Trump insists Iran 'badly' wants deal with the US after Tehran dismisses his ceasefire proposal

The US president says Iranian leaders are denying ongoing negotiations with Washington in an attempt to save face and out of fear “they’ll be killed by their own people”. The comments came after Tehran rejected his 15-point truce proposal and instead listed their own demands to end the war.

00:00U.S. President Donald Trump insists negotiations to end the war with Iran are ongoing,
00:06even after Tehran had repeatedly rejected his claims and dismissed a 15-point proposal
00:12outlining U.S. demands, countering it with a list of their own demands.
00:17Trump had earlier warned Iran of significant escalations in intensity if it fails to enter
00:22a deal with the U.S., as he reiterated Washington's ability to prolong the fighting until its goals
00:28are achieved. Speaking at a fundraising dinner for his Republican Party, Trump said Iran's
00:34denial of ongoing talks is out of fear of being killed by their own people.
00:39We're winning so big, nobody's ever seen anything like we're doing in the Middle East with Iran.
00:45And they are negotiating, by the way, and they want to make a deal so badly, but they're afraid to
00:49say it
00:50because they figure they'll be killed by their own people. They're also afraid they'll be killed by us.
01:01Meanwhile, U.S. attacks have continued to strike targets across Iran, including in Isfahan,
01:08home to military bases and the infamous nuclear site, where residents reported major explosions.
01:15Israeli attacks are also continuing in Lebanon, where the IDF says it's continuing to dismantle
01:21networks of Iran's proxy, Hezbollah.
01:24We're seeing this security system in order to reflect the threat of our troops and our border.

02:0520 in Israel, and 13 U.S. troops.
02:08Oil prices remain stubbornly high as the crucial Strait of Hormuz continues to be closed,
02:14with Brent crude, the international standard, trading at around $104 a barrel on Thursday morning.
