00:00all right let's talk hype here for a second i mean the red sox unlike a lot of franchises
00:05in major league baseball are good at hyping their prospects we've heard it over the years
00:10uh and sometimes it works out you know nomar was hyped by dan duquette who loved him wanted to
00:15adopt him and nomar was the goods roman anthony christian campbell and marcelo meyer were all
00:23hyped but it looks like anthony is that guy i've seen some people even predict bold predictions
00:29that he's going to be the al mvp tell me about roman anthony do you think he is ready for
00:33that type
00:34of all-star level at 21 years old or would you tell people to pump the brakes a little bit
00:40on their roman anthony love yeah normally i would michael but i don't know it's just one of these
00:45weird things it's more so in the game of baseball than outside of the game of baseball and people
00:50just kind of watching and trying to hype it's it's in the game the talent evaluators uh the scouts
00:56they all say the same thing that this kid is a sure thing franchise type player and he's going
01:02to be the face of baseball and we just got a glimpse of that in the world baseball classic
01:06just to how good he's going to be is you know he's hitting seventh in a great lineup and all
01:10the
01:10players show a certain a huge amount of respect for him and and all people say is he's got the
01:15ability
01:16to keep his his swing level and keep that bat in the zone longer than other players so he has
01:21the ability to hit the ball better and and and harder than other players in the game they think
01:27that this kid is a surefire can't miss kid so i think you got to look at it and say
01:32well if all
01:32the baseball evaluators feel this way then i think maybe this kid is worth the hype he's got that star
01:37look to him at just 21 years old he looks like a young ted williams or a call your stramski
01:43and i
01:43think that's what kind of excites you about this kid i've never heard a bad word said about him i've
01:48ever heard a bad word said about his game that he that he brings other than you know he had
01:52that
01:52hiccup in defense to start last year but he just seems to be like ready for the big stage so
01:57i think
01:57the hype belongs there and again you look at how many prospects make it it's kind of difficult to
02:02come out and be that guy but i think a lot of people feel like he is legit so yeah
02:08i think uh when
02:09the red sox del devers uh like it or not they just kind of proclaim that roman anthony is now
02:13going
02:14to be your face of the franchise i'm not worried about roman anthony i am worried about
02:17marcello meyer a little bit i mean they're they're not going to play him against lefties
02:22he's playing out of position because there's just no room for him anywhere else they're going to put
02:26him at second base but it just seems like he's been knocking on the door now for a couple of
02:31years
02:31and he just can't find a way to get a truly a full-time role on this team well he
02:36can't stay
02:36healthy no john that's the big thing with him i don't think he's played in 100 games since uh you
02:41know coming into the even the minor leagues you're going back to 2020 by the way another red flag
02:46yeah yeah it's a big red flag he's just had various ailments along the way and it's something
02:50to be concerned about uh but i but i think they're going to give him every opportunity alex cora has
02:55been particularly hard on him through the media uh and then just behind the scenes that they feel he
03:01needs to grow up a little bit and take it a little bit more seriously just don't use your god
03:05-given
03:06talent which he has a lot of i think the red sox and cora have sent him a message even
03:10story talked
03:11about it alex spear had a nice article in the globe about it uh talking about how they want him
03:15to be
03:15there early at the ballpark go through his routines get his wrist worked on and then start
03:19his stretching start his hitting start everything to be ready for team drills and that took a lot
03:23this spring training so maybe they need him to grow up pretty quickly so they need him to stay healthy
03:28they need him to be ready to go uh he's a key part of this team and and like you
03:33guys were saying
03:33they're they're you look at all the prospects and there's been a lot of hype around all of these
03:37prospects but christian campbell is back down with a different swing in the minor leagues trying to
03:41work things out to come back to where he was a year ago when they signed him to that lengthy
03:46contract uh extension kyle teal is was part of the crochet deal so he's in he's in chicago and out
03:52of the big four you've got meyer a big question mark and you got anthony hopefully to be that number
03:57one guy in that face of the franchise but certainly have a lot of prospects but if you just need
04:02one or
04:02two of those guys to pan out and you kind of go from there rafaelis or it looks like he's
04:06going to be
04:07one of those prospects that stays duran one of those too so they've got a good amount and now
04:12they've got a lot of pitching in their system too so that's good
