00:00Perfect. Friday at 7 on WB33.
00:04Welcome to Love Connection.
00:30And now here's our host, Pat Bullard.
00:40We're off to a good start. Let's keep it going by meeting our first guest.
00:44He's a former member of the Coast Guard, and he says that being a hotel bellboy was the best job
00:49he ever had.
00:49He's learned that the military and marriages don't mix, and he considers himself a shoulder man.
00:55Please welcome Tony Parham.
01:00Hey, Tony. How are you, my friend?
01:02Whoa, that's a good handshake. Have a seat.
01:06Ah. Well, thanks for being with us.
01:08Thank you for inviting me.
01:09Now, what do you mean you're a shoulder man?
01:10Well, I'm not one of those typical guys that just, you know, a lot of guys just go straight for
01:16the breasts.
01:19For some reason, I focus on shoulders and the neck here.
01:22It's because I like to nibble on good shoulders and spaghetti straps and stuff like that.
01:26Yes. It's really nice.
01:30It sounds like you had a hard time in the military. What was that about?
01:32Well, just, you know, I was gone a lot, and I was on ships going to different places,
01:38and every time I came home to my ex, well, my wife at the time,
01:43when we started getting used to being around each other again, things were starting to work well, boom, I was
01:47gone.
01:47And it would just disrupt that whole thing, so it didn't work out.
01:50Oh, yeah. So you think you need more time together. Of course you do.
01:52Yeah, you need more time together.
01:53And why was being a bellboy your favorite, Jeff?
01:55Well, because it's really nice and interesting when you deal with a lot of European women,
02:02and you come up and take either towels or their bags to the rooms,
02:07and they just have absolutely no qualms whatsoever about answering the door naked.
02:10Oh.
02:11That's kind of nice.
02:13Let's take a look at the women that Tony had to choose from,
02:15and remember, you guys are going to pick the woman that you think is best for him.
02:18First, it was Carrie. She's originally from Canada,
02:20and she says that despite her height and weight, she's almost perfect.
02:24She admits she hasn't been dating much lately,
02:26and she thinks the worst place to meet men is at the gym. Here's why.
02:31You get all these guys that are buff, and they go to the gym, and they work out,
02:35but it's like sometimes the bigger their muscles get, the smaller their brains get.
02:40You can't carry on with these people.
02:42I mean, I don't like these guys that are really, you know, overdone.
02:46I just want somebody with tone and shape.
02:49She's got nice shoulders.
02:52Next to her was Margie.
02:53She was born and raised in Philadelphia, and she admits she can be selfish at times.
02:56She usually dates about once a week, and sometimes even that's too much.
03:00Here's more on that.
03:01I get a little moody. If I'm not in the right mood, it's just not going to work that night.
03:08I don't mean I get angry, but sometimes I just need to be by myself.
03:12And unfortunately, if it falls on a night where I have plans, I may just have to change some.
03:19And finally, Dana.
03:20She describes herself as a people person, and she spends her free time kickboxing.
03:25She's turned on by men who can sing, and here's more from Dana.
03:29I appreciate women with, like, voluptuous bodies.
03:31I can tell, you know, I can see why guys would like that.
03:34And just for me, I, you know, I wasn't built that way.
03:38You know, I work out a lot, and I work on my body,
03:40but there's certain things that you can never, you can never get through working out.
03:45And so it's something that I appreciate, and I just, you know,
03:48it just makes me feel like more of a woman, I guess.
03:53Okay, audience, those are the women that Tony had to choose from,
03:55and it's time for you guys to vote.
04:02All right, we're going to take a break, and when we come back,
04:05we'll meet the woman that Tony selected and hear everything that happened on their date.
04:14We'll be right back, and we'll be right back, and we'll be right back.
04:38Allara, my old mobile.
04:41Start something.
04:46If you're one of the millions of Americans who suffer from the emotional pain of having genital warts,
04:52you might have them burned off, frozen off, or cut off.
04:56Or you could treat them with a prescription cream, Aldara.
04:59Aldara cream is clinically proven to treat external genital warts conveniently and effectively.
05:05You use Aldara cream in the privacy of your own home,
05:09and few people who used Aldara cream complained of pain.
