‘My daughter was not killed’: Claims linking Israel to French journalist’s death disputed

A social media campaign pushing fake news to exploit the death of a French journalist has emerged in recent days, accusing Israel of killing her in order to censor her reporting on Gaza. According to her family and friends, these claims are baseless.

00:07Posts circulating online claim that Israel was responsible for the death of French journalist
00:12Marine Vlaovic. The journalist was known for her documentary podcasts and her reporting from Hamala
00:17in the West Bank. She was found dead in her flat in Marseille in late 2024. Some social media posts
00:24also accused the Israeli intelligence service Mossad of being responsible for the journalist's
00:28death. However, her family says there is no evidence of foul play. In an exclusive interview
00:34with The Cube, her father insisted Marine Vlaovic was not murdered. According to her family,
00:40the post-mortem found no evidence of violence or traumatic injuries contributing to her death.
00:46Investigators also said that CCTV footage showed no indication that anyone else entered or left
00:52the building before her death. Similar claims that Vlaovic was killed was already circulating in 2025,
00:58despite no evidence supporting them. Online, posts attributing her death to Israel also presented
01:05as recent, although it occurred more than a year ago. Some even suggested her work on Gaza could
01:10be a motive. Her father, however, specified that she was not working in Gaza but in Cairo,
01:16where she was interviewing Gazans who had fled the Israeli bombardment. Despite no evidence linking her
01:22death to Israel, Marine Vlaovic had criticized the French media coverage of the war in Gaza in her final
01:28podcast episode, Gaza Calling, published in June 2024.
