00:18I'm Jeffrey Stiefel, I'm the executive producer of Lord of the Rings Online, and today we're
00:22going to talk a little bit about getting together in teams with different types of capabilities.
00:30You can get a party together anytime you want, a fellowship, which is the party group in
00:33Lotro. Up to six people, this is the basic building block of your group, your team. A fellowship
00:38is an opportunity for you to bring together people with complementary skills, classes,
00:43different types of player skills, and go out into Middle Earth and take on new challenges.
00:56So, one of the most exciting tools that we give to groups are what we call fellowship
01:01maneuvers. These are very powerful attacks that you wouldn't be able to have on your
01:05own. One person in the party initiates this maneuver, and then everyone else in the party
01:09has these four different colored gems. We have a very short amount of time to choose
01:13one of those gems. Your group then gets into a coordinated attack. If everybody chooses
01:19the red gem, you summon the spirit of an Ent, which makes your team have a hugely powerful
01:25attack. And you can do these group feats to attack. You can use them to heal the entire
01:30group. You can use them to put some kind of, you know, AoE effect on your opponent. This
01:35is a really new thing for an MMO, and it really becomes a way for a group of people to
01:39learn how
01:39to be more and more powerful and strategic with each other over time.
01:48The larger group we have, of course, is the kinships. Kinships are the guilds of Lord of
01:52the Rings Online. And this is a way for you to create a whole personal community of people
01:57who gather together, people that you can draw on for different raids and adventures that
02:01you go on, and everything from a, you know, a six-person step instance where you're going
02:05to want to go in there with a fellowship to our 24-person raid where you're going to want
02:09to have 24 people who really work well together to actually get through it.
02:16We give you all sorts of tools, obviously kinship mail, kinship chat. We even have housing coming,
02:24which will provide housing spaces to your kinships. All these are to help you bring your group together,
02:29plan, and sort of build a stable environment for you to go out and adventure in Middle Earth.