05:13Aldara cream treats external genital warts, but is not a cure.
05:17The most common side effects are redness, peeling, and itching in the wart area.
05:21The effect of Aldara cream on the spread of genital warts to partners is unknown,
05:25and sexual contact should be avoided while the cream is on the skin.
05:28For a free information packet about Aldara cream, call 1-800-870-7644.
05:37Help take the suffering out of genital warts.
05:40Ask your doctor about Aldara cream.
05:52So, that concludes this part of the training session for Keebler Fud Shop Cookies.
05:57Any questions, fellas?
05:59Shop to the cookie craving.
06:00Go to the Keebler Fud Shop.
06:03Need a break?
06:04Treat yourself to something special.
06:06There's one winner for every day of the Keebler Everyday Getaway Sweepstakes.
06:10Enter at participating stores.
06:13For red dry eyes, try clear eyes.
06:19It removes redness and has the ingredient to moisturize.
06:24Wow.
06:25The difference is clear.
06:27Clear eyes.
06:28You know, I've heard of these strips.
06:30I'll be from Pond.
06:31Pond's clear pore strips deep clean to unclothed pores and gently lift blackheads away.
06:34So, all the stuff you don't want on your nose ends up on the strip.
06:37It's like a veritable blackhead magnet.
06:39Pond's clear pore strips.
06:40So long, blackheads.
06:42From the Pond Institute.
06:43We're back.
06:44All right, Tony, who'd you select?
06:46I picked Dana.
06:47Dana.
06:48All right.
06:51Let's say hello to Dana Furman.
06:53Hi, Dana.
06:55There she is.
06:56Welcome to the show.
06:58Hi.
06:59Thanks for being with us.
07:00Now, tell us, you two have not seen each other since the date, of course.
07:03And tell us a little bit about it, Tony.
07:06Well, I went to go pick her up in Hermosa Beach.
07:10And I drove up and went to her door.
07:13And the door was wide open.
07:15And it looked like there was a big party going on in there.
07:17And there was a bunch of people running around.
07:19And I step in the door.
07:20And boom, everybody's head is pointing at me.
07:23So I get a little hot and warm.
07:25And she's the only one that's not looking at me because she's on the phone.
07:27And she's like, yeah, hold on a second.
07:29Okay.
07:31And introduce everybody.
07:32Well, hang on one sec, Tony.
07:34Who were those people, Dana?
07:35It just so happened that my roommates were both home.
07:38And a couple of their friends were over at the time when Tony came over.
07:41And the people that were over, what did they think of Tony?
07:44Well, they knew right off the bat that he wasn't my type.
07:48And you weren't impressed then with the way Tony looked?
07:50No, he kind of looked like Buddy Holly.
07:52Buddy Holly to me.
07:54Buddy Holly.
07:55But I look good.
07:56Buddy Holly's a good looking guy.
07:57And he's a great guy.
07:58Yeah, he's dead.
07:58But he was a good looking guy.
08:00So what happened next?
08:01She had said that she liked Italian, which, you know, I'm half Italian.
08:05So I want to go to an Italian restaurant.
08:06And she suggested two places, which neither one of them were Italian restaurants.
08:11And we went to the one that was close by.
08:13And it was a great, it was a nice little seafood place.
08:15It was very, like, trendy, art deco-ish.
08:18So what did you find out about Tony at dinner in conversation, Dana?
08:22First of all, I didn't know that he was divorced.
08:25That's not, you know, like a big problem for me.
08:27But I hadn't, you know, I've never dated someone who's been in a marriage situation before.
08:33So that.
08:34Now, were you withholding that information?
08:36I was not withholding.
08:37I just didn't feel it pertinent.
08:41It's not pertinent.
08:42It's not pertinent.
08:44So what happened there?
08:45Well, we were having dinner, and she saw, we had our food in front of us, and she felt it
08:53very, that she would like a part of my dinner.
08:57And reached across the table and took a bite of, I just, okay, have some.
09:03That was good.
09:04Now, is that something you do a lot, Dana?
09:06Is that unusual?
09:06Well, yeah, I shared food with my friends all the time.
09:09I didn't think it was a big a deal.
09:11I asked him.
