00:30D.J.'s in the race hoods, music from Junkie XL.
00:33It's like street racers and the fans bringing the party to organized track racing.
00:38That's the vibe that we're after.
00:40The location of Pro Street runs the gamut from professional tracks to cities to street locations.
00:47In addition to that, we want to convey the experience of driving it at multiple times of days, from dawn
00:53to dusk.
00:54We have an extremely complex system of sky presets, each of which changes the mood entirely of the track or
01:02the location that you're driving.
01:04When we first started the game, we realized how important smoke is to the atmosphere of these racing events.
01:10When you go out there, you'll see that people are just absorbed by the smoke.
01:15The smoke envelopes the entire arena.
01:16So we really wanted to convey that in our game.
01:19So for the first time, we actually developed a new technology for smoke.
01:22It's real-time, volumetric smoke.
01:25By volumetric, what it means is that it's never flat looking.
01:28It gets lit by the sun no matter what direction it is in.
01:31The drag mode, for example, the smoke being volumetric actually wraps around the tire.
01:35There's actually a force that we apply in the tire that grabs smoke realistically as it wraps around the tire.
01:41When you do drifting, it kicks up a big cloud of smoke that hopefully it will actually enhance the gameplay.
01:47Damage is really important to our game.
01:49And, you know, we really aim for Pro Street to convey the real grittiness of racing involved.
01:54So not only is it about how beautiful a car looks pristine, but we also want to convey how a
01:59car looks when it's banged up, when it's crumpled.
02:01So in order to do that, we developed a new technology called pixel shaders, pixel damage.
02:06And that's really a combination of two things.
02:08One is scratch maps, the way the paint scratches off.
02:11And the other one is crumple maps, the way metal crunches together.
02:14So when you're actually in the game, you see the car hit another car, hit an opponent, hit a wall.
02:20Not only does it do vertex damage, which means the points themselves crumple,
02:25but within the points themselves, it feels like the metal has folded up and distorts the reflection accurately.
02:32We're very excited about this feature.
02:34I don't think any other game has damage to this level.
