00:16CON DISSEGREEMENT
00:30e in questo caso, Svanwan!
00:33Ah, sono felice che stiamo facendo questo, david.
00:35Sto facendo quello?
00:36Sto facendo multiplayer.
00:37Oh, è sempre divertente.
00:38E' sempre divertente.
00:38Cosa fare con la shell?
00:40Come on, la shell!
00:42Oh, sì!
00:43That silly thing, sì.
00:44I just soldi.
00:45I always wondered about that, actually.
00:47Oh, c'è una scena con us, l'intellectivore.
00:52Us?
00:53Sì, avete visto questo?
00:55Oh, hold on.
00:55You're going to love this.
00:56Let me show you.
00:57There's really a lot of options here, so...
00:59One second.
01:00All right, check it out.
01:01All right, yeah.
01:03Okay, so what do you want us to do?
01:04I could do the Gityanki thing, destroy it,
01:06but there's also other stuff that I can do.
01:08What do you think?
01:08Well, you are a Gityanki,
01:09so if you roleplay it, you could...
01:11What are you doing here?
01:11What's he doing here?
01:12Big dexterity.
01:13But why? No, he's a Gityanki kind of guy.
01:15No, I'm a Gityanki.
01:16Well, yeah, maybe.
01:18So, I think that we should...
01:20Allee, come on.
01:22All right, do the kit-ball.
01:26All right, well, that's it.
01:28It's always the same problem, eh?
01:30Yeah.
01:30It's like, we need to solve this, you know?
01:32Yeah.
01:33They're always barging in, telling us what they do.
01:35I think we need...
01:36I think we need a vote system.
01:38A voting system and dialogues.
01:40Yeah.
01:41And that we bring...
01:42We could also use it online.
01:44Oh, I like that.
01:44When you're streaming, you can ask your audience,
01:46what do you do?
01:47Oh my god, oh my god.
01:48Oh my god.
01:49Let's do this!
01:50Yeah!
01:50Woo!
01:51Eat your buttons.
01:53One, two, three.
01:54You can push on the buttons.
01:55It's not even blue.
01:56I just see there's no blue face.
01:57I get the hammer.
01:59Then where's the sickle?
02:00I mean...
02:01It's a small base.
02:02It's a small base.
02:03It's a camp.
02:04It's a camp.
02:05It's a message box, eh?
02:07It's a box.
02:07It's a box.
02:08It's a box.
02:10It's a box.
02:10It's a box.
02:12It's a box.
02:17It's a box.
02:29I need to get him off the box.
02:30I need to get him off the box.
02:31I need to get him off the box.
02:32It works.
02:34It's done.
02:35It's finished.
02:36It's glorious.
02:37Yeah!
02:38It's gonna work!
02:40Yeah!
02:41Now.
02:42Someone's going to have to tell Jaycee.
02:44F***!
02:46And you know what?
02:47Ma questo è proprio quello che abbiamo fatto.
02:49Ma due anni fa, abbiamo messo Jason Lattino, il Cinematic Director,
02:53che abbiamo messo con Baldur's Gate 3,
02:55per quattro single-player e multiplayer cinematics,
02:57e abbiamo messo alcune soluzioni.
03:00Abbiamo un'intervista con Jason,
03:01quindi vi faccio vedere.
03:05I'm Jason Lattino, Cinematic Director,
03:07a Larian Studios.
03:09We're in the Dublin office.
03:10This is where both the writing team
03:13is centrally located,
03:15along with cinematics,
03:17so we're determining in this office
03:19what story we're telling,
03:20and how we're telling the story,
03:22which is taking that camera down
03:24from being above the players
03:26and right into the drama
03:28and right into the action.
03:30Say it.
03:31You think I'm a monster.
03:33We've come up with a system that allows voting,
03:36that allows kind of seeing
03:39other players' preferences
03:40for what I would do in that scenario.
03:43You might be learning secrets,
03:45you might be finding out
03:47about a weapon cache somewhere,
03:48or a certain mission that you want to do on your own.
03:51The fact that you're suddenly observed
03:53is information you need to know as the player,
03:56and presenting that in a cinematic way
03:58is what my whole department is doing.
04:01Baldur's Gate is an absolutely huge game.
04:04I can't think of another early access game
04:07that's done cinematics on this level,
04:10that has deliberately chosen
04:12to present their story in close-up like this.
04:15There's a lot of games where
04:16the moment you add cinematics,
04:17they have to get smaller,
04:18because there's animations
04:20and all the manual work
04:23that goes into this stuff.
04:25We didn't want to do that.
04:27We don't want to limit the stories that...
04:29I don't want to be the guy that showed up
04:30and limit the stories that Larian's telling.
04:32So we're working on some adaptive cameras
04:35that work the same way
04:37if you're a half-elf or if you're a half-ling.