09:11He didn't respond.
09:12So, yeah, I took it upon myself to share it's dinner.
09:15And what happened next?
09:16Well, it had gotten to the point where I realized that this really wasn't going anywhere.
09:20And I must confess that I did lie about my evening plans.
09:26I do work at a bar.
09:27And I did say that I had, it was project night at the bar, and that I had to be
09:32back in Long Beach by 11 o'clock.
09:34So I could just, it was, you know, just to get out of there.
09:38What happened after that?
09:38So what had happened was that we discussed or thought about going to go-karts.
09:45And what had happened was the bill came for the dinner, and it took all of the show's money.
09:51She didn't feel it was necessary to help out with anything.
09:53Well, it's the 90s, and you thought maybe Dana could.
09:55Why didn't you help out with anything?
09:57Well, at that point, I realized that there was no chemistry between us.
10:03I was done with the date by that time.
10:06And I wasn't going to offer.
10:07I wasn't going to offer any money.
10:08I was ready to go.
10:09And she said that she was done, too.
10:10And did you then have a little project, washing dishes in the kitchen?
10:14No, the bill was paid.
10:15The bill was paid.
10:16Oh, because she got out.
10:17And took her home and thought it'd be nice to walk her to her door.
10:21She opens the door, and there's a drunk guy passed out on the couch.
10:24There's a little note on the floor.
10:26She says, don't worry about him.
10:26Let him sleep it off.
10:29Like I said, like I said, I do have a couple roommates, and I have a lot of friends that
10:34come over.
10:34This is one of my roommate's friends, you know, something that's totally out of my control.
10:38So it was someone you knew.
10:39It wasn't just a drunk guy with a note.
10:40It was someone that was in my apartment building, I found out, yeah.
10:43Yeah.
10:47So I figured, you know, I didn't want to really leave her there alone.
10:50And earlier she'd mentioned that her car had died.
10:52And I'd take her down to where her car is at and hook the cables up to it and try
10:57to get it going.
10:58And her alarm's going off.
11:00Okay, can I say something here?
11:02Yes, you can.
11:03Tony's the kind of person that will say that he knows what he's doing, but he really doesn't.
11:09I found that later.
11:11He didn't know what he was doing with my car, and he ended up ruining my car.
11:15Oh, he didn't.
11:16How did he ruin your car?
11:17Well, he crossed the cables, and it didn't work when he jump-started it.
11:21He ruined my car.
11:21And actually, I do have a couple receipts here.
11:26For the damage that was done to my car.
11:28Oh, I just thought I was doing something nice.
11:31And she also didn't know how to turn off her alarm.
11:34And, you know, it was just over from there.
11:37And I pushed the car back into the slot.
11:39Yeah, it sounds like it came back.
11:41How did it actually end?
11:42Was that the end of the date?
11:43Well, I took her back home, thought it'd be nice again, and walk her to her door.
11:47And the drunk guy's waking up.
11:50And he's like, whoa, man, I was game over.
11:53And I gotta go.
11:54And he gives her a hug.
11:56And I'm like, okay.
11:56Yeah, that was a little embarrassing.
11:58I didn't know who that guy was, really.
12:00He was still there.
12:01So I gave her a hug and just said, I'll see you on the show.
12:05All right, well, let's see how the audience voted.
12:11Yeah, the audience says Dana also.
12:1376% chose Dana.
12:15And Tony, if you would like to see Dana again.
12:19We, of course, would be more than happy to pay for that date.
12:23What do you think?
12:24I'm going to have to pass.
12:25You're going to pass on that.
12:26Thank you, Tony, for being with us.
12:28Dana, I'm sorry we didn't make a lesson, I see.
12:30Thanks for being with us.
12:31Come see us again, okay?
12:33Tony, thank you very much.

15:12It was an exciting day at Pop Secret.
15:16We had an idea for something big.
15:19Home-style microwave popcorn.
15:21Look, that's it.
15:22That's out.
15:23Now, to recreate that old-fashioned stovetop popcorn taste,
15:26we need the same real butter.
15:28That light sprinkling of table salt.
15:30Just the way it used to be.
15:31Is that your man?
15:32Mm-hmm.
