Ex-French police officer held in Portugal over killing of two women

The former police officer is suspected of killing his ex-partner and his current partner; their bodies were found in Serra da Nogueira, Bragança. He was travelling with his two children when the GNR stopped his car in Mêda, in the district of Guarda.

00:00A 42-year-old former French police officer, suspected of murdering two women, was arrested
00:06in Portugal. The victims were revealed by authorities as the suspect's current and
00:12ex-partners, whose bodies were found in Serra de Noguera in the northeast of the country.
00:17The former cop, Cédric Prison, had been wanted by French authorities for several days prior to
00:23his arrest in the Iberian nation. Officials say he was detained by Portuguese National
00:29Republican Guard forces during an inspection on a major highway for forged documents and the
00:34illegal possession of a firearm. Prison was also traveling with his two children,
00:40aged just 13 and 18 months, who were found safe and taken to foster care institutions.
00:46Following his detention, Portuguese officials were alerted of pending French warrants for his arrest
00:52over charges of kidnapping his current and former partners and the two children. Media outlets say,
00:59it was Prison's eldest son who had provided information on the burial site of the two women
01:04to Portuguese law enforcement. A delegation of the French gendarme is reportedly being deployed
01:09to Portugal to take custody of the suspect.
