00:00The majority of Americans say military action has gone too far in Iran, as the US has just
00:05deployed 1,000 more troops to the region.
00:08The Pentagon has confirmed that the US will be sending more than 1,000 troops from the
00:1382nd Airborne Division, a specialised parachute assault force, as part of troop mobilisations
00:19to the Middle East.
00:20The move comes as the Iran war enters its fourth week, with President Donald Trump considering
00:26his options to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
00:29His administration is reportedly considering plans to seize Karg Island, Iran's main oil
00:36hub.
00:36More troops, including marine units and amphibious ready groups, are also on their way to the
00:42region.
00:43However, at home, a new poll by AP Nork has shown that nearly 60% of Americans think US
00:50military action in Iran has already gone too far.
00:53According to the poll, many Americans are more worried about being able to afford gasoline
00:57than they are about replacing the Iranian regime with one that's more favourable to US interests.
01:04As a foreign policy objective, only around 3 in 10 people consider it crucial for the US
01:10to replace Iran's government with one that's friendlier to US interests.
01:15While 45% are extremely or very concerned about being able to afford gas in the next few months.
01:22With war in the Middle East, confrontations over Greenland and January's attack on Venezuela,
01:29Trump's approval ratings on his foreign policy stand at just 34%.
01:34There is significant support for at least one of the President's objectives, with around
01:39two thirds of people strongly agreeing that Iran must be prevented from obtaining a nuclear