15:34Well, we did it.
15:36Home-style tastes just like the kind cooked on the stove.
15:39From Pop Secret, perfect popcorn is our passion.
15:47Let's meet our next guest.
15:48He was born and raised in Massachusetts,
15:50and he dates about once every two months.
15:53He says his best job involved watching naked women.
15:56And he believes that being shy works to his advantage when it comes to dating.
16:00Please welcome Daniel Barnes.
16:03Hey, Daniel.
16:06How you doing, sir?
16:07Yeah, you're almost too shy to come out.
16:09How you doing?
16:10Good.
16:10Good.
16:11Thanks for being with us.
16:11How does shyness work to your advantage?
16:14Oh, well, there's a lot of macho, aggressive men out there,
16:17and I like to wait in the wings and wait for the nicer women who aren't attracted to that.
16:23Ah.
16:23Yeah.
16:24So you just wait for your time and then slowly move in?
16:27I'm also looking.
16:29I'm attracted to intelligent women,
16:30and so I hang out at the library or whatnot.
16:34Oh, do you?
16:34Yeah.
16:35Because I like dumb women.
16:36I've always been a big fan of them.
16:39Now, what kind of job did you have that involved watching naked women?
16:42Um, I was a lifeguard at a nude beach.
16:45Oh, sure?
16:46Oh, you were?
16:47Yeah.
16:48It was the best job of my life.
16:50I bet.
16:50Yeah.
16:51And what exactly would your uniform have been for that job?
16:54Actually, I had to wear a bathing suit,
16:57so they knew who the lifeguard was.
16:58Oh, yeah.
17:00All right.
17:01Good job, if you can get it.
17:03Let's take a look at the women that Daniel had to choose from.
17:05Remember, you guys are going to pick the woman that you think is best for him.
17:08First, there was Melissa.
17:10She says that men like her humorous demeanor and that women think she's a bitch.
17:15And she admits that her family doesn't always approve of her dates.
17:18Here's an example.
17:19And I told them, oh, he's so charming, he's so witty and so fun,
17:22and they're all like, why isn't he talking?
17:24Anyway, but things were okay.
17:25But then he pulls out his cigarette papers, and he's like,
17:28oh, do you mind if I roll a cigarette?
17:29And my mom's like, and like four pairs of eyes turned and glared at him,
17:32and they're like, you smoke?
17:35Next, there was Gwen.
17:36She believes that her best attributes are her confidence and her willingness to do anything.
17:40She thinks her worst habit is asking too many questions,
17:43and she says that she attracts older men, and here's why.
17:46I definitely carry myself well and more mature level than the average 23-year-old.
17:55And I've had a lot of experiences and worked throughout my life.
17:59So mentally, I think I am at par with like a typical 28-year-old.
18:06And I generally just seem to attract men that are like 50-plus, you know,
18:11that are like on Viagra now.
18:15And finally, Lizzie.
18:16She was born and raised in Horseheads, New York.
18:18She enjoys watching soap operas, rollerblading, and doing her nails.
18:22And Lizzie tells us why she'd like to experience life as a man for one day.
18:26I just want to know, like, what it would be to have that for a day.
18:32To go to the bathroom with a guy, to have stuff with a guy.
18:36You know, because it's so different.
18:38It's like external, and it would be different.
18:40I would think it would get in the way sometimes.
18:46To have what for a day, exactly?
18:49Those are the women that Daniel had to choose from, so it's time to vote.
18:51Make your choice now.
18:56All right, we're going to take a break, and when we come back,
18:58we'll meet the woman Daniel selected and hear everything that happened on their date.
19:04A date at an amusement park?
19:05I mean, I'm a breast man, so...
19:07It's a no-brainer that I take her straight to the water, right?
19:10Very amusing.
19:11She pulls out this shower cap.
19:13She could have put on a raincoat.
19:14Next Love Connection, tomorrow.
19:19Reggie thinks Dee's got three problems.
19:21She's got three problems.
19:23She's got three problems.
19:24She's got three problems.
19:24So Change of Heart fixed them both up on blind dates.
19:27See if they stay together or have a change of heart tomorrow.
19:34No cinnamon gum freshens breath longer than Big Red.
