00:01We've been on an extraordinary journey.
00:05It began in 2017 with a realisation and a vision.
00:10The realisation was that Rolls-Royce Motorcar's success
00:14meant its original site at Goodwood was approaching capacity.
00:18To continue its growth, innovation and excellence
00:22we needed new equipment, new facilities
00:25and, above all, more space. A lot more space.
00:31True to our philosophy to take the best that exists and make it better
00:35we began forming a vision to expand the home of Rolls-Royce for a new generation.
00:40And so the idea was born.
00:42To build an extension to the home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood
00:45alongside our existing premises
00:47to expand our capabilities for bespoke and coach build
00:51and secure our business for decades to come.
00:53That vision was first translated into an initial design statement
00:58that in turn informed a detailed planning proposal.
01:01Preparing the planning application was a delicate, complex process.
01:06Teams across our business invested many months in getting it right.
01:10Working closely with expert consultants and advisers,
01:14representatives of local, regional and national authorities and utilities
01:19and actively engaging with our neighbours
01:21through regular communications and outreach events
01:24in the surrounding communities and at the home of Rolls-Royce itself.
01:29We also conducted extensive environmental and archaeological investigations
01:35underlining our sensitive approach to living and working
01:38in this unique and beautiful corner of the world.
01:42In the spring of 2024, we were granted formal planning consent.
01:48Construction began almost immediately with a real sense of purpose and ambition.
01:54Through 2025, the momentum has continued to build.
01:58On site, we poured 750 concrete foundation pads,
02:03installed 437 steel columns and connecting beams
02:07to create the new building's framework,
02:09which was then clad in materials chosen for their longevity,
02:13low environmental impact and ability to blend seamlessly with their surroundings.
02:20Off site, we created valuable new amenities for the neighbouring community
02:24and involved local people, including children,
02:27in meeting our pledge to deliver a biodiversity net gain
02:31of more than 10% across the site.
02:34The extension is the largest single investment at the home of Rolls-Royce
02:38since it launched in 2003.
02:41It's one of the largest currently in the south-east of England.
02:44And now, we have arrived at a defining moment in this £300 million-plus project.
02:51The new building is now fully weathertight and ready to be fitted out.
02:57This landmark extension creates 40,000 square metres of additional space.
03:03It will house state-of-the-art facilities and advanced equipment
03:07that will future-proof our business for years to come.
03:10It will safeguard skilled jobs and strengthen our vital contribution
03:15to both the local community and wider UK economy.
03:19Through careful design, thoughtful use of materials
03:23and our commitment to safeguarding our local environment and habitats,
03:27the new building blends discreetly into its surroundings,
03:31just like the original one.
03:33Proof that it's possible to bring about transformative business and technological change
03:38without making a major visual, social or environmental impact.
03:43The building stands ready.
03:46Now the fit-out begins.
