Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha, a day after speaking in the Lok Sabha, warning of hard times ahead due to the ongoing crisis affecting the Strait of Hormuz.

00:56He's mentioned how the routine supplies of fuel, pharma, fertilizers, etc. has been affected.

03:08What is your take on what the Prime Minister has said?

03:11The nation and this part of the world, they're facing a huge challenge

03:15and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is assuring the House of efforts being undertaken by his government

03:20to ensure that people don't face a lot of hardship

03:24but he is warning of hard times ahead

03:26and quite like during the COVID era

03:29he wants the centre and states to work as one team

03:32and especially his address in Rajasabha is extremely crucial

03:36so he's listing out steps that have been undertaken so far

03:39as far as energy requirements are concerned

03:42India is heavily dependent on the Strait of Hormuz and countries in the region

03:47and how India is using dialogue and diplomacy

03:50which we've also seen in action on ground in terms of oil tankers and gas tankers

03:55Iran permitting Indian tankers or tankers destined for India

04:00to sail through the Strait of Hormuz through the Iranian waters

04:04so Prime Minister is very clear that dialogue and diplomacy is the way forward

04:08he's not in favour of Strait of Hormuz being blocked

04:11but efforts that are being undertaken

04:13and he's also urging the states to come forward and come together

04:18because something like black marketeering

04:20that's a huge challenge

04:22hoarding, that's a huge challenge

04:24now in this situation centre and states have to operate together

04:28to ensure people don't face much hardship

04:31and from what he said it's very clear there are hard times ahead

04:35you know it's the sowing season that's coming

04:38so fertilisers and a lot of requirement of our fertilisers

04:41come from this region

04:42and this is where he's saying efforts are being made to ensure

04:45that India does not have a paucity of fertilisers as of now

04:49but there should be no hoarding

12:10remember what happened to the medical students who came back when the ukraine war had started

12:27and the students you know god forbid but yes the situation is extremely precarious considering

12:33class 10th and class 12th board exams uh for cbse students uh in the gulf region they've had to be

12:39canceled but alternate arrangement as the prime minister has mentioned in loksawa yesterday

12:43uh that's that's being taken care of point one point two uh even before the prime minister had

12:48traveled to israel um there were several advisories that had gone out to people who were um in iran

12:54whether there were students businessmen religious those who were there for religious tourism uh those

13:00who were there for other reasons uh that if they wanted to come they should make immediate uh

13:04arrangements and leave as quickly as possible but several left but those who didn't efforts were

13:10made to get them back through armenia and azarbaijan as you mentioned a large number of them have come

13:15back however the challenge remains huge considering it's one crore uh indians who work in the entire uh you

13:22know west asia region um and the crisis as of now does appear to be intensifying while efforts are on

13:30to ensure that uh there can be perhaps some kind of a a dialogue and india has always been a

13:36very strong

13:37advocate of dialogue and diplomacy but um you know you since you mentioned what happened in ukraine in

13:422022 i was reporting from ground zero in ukraine uh when the war started and that's the time that indian

13:49medical students were brought back in large numbers um and for some time there was a temporary uh a

13:56pause of sorts for indian students to be able to leave uh the troubled areas get to safer zone and

14:02then the conflict started once again and unfortunately that conflict has been on uh for four years and

14:08counting and intensifying in various phases it's on even now in 2026 march um and and god forbid there

14:15are apprehensions that this conflict unless there is a a solution found as quickly as possible this

14:22also could spiral um and and go out of control and could then become a forever war even though america

14:29american president donald trump he's repeatedly saying this will not be a forever war but all indications

14:35appear to be and especially with troops being mobilized um and and two marine expeditionary units

14:40uh one uh from uh san diego and the other from wakirawa uh when they are coming to this area

14:46when america is talking about taking control of karga island and several other islands in this area

14:51it does appear the situation could go from bad to worse well uh that is an analysis that is a

14:58very

14:58very pointed analysis that you're making gaurav with uh thank you for the analysis and let's listen

21:06the challenging situation, which is now happening day by day. So that's a very big message which

21:12is now coming in from our prime minister. And that is a message to all the opposition

21:20that we have enough sources of energy. We are very much prepared to deal with the situation.

21:26We also have, you know, amount of petroleum and diesel projects. We are in talks with

21:35various other countries. We have diversified our talks with various other countries from

21:4027 to 41. The number of countries have increased. We are in talks with them. And, you know, we

21:46have enough resources. So no need to panic, no need to worry about anything. At the same

21:52time, Prime Minister has said that in the last 11 years, the government, Modi government

21:57has focused on electrification of various departments, including railway. He has also said that the

22:04network of metro has also been increased, which is also certainly going to give a huge relief

22:08to the people. So the one message which is now coming in from Prime Minister's speech is

22:13that we are for peace, dialogue. We are for de-escalation. We cannot accept any kind of

22:19attack. They are all on the ships in the state of Homo. We are also not only in talks with

22:25the

22:26Gulf countries, with Iran, but also in talks with Israel, America. So a whole lot of approach

22:33is being extended by the team, Narendra Modi, as far as dealing with this crisis is concerned.

22:37And the message to countrymen that we have enough resources and no need to panic. And as far as,

22:42you know, dealing with this situation is concerned, everyone should work together.

22:48Every state government must come together and work as Team India.
