Gameplay delle Spedizioni per Far Cry: New Dawn.
Trascrizione
00:03The premise of Far Cry New Dawn kind of accentuates that.
00:09The front seat is reserved for Timber, please, okay?
00:12If you are, I will kick you out of the helicopter
00:14if you try to take Timber's spot, just to be clear.
00:16That's fair.
00:24Hey guys, welcome back to PlayStation Underground.
00:26You've got Kristen, Tim, and Justin here.
00:27We're checking out Far Cry New Dawn out from Ubisoft.
00:30On February 15th.
00:32Now, Tim, you actually went to an event recently.
00:34This is the footage of you actually playing.
00:36Can you tell us a little bit, what is Far Cry New Dawn?
00:38What are we about to see?
00:39Yeah, 100%.
00:40So I got a chance to check out the game with Ubisoft
00:43and went to an event, and a lot was on offer there.
00:46There was like the whole of Hope County was on offer.
00:50You know, it's 17 years later, the bombs have dropped.
00:5417 years after Far Cry 5.
00:56Exactly, yes, after the events of Far Cry 5.
00:59And so that was a really surprising ending.
01:01And even more surprising is that they've made this post-apocalyptic world
01:05that isn't really bleak.
01:07It's like the super bloom took over in General Hope County.
01:10Now, where we are right now is on an expedition, which I'll set up here.
01:14So there's Hope County.
01:15There's your camp, Prosperity.
01:17You're trying to fight against the evil highwaymen and just kind of eke by and rebuild society.
01:22But to help get more resources, you can engage in these expeditions,
01:28which are like for the first time in like the Far Cry series,
01:31you can actually go outside the main open world map for these sort of bespoke side areas all across the
01:38country.
01:38So there's like the Navajo Bridge in Arizona.
01:41This is an aircraft carrier that's like on coastal Florida.
01:45Oh, okay.
01:46And we'll be showing off another one.
01:47Looks just like home.
01:50Complete with the smiley face saw blades and everything.
01:53So did you spend a lot of your time doing those expeditions,
01:56those things outside of Hope County,
01:57or did you get some Hope County gameplay as well?
01:59It was a good mix.
02:01My main priority, which I didn't end up including here,
02:05was going to like Joseph Seed's like cult island from the first game.
02:13And there's some fun things there.
02:14But this was where the real action was in that play session.
02:17I played three of the expeditions.
02:19And it's really cool.
02:21One of the things that they've done here is you kind of go in
02:24and instead of like say capturing a base in Far Cry,
02:27the goal in the expeditions is really to just get in,
02:31like steal that loot cache, which I just grabbed in here,
02:33and then get out.
02:34Get in, get out.
02:35Run, run, run, run, run.
02:36Yeah.
02:36It's a real hit and run.
02:38So you could go in stealthily still and really try to be sneaky about it.
02:43But I kind of went brute force on this one.
02:45and the piece about it not being captured is also that they're really replayable.
02:52so you can go back on higher difficulties and play them again.
02:55Do it again and again.
02:56And they'll be harder and get better rewards and stuff.
02:58Are you about to swan dive?
03:00I am.
03:01Pull your parachute a little way.
03:03Just in time.
03:05That's better than my first attempt.
03:06This is actually my second attempt at this one,
03:08which is I thought the water was a lot deeper.
03:10I forgot how shallow it was.
03:11and I just planted it.
03:13Oh, no.
03:14This in hindsight was a really risky exit here.
03:18Yeah.
03:19You're living on the edge though.
03:20That is correct.
03:22The coastal edge.
03:24It's a Florida way to live.
03:27You would know that, Kristen.
03:28That's right.
03:30So they're just taking pot shots at me in the water.
03:32And so basically you get the loot cache and then you...
03:35Survive until the helicopter lands.
03:37Exactly.
03:38Nice.
03:38And on this one I had a very good dog at my side named Timber.
03:42Aww.
03:43Who is an Akita Inu that I rescued.
03:47There was a really dramatic, you know, I don't know.
03:51It looks like you're going for the long shots.
03:52The food resources are really scant in Far Cry New Dawn.
03:57And I rescued Timber.
03:58And you had to save him from a bad situation.
04:02Sweet little pup.
04:03So you can choose different companions though, correct?
04:05Exactly.
