Iran mocks Trump's claims of talks as attempt to call 'defeat an agreement'

Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesperson Ebrahim Zolfaghari criticised remarks by US President Donald Trump about possible negotiations on Wednesday, dismissing the reports as an attempt to frame 'defeat as an agreement'.

"The level of your conflicts has reached the stage of negotiating with yourself,” he said. “Don’t call your defeat an agreement.”

“The strategic power you boasted about has turned into a strategic failure. The claimant of global superpower status, if it could have freed itself from this predicament, would have done so by now," he added.

Zolfaghari also warned that regional stability would not be restored without Iran’s involvement.

“Neither will you see any news of your investments in the region, nor will you see the previous price of energy and oil, until you understand that stability in the region is guaranteed by the powerful hand of our armed forces. Stability through power,” he said.

“Our first and last word from the very beginning has been, is, and will be this: no one like us will stand alongside someone like you, neither now nor at any other time,” he added.

His remarks came after Trump said talks were underway with Iran on a 15-point agreement to end the conflict, a claim Tehran has denied.

The escalation follows joint military operations by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, carried out during ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at limiting Tehran’s nuclear and missile programmes.

Tehran has since launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli territory and US military assets across the region, with explosions reported in several Gulf countries.

Iran later confirmed the killing of its Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, after which his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, assumed leadership.

The conflict has expanded to include Hezbollah in Lebanon, while disruptions to shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, have pushed oil prices above $100 per barrel, increasing pressure on global markets.