19:38Get close a little longer.
19:40Kiss a little longer.
19:42Pull tight a little longer.
19:44Longer with Big Red.
19:45That big red freshness, that's right through it.
19:49Your fresh breath goes on and on while you chew it.
19:54Go, go, go on.
19:55A little longer.
19:56Make it last.
19:57A little longer.
19:58Keep it fresh, that's right through it.
20:00Freshness with Big Red.
20:04Caramel made and standing so tall.
20:07Adorn yourself with the colors of fun.
20:11Walnut, jazz, and ginger dreams.
20:13Perfectly lie against rich chocolate greens.
20:17Diva's a bronze blackberry princess.
20:20Moving and shaking in a suit or dress.
20:24A coat of wool swirls as you whirl and twirl.
20:28Girl, fall is here.
20:30Take another look.
20:31It's a good time.
20:35Why do I use Kira, the only proven St. John's Wort?

22:31It just rocks.
22:36We're back.
22:37All right, Daniel.
22:37Tell us who'd you pick.
22:38I picked Gwen.
22:40All right.
22:43Let's say hello to Gwen.
22:44This is Gwen Cassidy.
22:45Hi, Gwen.
22:45Hi, Pat.
22:46How are you?
22:47Very well.
22:47Thanks for being with us.
22:48Well, thank you for having me.
22:49Hi, Dan.
22:50Hi, Gwen.
22:50All right, Dan.
22:51Tell us about this pick.
22:53Um, well, I called her on the telephone, and we decided to make it a day-to-day, and she
23:00also wanted it to be a complete surprise, so I selected a surprise, then I went and picked
23:06her up, but I was running a little behind schedule, but it was good.
23:10I had some flowers to make up for it, so.
23:13Oh, nice.
23:13Now, tell me, what did you think of Daniel on the phone, Gwen?
23:16Well, originally, I definitely, um, thought he was a bit immature, I guess.
23:23Um, normally, normally I date guys that are a bit more sophisticated and, uh, distinguished
23:30and cosmopolitan, and he was just very nervous on the phone.
23:34And I, I gave her the flowers, and she hugged me and gave me a nice, uh, kiss on the
23:39cheek.
23:40Uh-huh.
23:40And then, uh, she was a little uncomfortable with what she was wearing, so she went to change.
23:46Well, may I interject here, Pat?
23:48Yeah.
23:49Okay, the reason why I was uncomfortable with what I was wearing is, uh, Dan showed up at
23:52my door on Saturday afternoon at 2.30, um, in about 130 degree weather with a sweater,
23:59decked out for LA nightlife.
24:00He totally had a black pad, a sweater, a black shirt.
24:03So I felt I was a little, you know, dressed too casually.
24:07So a little too casual.
24:07Now, why were you wearing a sweater on that kind of day?
24:10Uh, that's the only thing I had that was clean.
24:16All right, we're very honest.
24:17That's for sure.
24:19So, Gwen went to change, and what happened?
24:21Yeah, um, I decided to put the flowers in a, a, a vase.
24:24And while she was changing, I filled the vase with water, and unfortunately, it broke.
24:31Uh, so I was, uh, definitely felt stupid.
24:35And then, uh, she came out in a miniskirt, and, which was, uh, another surprise.
24:39And she has a beautiful leg, so that was nice.
24:42And then we went out to the car, and, uh, I got in the car, tried to start it, and
24:46my car
24:47wouldn't start, so that was, like, you know, first, the vase, I was a little late, and now
24:53the car wasn't starting.
24:54So the car won't start?
24:55Yeah, and, uh, first reaction was panic.
24:58Um, and then I kind of calmed myself down, started talking to myself, come on, start,
25:03start.
25:03So what were you doing when he's trying to get the car going and everything, Gwen?
25:06Just sitting?
25:06I'm, I'm standing out to the side, and the side, and, you know, eventually I moved to
25:10the shade.
25:11But he literally is sitting in his car.
25:12It's already 200 degrees outside, it had to have been, like, 400 in his car, with the
25:17sweater on, and I am just, I'm trying so hard not to laugh, and finally he opens the door,
25:23because the windows were rolled up, he was completely shut in, he opens the door, and
25:26he looks at me and says, you know, the car won't start, and I'm like, really?
