00:00e questo è anche un spoiler
00:03cosa non è un spoiler?
00:16Ciao, sono Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich
00:17sono creatore della Netflix serie The Witcher
00:20Ciao, sono Tomek Bagiński
00:22sono EP del show
00:23e siamo qui per te spiegare il nostro nuovo trailer
00:28I've heard tales of your kind, Witcher
00:36You're a mutant
00:39Created by magic
00:41There are a couple of moments in the trailer
00:43that are actually really important
00:44and they seem subtle
00:45which is a moment where Yennefer opens one of her eyes
00:49and then another scene in which Geralt opens his eyes
00:52For us, it's a really huge theme in our series
00:54which is the idea of waking up into a new life
00:57of rebirth
00:58Yennefer's rebirth is much more visceral, let's say
01:02And in every episode she has a moment of change
01:05It's certainly the most drastic from beginning to end
01:08Geralt's a much slower transition of rebirth
01:10He is grappling with what it means to be a Witcher
01:13Every time in the trailer where you see Geralt fighting
01:16That's important
01:18It's Henry Cavill fighting
01:19Henry does all of his own stunts on our show
01:21It's true on every level
01:25Even if we see a detail of his chest, it's Henry
01:28Even if we see a part of his hand, it's Henry
01:32And I think this was the most beautiful about Henry being this character
01:38to that extent
01:39because he became Geralt
01:41Roaming the continent
01:44We don't want your kind here
01:45Hunting monsters
01:49It's funny because monsters are huge in The Witcher
01:51But it's actually one of the things that we're trying to hold out of the teasers and trailers
01:55as much as possible
01:56because we think there's a great element of surprise for existing fans
02:00who don't know what stories we're playing with and what monsters we're playing with
02:03And also there's a couple of new monsters that we've come up with
02:07based on a lot of sort of Polish folklore
02:08I'm really hoping that people will be very surprised with some of our choices
02:13We try to have our actors interact with something real as often as possible
02:17We always try to limit the amount of pure CGI and just computer graphics to the proper level
02:23because it can be great if it's used well
02:26But we didn't want to overuse it
02:29There is no better blood than real blood
02:31Or at least fake
02:32Oh, so that makes it sound like we kill people at The Witcher
02:35No, like fake blood, but the real one
02:38There's a very important character in the world of The Witcher
02:41and he makes an appearance in the trailer walking with Geralt
02:45And this is Jaskier
02:46There's been some drama about the fact that I chose to write Jaskier as Jaskier
02:51and not Dandelion as he is known in English
02:54Some people even say that he was the guy who wrote all the stories
02:57Yes, there's the idea that he is actually the one that's narrating all of these stories
03:02for use in his music
03:03Jaskier thinks Geralt is his best friend in the world
03:06Geralt doesn't necessarily feel the same about Jaskier
03:09He doesn't necessarily say this about Jaskier
03:12but I think he feels it a little bit
03:16I thought you'd have fangs or horns or something
03:20I had them filed down
03:23All the brutality, all the sexuality
03:25It's all very, very important in this world
03:28but it's also embedded in the characters, in the story
03:31It's not just there
03:34No, it's definitely sort of pushing stories forward
03:36Don't feel the need to shock the audience
03:38These stories are engaging enough without really pushing the shock value of the audience
03:42Which doesn't mean that it's not shocking at the moment
03:44No, it is
03:47People call you a monster too
03:52Why not kill them?
03:54Because then I am what they say I am
03:56We see Geralt's sword and there's a strange object on it
04:00And it's actually something that we delved into in the first episode
04:03That object is the brooch of a character named Renfri
04:07Renfri's brooch actually is something that Geralt carries with him for the rest of the series
04:12And he sort of uses it as his guiding principle of whether or not to take action
04:18All of our choices draw our destinies closer
04:21Come, if he is out there, there is still hope
04:28I have to find Geralt to reveal them
04:35Don't judge me
04:36Anyone who's familiar with the books knows that
04:39Roach and Geralt have a very special relationship
04:41Henry actually cast Roach himself
04:46Because he really wanted to make sure that
04:48That he as an actor felt the bond with the creature that Geralt is supposed to feel with Roach
04:52Geralt obviously has two swords in the series
04:55Yeah, of course he has two swords
04:56One for the monsters, one for the humans
05:00And we see him mostly with his steel sword on his back
05:04Coming into the series, I always assumed that he would actually use the silver sword more than he does
05:09Geralt is a monster hunter
05:11But this danger is coming very, very often from the human side
05:15And we never forgot about the second sword
05:17The second sword is there with the horse
05:20This is how it was originally done in the Andrew Sapkowski stories
05:23They say witches can't feel human emotion
05:26What do you believe in?
05:28And I was just thinking of another moment in the trailer
05:30Where we see Geralt and Yennefer together
05:32And Geralt is in a bathtub
05:34Which I think fans have been wanting and waiting for
05:36These are two people who have been determined
05:39Not to need people and not to want people in their lives
05:42And then they intersect
05:43It's just the beginning of their relationship
05:45Which will be very, very stormy
05:48But very beautiful
05:49Evil is evil
05:53Lesser
05:56Greater
05:59Meddling
06:03It's all the same
06:04We play a lot with sort of the themes of good and evil in our series
06:08And we try to make sure that in every episode we flip-flop with our characters a little bit
06:14We look at a character who seems like the good guy
06:16And we actually start to question his or her motivations
06:19And we do the same thing with villains all the time as well
06:21It's all mixed and convoluted
06:23And it's very, very messy
06:25Like our world
06:33Princess Cirilla
06:35Is your destiny
06:39I can't protect her
06:56So there's a mysterious moment with Ciri in the trailer
06:59Where she has something dripping from her hands
07:02And what we can say about it is that Ciri goes through a lot of trauma this first season
07:07And that trauma is sort of revisited to her in her dreams and nightmares
07:11This is the moment where she understands that she's actually somebody else
07:14Yeah
07:15I don't think there is other show right now which is using magic so often
07:20And to that extent as we are
07:23We see a moment in the trailer of Geralt using art
07:26Which is a different type of magic
07:27Very, very basic battle magic
07:29Magic is a big part of the world of Witcher
07:32And it's also quite original because it's not just magic
07:35It's kind of a science of this world
07:37Geralt to enhance his abilities as a warrior
07:40He's using quite a lot of elixirs
07:43They are basically poisons
07:44But for Witchers they are actually like enhancers
07:48The elixirs make him faster, stronger
07:50Help him seeing in the dark
07:52And he actually undergoes a physical transformation as well
07:55Most people will consider him a monster
07:57I'll take that chance
08:02So that is all we have for you
08:04We hope that you enjoy the trailer
08:05And stay tuned for the show to come
08:08And I can only say the same
