00:09Hi my name is Dr. Ginger and we are here at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG
00:13Aquarium and today you're going to meet a very special patient of mine for her
00:17echocardiogram, Tequila the warty pig.
00:28Tequila the warty pig came on our grounds about a year and a half ago. We discovered that she had
00:32a heart condition called dilated cardiomyopathy and we discovered this with two different tests,
00:38the echocardiogram which is just the ultrasound of what you do with the heart and an EKG which
00:43is the electrical tracings done of the heart. Good girl, that's such a good girl. So this is
00:49an echocardiograph machine in essence allows us to image the heart of an animal and we're going to
00:54take the probe and place it on her skin and again with this ultrasound it's just sound waves so it
01:00doesn't cause any pain at all and it allows us to get a look at her heart. You see her
01:05heart on the
01:06screen there and now that Tequila is on medications for her heart disease her heart looks great on the
01:12echocardiogram. Everything's moving forward according to plan. Once we discovered that she had heart
01:18disease we were able to place her on a heart medication that increased the pumping of her heart.
01:23Once we started those medications she just took off from there putting on weight growing out her hair
01:28coat and becoming the pig that she always could be.
01:39And the best thing about it is Tequila discovered that echocardiograms weren't that scary
01:43and at the end of the day she got a treat out of it. An apple or a banana or
01:47an avocado. In the end it was a pretty good day.
01:50It was a nice day.
01:52It was just a day.
01:55You lost his degreefield.