04:06Yeah, there's still other companions, both human and animal in Far Cry New Dawn,
04:11like a lot like Far Cry 5.
04:13And so, and then, yeah, just also for those that maybe don't know that much
04:16about New Dawn, it is a standalone follow-up to Far Cry 5.
04:21Yeah.
04:21I was going to say, because I played a bit of Far Cry 5,
04:24but I didn't finish the main campaign.
04:27Am I going to be totally lost if I start playing this?
04:29I really don't think so.
04:30Like Far Cry 5 is actually, I've gotten into a lot of the Far Cry games,
04:33but Far Cry 5 was the first one I finished the whole story.
04:37Oh, look at Timber go.
04:38Timber.
04:39Yeah, stay away from my dog.
04:41And I think that, you know, it's a cool bonus if you've played Far Cry 5
04:45that you have all this context, but it's so visually different
04:48and tonally different that I think you could just dive right into this.
04:52So Far Cry is a series known for just being bonkers, just ludicrous,
04:57crazy things happening all the time.
04:59And the premise of Far Cry New Dawn kind of accentuates that.
05:03The dog is fresh.
05:06The front seat is reserved for Timber, please, okay?
05:09If you are, I will kick you out of the helicopter if you try to take Timber's spot,
05:12just to be clear.
05:13That's fair.
05:14He's looking up the pilot like a good boy.
05:16I'm a very good boy.
05:17Yeah, is there anything that you experienced in Far Cry New Dawn
05:21that really stood out to you?
05:22It's just like, wow, this is really just even crazier
05:25than the stuff I'm used to seeing in Far Cry,
05:28given the new premise with all the mutations going on and all of that?
05:32That is an excellent question.
05:34Let's set up this next expedition, and I will answer that question.
05:38Okay.
05:40So Justin, I think this next expedition sort of answers your question
05:44to some degree where it's like, now it's Far Cry,
05:47so it's post-apocalyptic, but you take these expedition areas
05:50like an abandoned amusement park and combine what I think
05:53is probably the most striking element of New Dawn,
05:55which is the art style, like just the neon smoke
05:59indicating where the cache is.
06:00Oh, look at that already, yeah.
06:01And this is even the flowers and the foliage that you see
06:06in the background there are more speckled around Hope County itself.
06:09So I think they've leaned into a little bit more
06:12of that kind of blood-dragony bombast.
06:15Yeah, yeah.
06:16Oh, awesome.
06:16Which is another reason.
06:18Yeah, this looks rad.
06:18I think it's a good reason to jump in.
06:19Yeah.
06:20I was going to say, it looks very different from Far Cry 5.
06:23Oh, yeah.
06:24I love even the menus when you were in the menus.
06:27It's kind of like the highlights were all pinkified
06:29and everything too.
06:30It's all very kind of thematically congruent.
06:35Yeah, it's a cool take on like the whole post-apocalyptic look
06:38and I think you take that, like you mentioned the menus,
06:42like people might have seen a glimpse of like the makeshift weapons
06:45where you have like flashlights.
06:47Oh, yeah.
06:47Like Jerry Rig does scopes and, you know,
06:52you're shooting saw blades in the previous mission.
06:55So this one, as I mentioned, was in a abandoned amusement park.
06:59I swapped out Timber for a co-op partner.
07:02I had an Ubisoft rep playing with me.
07:03And just to kind of get a different look at this in my loadout,
07:08I kind of switched things up with a rocket launcher
07:10to try to be a little bit, I noticed that when you're trying
07:13to wait for the helicopter, a lot of vehicles would roll up.
07:16And so I wanted to pack the power here.
07:18You did a loadout for that.
07:20Yeah.
07:21Did you notice any good strategic points on this map?
07:24Yeah.
07:25I found the best luck kind of sticking to the high ground.
07:28The cool thing is when you replay these,
07:30sometimes your point of entry and the exfiltration point
07:34are different.
07:35So you'll kind of approach them from different parts of the map.
07:38Exactly.
07:38Like the Navajo Bridge we mentioned before.
07:41You know, you might start at one side of the bridge
07:43and exit on the other.
07:44Nice shot.
07:44Thank you so much.
07:47And then another cool point,
07:48since we're talking about co-op here,
07:50Far Cry 5 was really fun as far as co-op goes,
07:53but there was this sort of thing sometimes
07:54where the story progress, you know,
07:56you had to be the host in order to advance your story progress.