04:40We want you, if you're playing a gnome,
04:43for that story to be told from your perspective.
04:45We want that to be cinematic.
04:47We want you to feel like you're telling your story
04:49and we're shooting it for you.
04:51If you're walking around
04:52and you see one of your buddies is engaged in dialogue,
04:55that means they are seeing a cutscene
04:57that they have blinders on.
04:59And this is something that kind of goes back
05:01with the kind of Larian tradition
05:03of being able to pickpocket people
05:06that are kind of engaged in social activities
05:08and sequences.
05:09And so you can pickpocket your friends,
05:11you can pickpocket the person they're talking to.
05:14You can move around dynamic objects
05:16and woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
05:18Pickpocket them!
05:23My, my, the mask suits you!
05:26Later on, if you choose to play Astarion or a vampire,
05:31you might wake up in the middle of the night
05:32kind of looking for a midnight snack.
05:35You know, the menu, the dialogue options,
05:38the way that you can take that scene
05:40is basically going to be a list of your friends
05:42or party members.
05:44If you're playing multiplayer,
05:46that's going to be a list of the guys
05:48that you're playing with.
05:50And what's great about that is not only
05:52are they on the menu for that night,
05:54they're going to see that.
05:56They're going to see that they're on the menu.
05:57And through the kind of the voting mechanic,
05:59they're going to be able to say,
06:01this is like, no, no, no.
06:02Okay. I'll, I'll give one up for the team.
06:03Or they can try and sell out their buddies
06:05and just say, no, no, bite him, bite him.
06:07So that's, that's a way that like,
06:10there's that dramatic irony that we're able to play on
06:14and we'll be looking for more ways to experiment with
06:17as we develop the game.
06:19Because taking on multiplayer cinematics
06:23is something that hasn't really been done.
06:25It's typically, you'll have a multiplayer game
06:28with cinematics and they, they're,
06:30but they're consumed basically the same way.
06:32All I want is a little fun.
06:34Is that so much to ask?
06:36And what's what we want to do is,
06:38is take that one step further.
06:40And actually this is like, well,
06:41your friends are seeing that you're seeing this as well.
06:43And they're putting their vote on.
06:44They can try and sell their friend out.
06:46They could say, don't eat me.
06:47Or it's just like, no bite me.
06:49And so there, but they,
06:51they don't have control over the situation.
06:53So there's that, that, that fine kind of dramatic irony
06:56that you get in this game with our multiplayer cinematics.
07:00And we're always going to be looking for more opportunities to do this.
07:02That's just one that we're wrenching in currently.
07:04Stop!
07:06I give up!
07:08You know, it's an experiment.
07:09It's, there's not many, uh, uh,
07:12kind of narrative experiences of that kind.
07:15Um, cinematics is typically you watch a movie versus participate in it.
07:21Uh, and, uh, even though there are other games that allow you to,
07:24to choose where the story goes,
07:26there are very few games that allow you to do that in concert with your friends
07:30and through multiplayer.
07:31So developing those scenes, figuring out when we're trying this,
07:35what works and what doesn't, um, uh, throwing stuff out,
07:39adding things in, mutating, rewriting, uh, reshooting.
07:43That's, that's, that's an organic process that we all get to do together.
07:47That's what early access is all about.
07:49It's figuring out what has impact with you guys,
07:51what has resonance, uh,
07:53and how we can surface that more in the way that we choose to do our work.
07:56And that is just the dialogues in multiplayer.
07:58There is so much more to the multiplayer version of Baldur's Gate 3
08:00that you have to, uh, experience it to believe it.
08:04Uh, for example, uh, in combat when, uh, it is your turn
08:07and it is another player's turn at the same time,
08:09you can now simultaneously command your, uh, party
08:12and have them do things and, uh, have them interact with each other, actually.
08:15Uh, which leads to a lot of, uh, discussion, obviously,
08:17but it's also a lot of fun.
08:19Likewise, uh, if you're a streamer, you can, at any moment that you want,
08:23give control of your dialogues to your audience
08:25and then you will see what they voted for.
08:27And I think it's going to lead to a lot of very, very interesting adventures.
08:31Uh, we have more, but it's not all of it is ready
08:33because the game is still in development
08:34and we're just preparing for early access.
08:36But once the early access campaign will be rolling,
08:38we are going to introduce multiplayer feature after multiplayer feature.
08:41And obviously we're going to listen to what you have to tell us
08:43and then we'll add those things on top of it also.
08:46At least they're doable.
08:47Uh, that's it for me today.
08:49Uh, we are going to be back with a new community update
08:52and that, in that one, we're going to tackle the topic of romance in Baldur's Gate 3.
08:56See you soon.
08:57Take care.
08:58Bye bye.
09:19Where's my show?
09:21Bye bye.
09:21Bye bye.
09:22Bye bye.
09:22Grazie.
