00:12Bringing Dirt 5 to PlayStation 5
00:14was more a question of
00:15what are the unique things that are exciting
00:17for the player on PlayStation 5
00:19that we can give them a unique experience
00:22with. So one of the
00:23most significant things in the game
00:25that we're very proud of, that's exclusive
00:28to next generation consoles
00:29is our 120Hz mode
00:32Typically games run at 60 frames
00:34per second, 60Hz
00:35So when you're driving at 120 frames
00:38you're seeing double the
00:39amount of pixels
00:41That means that when you're sliding, when you're turning the camera
00:44when you're making adjustments
00:46everything feels so much smoother
00:49That means
00:50the feeling of responsiveness
00:52of the car, how it responds
00:54to the environment as it bumps along
00:56different crevices and things
00:58in the road
01:00It's going to feel a lot more immersive
01:02It's going to feel responsive
01:03and smooth
01:10The thing that I really like about it
01:11is the adaptive triggers
01:15There's not often
01:16that something in
01:18the controller space
01:21comes along and surprises
01:23something that comes along
01:24and makes you say
01:26Why were we not doing this before?
01:28This is incredible!
01:29In the past, rumble
01:31that you've experienced in controllers
01:33that was the main way that we felt
01:36kind of hand immersive
01:39experience
01:39while we're playing a video game
01:42and there wasn't enough expression
01:45within rumble
01:46You had a low rumble
01:48and a high rumble
01:49and you would just adjust
01:51how frequent
01:52you were turning them on and off
01:54With the adaptive triggers
01:55you don't just provide an on and off
01:57you actually provide a waveform
01:59like an audio file
02:02to say how hard
02:04and how soft you want it
02:05and how much you want it to push out
02:07and pull it
02:09These adaptive triggers
02:11it allows us
02:12as you're driving around
02:14to feel the world
02:15how we want you to feel it
02:17So when you're bumping up against things
02:19we can describe
02:21to the controller
02:21how hard
02:23is this ground?
02:24How much resistance
02:25should your finger feel
02:27as you're driving across that surface?
02:29That makes it feel
02:31very much like a
02:32no other racing game
02:34It's not anything like I've played before
02:36if I'm honest
02:37I pick up the controller
02:39and this big smile spreads across my face
02:42because I'm experiencing great action
02:44I'm experiencing great visuals
02:47and because I'm always playing in 120 FPS modes
02:50I'm experiencing great frame rates
02:52so much coming at me at once
02:54as well as my fingers
02:56expressing that world
02:57I'm feeling so brought in
02:59to what Dirt 5 is
03:01because of the power of what I'm experiencing
03:03in PlayStation 5
03:04One of the coolest features
03:06that I'm not hearing loads of other people talking about
03:08about DualSense
03:09because yeah the triggers are amazing
03:11they really are amazing
03:12but actually this controller is like
03:17it's almost like a portal into
03:18how do we get you the player
03:20immersed into the game
03:21and so a lot of players
03:23sit at home with their controller
03:25and they plug in a pair of headphones
03:26a gaming headset
03:27or something like that
03:28and you're getting stereo sound
03:31and you're driving around
03:32and you're getting rumble
03:33and it's a controller
03:35but that is not what DualSense does
03:37so PlayStation 5 has dedicated audio hardware
03:41the Tempest engine
03:42when you plug in a normal pair of headphones
03:44just any normal pair of headphones
03:47into the 3.5mm jack
03:48on the bottom of the DualSense
03:50you're going to experience ambisonic audio
03:53so you're going to get a simulation
03:56from those two little headphones
04:00of 7.1 surround sound
04:03so one of the things that we're doing with that
04:05is that in Dirt 5
04:08we have an incredible soundtrack
04:11including artists such as
04:12yes Pearl Jam
04:13one of my favourite bands
04:15Stormzy, The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers
04:18just an amazing soundtrack
04:20and as you're driving around the tracks
04:22you're going to hear the music coming
04:23out of the speakers
04:25that are in the world
04:27and then when you're using a headset
04:29on the DualSense controller
04:31you'll hear that coming around you
04:33as you go around the track
04:35because the speakers are
04:36physically located in the track
04:38so experiencing that 7.1
04:39out of your controller
04:41is a new experience for many gamers