07:58and they made it so that all of the resources are shared.
08:01You're no longer like building reputation with the resistance.
08:04You have these shared resources
08:05and advancing the story is based on getting these resources
08:08like ethanol to unlock, you know,
08:10to get fuel for your chopper to do expeditions, for example.
08:13And you share all those resources in the whole game.
08:16So you're really incentivized.
08:18Yeah.
08:19It encourages co-op a lot more.
08:20Yes, exactly.
08:22That was really brutal.
08:23Sorry.
08:24Double tap.
08:25Take no chances.
08:28Also fully apologize and acknowledging,
08:30especially this is more criminal with the 50 cal,
08:33but I am like a compulsive reloader.
08:35Like I'll take like two shots and I need to reload.
08:38Yeah, I'm the same way.
08:39It's just, you know,
08:41the animations are usually really slick.
08:43I'm really bad about that.
08:44I'm usually the opposite that I just like completely empty the clip
08:47and I'm like, where did it all go?
08:49Yeah.
08:52So this is a theme park.
08:54Yeah.
08:55In the bayou, basically.
08:56I keep being reminded of that when you look up and like,
08:58oh, there's a giant dilapidated ferris wheel.
09:00There's that thing that made me sick when I was a kid.
09:04Okay.
09:04I think I, here we go.
09:06This is what I planned for.
09:08Challenge completed.
09:09You know, it says amateur rocket launcher,
09:11so I'm working on it.
09:12I feel like that was a pretty pro move, though.
09:14So thank you.
09:15That wasn't an amateur at work.
09:18So I feel like I was a little, I don't know.
09:21I feel like I leave my co-op partner hanging a few times here.
09:25They can handle themselves.
09:26They actually were very good.
09:27It's almost like they worked at the company making the game.
09:30Weird.
09:31But these were,
09:32I felt like these moments were really,
09:34these expeditions were really nice bite-sized things to do.
09:37Like, you know, 15,
09:38you know,
09:39if you really take your time,
09:40like 15,
09:4020 minutes or you can be really aggressive like this
09:42and get in and get out
09:43and just a really fun way to change up the pace
09:45of exploring the open world.
09:47And there's more than, you know,
09:50the three we've mentioned.
09:51I don't know the exact final count or anything,
09:53but there's a good variety.
09:56And then there's everything to do in Hope County itself,
09:59which is, you know,
10:00there's returning characters from the,
10:02like Far Cry 5,
10:03like Joseph Seed plays a part.
10:05Oh, yeah.
10:07There's other characters whose story started
10:10and is picked up 17 years later.
10:11Ouch.
10:12I was going to say,
10:12I'm excited to see more of the two dual villains,
10:16Mickey and Lou.
10:16Yeah.
10:17Yeah.
10:17They just look really cool.
10:19They are really cool.
10:19Just in general,
10:20they look really cool.
10:21I am too.
10:22I'm really intimidated.
10:23I didn't directly encounter them,
10:25but you hear them across,
10:27like,
10:27their commands and stuff.
10:28Yeah.
10:29And that's a really cool prelude,
10:31because I'm sure when you do encounter them,
10:32eventually it's going to be pretty intimidating
10:34in that classic Far Cry villain way.
10:37Far Cry has always had a knack
10:40for very strong villain characters.
10:43The first one I played was Far Cry 3,
10:45and it was Voss,
10:46I believe was his name.
10:47Yes.
10:48Yeah.
10:48And Far Cry 4 had the Power of Meat.
10:53Yes.
10:53Yeah, you're right.
10:55Yeah.
10:55And they're always just so,
10:56like,
10:57megalomaniacal,
10:58like,
10:58crazy,
10:59like,
10:59legitimately insane people.
11:01You did it.
11:03Oh,
11:04just going to leave them with a parting gift.
11:06Yeah.
11:06I got a couple for them.
11:09But this is the gist of Far Cry New Dawn,
11:11as far as the expeditions go.
11:13There's a lot more to check out.
11:15Very cool.
11:16All right.
11:16Well,
11:17we can't wait to jump in and play it over and over again.
11:19Tim,
11:19thank you,
11:20Justin,
11:20and we will see you guys next time on PlayStation Underground.
11:32PlayStation,
11:32PlayStation.
11:32Grazie a tutti.
