00:00Hey everyone, Steve from the Evil Empire Emotion Twin Teams here, back with another attempt at a vlog for you
00:07all.
00:08We've just released our 19th update, the update of Plenty, which started out as an attempt to better balance the
00:15game,
00:15but it's kind of ended up as a complete revamp of all of the items and mechanics that we felt
00:20were a bit underwhelming.
00:22You know, we kind of like making extra work for ourselves.
00:24So expect a bit of a different feel to your runs in Dead Cells as you go forward, hopefully in
00:31Jordan.
00:32So our first big rework was for the economy.
00:35A comment that's been floating around for a while now is that the price and quality of merchants is pretty
00:40awful if you don't have your forge maxed out.
00:43So to fix this, we're changing how much gold is dropped and how merchant categories actually work.
00:47So essentially you'll be able to buy more items and have more choice at each merchant.
00:51So you can change and improve your builds without worrying about having money later on down the track if you
00:57want to adjust your tactics, buy a health potion or anything else.
01:01At the same time, we made our weapons level more impactful, so switching your weapons during a run should be
01:07more rewarding.
01:08Next up is the forge rework.
01:10So we've actually removed the scrolls from the plus plus and S quality weapons and compensated for this by changing
01:16the health and damage of enemies.
01:17There's also more scrolls in the early levels depending on the boss cell that you're playing on.
01:23So this should help stop players who don't have their forge maxed out again from running straight into a difficult
01:28wall at higher levels.
01:30Especially the infamous 2bc spike.
01:33DOT or damage over time was also getting a bit of a bad rep.
01:37So we've reworked these effects to give each one their own identity.
01:41So bleeding will focus on killing one enemy at a time.
01:44You know, stack a whole bunch of bleed damage on an enemy and you get a one-off burst.
01:49Poison will be for crowd control.
01:51Low damage but really easily spread amongst enemies.
01:55Burn damage will stay the same because it's pretty much perfect.
01:58But we've also introduced a new shock effect.
02:01So essentially when you hit a shocked enemy, that enemy and any enemies nearby will take extra damage.
02:07However, the effect doesn't spread between them.
02:10Damage mutations.
02:11Also got a bit of a look over.
02:13At the moment damage from these mutations is calculated from a base DPS value.
02:18Separate from the weapons DPS value.
02:20So the mutations end up contributing less and less to total weapon damage as the weapon level of quality increases.
02:27Our weapons level quality and our fixes all increase your DPS purely by multiplying the weapon's base DPS by percentages.
02:34So this stops their effects from falling off as the weapon quality increases.
02:38So basically what we've done is just change the mutations to work in the same way that the weapons do.
02:44Finally, the last major part of the rework is on a ton of existing weapons and skills.
02:49So some are being buffed, some are being nerfed, but the idea is to make each and every item an
02:53actual real valid choice.
02:55Rather than having just a few core meta builds that really dominate the game.
03:00So crossbows for example are now all two-handed and uniquely for survival.
03:06So this lets you take advantage of having a bigger health pool to make up for their slower fire rate
03:10and hefty damage.
03:12So we're going to add some survival mutations to support the changes that we've made to crossbows.
03:17But we're just waiting to see how they perform instead of rushing out mutations that are going to have to
03:21be changed in a week from now anyway.
03:25Also you now get a backpack with every two-handed weapon.
03:28If you remember the scythe was the first two-handed weapon we introduced.
03:31And so you can hold on to a weapon or shield.
03:34That way you don't have an empty slot if you swap out your two-hander for a single-handed weapon
03:39later on.
03:42Anyway that's it for us this time.
03:44Hopefully you'll enjoy the changes that we've made.
03:46As usual if you don't, or if you do and you want to tell us about it please do.
03:50Hit us up in the comments here.
03:52Specifically if you really want to get in contact with us and be sure that we're going to see what
03:55you've written.
03:56Hit us on the reddit, subreddit, Dead Cells.
03:59Or on Discord.
04:01Generally that'll get through as soon as it's easiest.
04:03Or Twitter as well is pretty good as well.
04:05Anyway, thank you all.
04:06We couldn't do it without you.
04:07Take it easy.
