00:05Hello everyone, Joe Neater here, executive producer, with another weekly Sea of Thieves dev update.
00:09So first I wanted to talk a little bit about next week's update, Fort of the Damned.
00:13So this has been going through insider testing for the last couple of weeks.
00:17Been making some really good kind of tweaks and changes based on insider feedback.
00:21It's in a really good place now and really excited about this kind of, this Fort of the Damned experience
00:26as the kind of showpiece as part of next week's update.
00:30So alongside that, I also wanted to talk a little bit about just some of the kind of quality of
00:34life improvements
00:35that are going to be coming along with this build.
00:37So obviously there's a lot of stuff that we'll reveal next week with the update itself,
00:41but I just wanted to hit on some of the kind of key quality of life stuff that's coming with
00:45this.
00:45So first of all, multiple gunpowder bowels will now chain explode correctly as opposed to all exploding at the same
00:52time.
00:53Yay.
00:55And pets, we made a little tweak to kind of pets audio.
00:58So when pets were kind of scared by danger, they would be quite excessive and repetitive.
01:04And so, you know, especially in kind of the heat of combat, your pets would be quite annoying,
01:10for want of a better word.
01:11So we've made some tweaks and changes to the audio there.
01:14So they're not going to kind of keep repeating and stuff.
01:15So it should be a much more kind of balanced experience for pets.
01:19and basically they've got a little bit braver is what's happened.
01:24So we've also been addressing some sort of minor issues around combat.
01:28So I'll just kind of talk through those.
01:30So the first of those is if you now aim or block kind of straight after sprinting,
01:34it will correctly aim the weapon or it will transition into a block
01:38and other players will kind of see that block across the network.
01:41So there were some issues there if you were doing it straight coming out of a sprint,
01:44but we believe we've addressed those now.
01:46And also if you were holding an action such as name or a block,
01:49then initiating a sprint, when you come out of the sprint,
01:52that action will be kind of re-triggered.
01:54Previously, you had to kind of press it again.
01:56But now, so if you're kind of, you know, you're blocking or aiming,
01:59you start sprinting and then come out,
02:00it will kind of transition back as long as you've kept that button held.
02:04So just some kind of tweaks there on the combat itself.
02:07There's a new accessibility setting known as reduce hold to use item,
02:10which basically means that instead of having to hold to use things,
02:14you can actually toggle.
02:15So as opposed to hold a button down to aim, you can just toggle it.
02:19And so, you know, if anyone that has trouble kind of really holding down buttons on the controller,
02:24then this is just a setting that you can select now
02:26and you'll just be able to toggle things back and forward.
02:29So it should be a nice improvement there in the accessibility side of things.
02:32Alongside all of that, one of the things that's been requested for quite a while
02:36is a wider range of kind of feminine clothing.
02:39So there's going to be quite a nice range of new feminine clothing coming with this update.
02:44Obviously, everybody can equip that,
02:47but it's very much targeted from a kind of feminine perspective.
02:50And we've also, most importantly,
02:53you're going to be able to now change the colour of your underwear,
02:55which is very, very important for pirates.
02:58So that's just a few previews of just some of the kind of quality of life improvements
03:02that are coming with next week's update.
03:04So we'll reveal everything that's going to be a part of it next week.
03:08It's a really cool update.
03:09Like genuinely, the thought of the damn stuff,
03:11the internal testing we've been doing,
03:12the insider kind of feedback we've been getting has been super positive.
03:15I think it's going to be a really cool, interesting kind of experience.
03:19Again, that pulls people together.
03:21It's going to be a really cool kind of moment in the world.
03:23And there's just a bunch of other stuff that's coming alongside it too.
03:26So yeah, really exciting update.
03:28Really looking forward to kind of seeing how this goes down.
03:30So we will have more to share on that next week.
03:31I also wanted to talk a little bit about one of the things that's popped up in our community recently,
03:36which is the Sea of Champions.
03:38So this is a really cool event that's being run by a kind of bunch of creators in the community
03:42for the community.
03:44And kind of it's been really cool to see when they announced it
03:47and the kind of all the kind of subsequent kind of the details that they've revealed
03:52around kind of the prize pool they've put together
03:54and I think the kind of commentators or casters that are going to be taking part.
03:58And this is a really cool kind of event.
04:00And we love to see people in our community creating this kind of stuff.
04:06And with Sea of Thieves, we've talked in the past and kind of more recently
04:12about the potential for kind of private servers in the future for Sea of Thieves,
04:16which would enable this kind of thing to kind of happen more often
04:19and it's easier for people to kind of set up and stuff.
04:22But that's on our kind of midterm kind of roadmap,
04:25so it's not on the immediate stuff that we're working on at the moment.
04:27But we definitely intend for this kind of, for private server support in the future for Sea of Thieves.
04:33But, you know, in the meantime, when people like the people behind Sea of Champions
04:38reach out to us who are kind of creators in our community
04:40and they've got a really cool pitch, a really cool idea,
04:43then that's something that we'd like to listen to,
04:45it's something we'd like to entertain.
04:46And look, is that something that we can help support
04:47and we can help support kind of behind the scenes in terms of setting it up.
04:51So, you know, and we also look at other things in the community,
04:55like the race of legends, another really cool thing that we've seen
04:59that's kind of set up and people have been running for a while now.
05:02And it's really cool because, you know, it's great kind of stuff for people to watch
05:06and also great stuff for people to take part in.
05:08And so if there are other creators in our community
05:12that have, like, cool ideas around things that they'd want to do in Sea of Thieves,
05:17then we're open to people reaching out to us and kind of throwing their ideas at us.
05:20And if it's something that we can support and something we can do in the kind of near term,
05:24then we can have some discussions around that.
05:26But definitely in the future, you know, our aim is to have private server support
05:32so this stuff can be done a lot easier.
05:33But it's really cool for us to have these ideas thrown towards us.
05:37And if it's a really good, compelling idea,
05:39we think it's going to do something cool for the kind of watchability of Sea of Thieves
05:43and overall for the community of the game,
05:46then that's something that we'll entertain
05:48and we can look and see if it's something that we can kind of work with people on.
05:51Final reminder that October the 16th is when Fort of the Damned comes out.
05:55So if you are trying to get any of the time-limited kind of cosmetics or rewards
05:58as part of the previous month's update that I forgot the name of,
06:04then you've got a week.
06:08So apart from that, I hope I'll see you on the seas.
06:10Cheers!
06:16So obviously we've had a lot of people reaching out to us
06:18about the bald lady of Crook's Hollow
06:20and we wanted to confirm once and for all that it is in fact.
