00:02It's not my job to comment on the Americans, or indeed the President.
00:05It's my job to comment on this government's stance.
00:06And I'm going to be really clear.
00:07We took an active decision, a difficult decision, but the right one,
00:11not to get involved in a conflict from an offensive action perspective
00:14that we do not know either the end state or had clear understanding of the plan.
00:18And when I've done every staff college in the military,
00:20and they've always said three things, legal mandate, plan, and understand the end state.
00:25If you don't have any of those, I'm not going to put troops in harm's way
00:27because I'm the individual that you're looking at right now that have seen dead people
00:30come back from conflicts because of decisions made in the past.
