00:15A new EuroConsumer survey across 10 countries shows they are already adjusting their behaviour
00:21in response to global events.
00:24While around one-third see the EU as a credible military power, many believe it's still
00:29lacks real influence internationally.
00:32Nearly half say they have already reduced or stopped buying American products amid growing
00:38political and trade tensions.
00:41In Denmark, that figure rises to 55%.
00:44At the same time, 70% believe the European Union should respond to US tariffs with countermeasures.
00:50Confidence in the transatlantic relationship in general is weakening.
00:54Only 28% of respondents believe the United States will remain a reliable partner in
00:59the long term.
01:00Scepticism is especially high in countries such as Denmark, Germany, Portugal, Ireland, Belgium
01:07and Spain, where large shares of respondents doubt the durability of the alliance.
01:13Instead, around half say the European Union should prioritize building new alliances beyond Washington.
01:20Elsewhere, most Europeans continue to see the EU as a major global player.
