for NATO.
01:19This was a test.
01:20You can help us.
01:21You don't have to.
01:23If you don't have, you know, if you don't do that, we're going to remember.
01:26Just remember.
01:27Remember this in a number of months from now.
01:30Remember my statements.
01:31The U.S. has offered shifting objectives, including destroying Iran's missile and nuclear programs,
01:37ending Tehran's support for armed groups in the region, and pushing for the overthrow of Iran's theocracy.
01:43While the U.S.-Israeli campaign has hit Iran's military and government hard,
01:48killing top leaders and striking scores of targets,
01:51Iran continues to fire missiles, and there is no sign of an uprising against the government.
