00:25The two factions in the game are designed to be entirely different in the way that they approach warfare.
00:31So the echelon are technologically advanced, they've got really cool toys, they've got superior firepower, great mobility and well trained.
00:40Where the Psy on the other hand are very much like guerrilla fighters, freedom fighters and over thousands of years
00:46have developed these internal special abilities.
00:49What we've really got in the two sides is a powerful technologically superior action against a faction that hides in
00:56the shadows, that can appear anywhere and then disappear at a moment's notice.
01:00We've got on the echelon side the sentinels and now they're like a machine gun unit that locks into place
01:05and they pop their shields up and they sit there and they shoot anything that comes into range.
01:09Whereas on the Psy side there's a unit called the Rage who's this massive hulking brute, really well armoured, lots
01:14of hit points, can't shoot anyone but if he can get next to them he can pound the snot out
01:18of them.
01:19So yeah, his job is to get in there and smash them and the sentinels' job is to keep them
01:22away and shoot them. So yeah, it's awesome.
01:25One of the cool things that we wanted to do with the echelon is have their animations a little bit
01:29different to the Psy.
01:30We wanted them to be more organised, more like your professional military army so all their movements are really strict
01:36and they go from cover to cover.
01:38The Psy animation-wise we wanted these guys to be a bit crazy, a bit wild.
01:51At the start of the game, we wake up as the lead character, Aiden Geary. He's a commander in the
01:56echelon forces who has just woken up from hibernation.
02:00He's been sleeping for the thousand years, waking up into this new world that's in utter chaos.
02:04There's also a hint during the opening that Aiden Geary is also on a part Psy.
02:09The hero characters are there to help you get through the levels and to show you what the items that
02:14you can actually unlock and the powers that you can get later on.
02:16So they're really there to drive the player off.
02:19On the echelon side, we've got a guy called Coop who's with you in the very first mission and he's
02:23your jack of all trades.
02:23He's got a minigun for killing infantry, he's got a missile for shooting air things and he's got a big
02:27shield for stopping damage.
02:28Whereas on the side side later on, there's this crazy chick called Sable who actually does this massive long-range
02:34damage attack called the Eye of the Storm.
02:36He just cuts through units and it also helps the player know that somewhere in their future, they can get
02:40access to these items as well.
02:41And they really want to get it because it's a great effect and there's lots of damage and then they
02:45can use it in multiplayer.
02:46So they're there as well to entice the player to continue.
02:57As someone who's been playing RTS competitively for five, ten years now, the thing that really excites me about this
03:03game is just the diversity of units we have.
03:06I mean, they're so, so different from what you normally get in a strategy game and the way you can
03:09use them is so different.
03:10What you can get around the map in ways that, you know, I never really imagined it in all RTS,
03:15climbing up walls and jumping over gaps.
03:17It's a really unique way of playing.
03:19One of the key features of our game is the way that you can get in at eye level with
03:23particular units so you get detail close to a third person fighting game.
03:27I think the enforcers are probably the most useful unit I have.
03:30I mean, they're really tough.
03:32You can move them around the map very quickly and if you can get a lot of them together, you
03:36can actually take down any of the other units in the game.
03:38You can use a bit of strategy, you can create a bit of crossfire, you know, a bit of flanking
03:42action with their abilities.
03:43I've got the commando rush so you can get in there very quick and take anything out.
03:47In the past, graphics in RTS games haven't really been the focus, but because we've got the hardware to do
03:52it these days,
03:53we're really looking forward to being able to show you the graphics that we've got in our game.