25:33So what happened next there, Dan?
25:34Well, so, five minutes, five minutes of this ordeal, I, I finally lost it, and I just completely
25:39looked frustrated, I'm just, like, jamming the ignition, and it finally turned over.
25:42And it starts, so that was great.
25:45So we're on the road, and we're making our way to the surprise, uh, date, and it was
25:49the, the forum, I was bringing her to the circus, uh, however, I've never been to the
25:54forum before, so I wasn't quite sure how to get there, so I, I went to get my map out
26:00of my glove compartment while driving, and, uh, yeah.
26:02Let me interject here again.
26:03Yeah.
26:04While Dan reaches over, he kind of brushed by my leg, and, and then he dodged in the glove
26:11box, but it was so adorable, because after he did it, he was completely embarrassed, you
26:15know, it wasn't a big deal at all, and, uh, you know, it kind of added to the state of
26:20confusion, I guess.
26:21And were you aware that you had brushed your leg?
26:23Yeah, I apologize, I was a gentleman about it, I'm sorry, I'm reaching for the map.
26:27You sound so nice, it sounds like things didn't go well, but you always, you sound nice, you're
26:30a gentleman, you're having fun.
26:31Perfect gentleman.
26:32We got, we got on track, Gwen helped navigate, and we found the forum, um, and at that point,
26:39Gwen realized we were going to the circus, um, and she was ecstatic about it, she's like,
26:45oh my god, the circus, yes, yes.
26:46So you're at the circus.
26:47Yeah, we had a great time at the circus, pretty much watched, watched the circus, had a little
26:52bit of conversation, then we decided to go to dinner at the circus, so, um, I took her
26:57to a restaurant in West Hollywood, a sushi restaurant, which I like, um, but we were there
27:03kind of relatively early for dinner, so we decided to have some drinks before dinner
27:07and, and talk, um, which was great, and things definitely were turning around at this
27:12point, because Gwen decided to come on to me at this point.
27:15Oh, yeah.
27:18Well, apparently, apparently you did, Gwen.
27:21No.
27:22Did you make the first move?
27:23No, absolutely not, no, no, no.
27:26Well, I, I felt someone touching my hand.
27:28It, it might have been, uh, the couple glasses of wine that we had, but I think it was the
27:32other way around, Dan.
27:33No, things were definitely interesting at this point, and we sat down for sushi, then, as
27:38the meal went on, Gwen decided to feed me a piece of sushi.
27:46Gwen, did you, did you do that?
27:48You decided to feed him?
27:49Okay, that I'll admit to.
27:52In return, I, I fed Gwen a piece of sushi back, and she found that very sensuous, so
27:57the rest of the meal, we fed each other.
27:59Oh, yeah.
28:00It's very romantic.
28:02It sounds great.
28:03Tell us how the date ended.
28:05Okay.
28:05So, um, we, we ended, I brought Gwen back to her place, um, thanks for going, definitely,
28:10we had a rocky start, but things are going well now.
28:13So, I held her hand and walked into her door, and to show her that I had a good time,
28:17I
28:18gave her the most romantic kiss I could.
28:20It was very romantic.
28:22Uh, um, one of the most endearing qualities, I think, about Dan is that he is a perfect gentleman.
28:28Oh, good.
28:29It sounds good.
28:29And let's see who the audience voted for, Dan.
28:35The audience chose Gwen, of course, 50%.
28:40You know how this works, Dan.
28:41If you'd like to, uh, see Gwen again, then, of course, we'd be more than happy to pay for
28:45the date.
28:45I'd love to.
28:46You'd love to see her again?
28:47Gwen, what do you think?
28:48Would that be all right with you?
28:50I bet it is.
28:50She's coming out.
28:55There she is.
28:56Hi, guys.
28:57Thanks for being with us.
29:02Ah.
29:05Nice job.
29:05There you go.
29:06Have a seat.
29:07So, he's a little, sort of a different kind of guy for you?
29:09A little more shy than the type you're used to?
29:11You look good together.
29:13All right.
29:13Well, go out again, have fun, and check back with us.
29:16Let us know how things are going.
