00:27Hi, I'm Jack Lusset, a game designer on Empire Total War.
00:30I work on unit balancing and help design tactics with AI.
00:33In this battle, the Polish AI Army is going to use the Massed Cavalry tactic.
00:38This is where it groups most of its cavalry together with the rear of its formation to
00:41smash into one of the player's flanks.
00:44This makes good use of the Polish's famed Wing to Sars, which is the best cavalry in
00:48the game.
00:50This devastating flag attack can completely wipe out an enemy army unless you're ready
00:53to deal with it.
00:54And to deal with it, you can use one of the techs we have in Empire Total War, which is
00:57square formation for your line infantry.
01:00This allows your line infantry to get into information that is great against cavalry.
01:03If you do several units of line infantry like this, you can help push back the enemy attack
01:07and then use the rest of your army, including your artillery, the canister shots, your cavalry
01:12to help defeat the Polish cavalry and then deal with the rest of the army.
01:15But of course, the Polish cavalry will cause a lot of casualties, so you have to be careful
01:18in dealing with the main part of the army.
01:20and then hopefully using my own tactical skill I'll be able to defeat the Polish army with
01:24what's left of my infantry, my cavalry and my artillery.
01:27Making my line infantry a bit thinner means I can get more firepower in the enemy line as
01:33they're advancing.
01:37I've got a lot of cavalry in it, including Wintasars.
01:41Very good unit, best cavalry unit in the game.
01:45It does mean that my infantry are quite vulnerable though, as Wintasars will just punch straight
01:51through my line infantry if they charge into them.
01:53I've only got two units of cavalry and there go the Polish cavalry, obviously trying to outflank me, which is
02:02not good
02:03as my cavalry is completely outclassed against theirs.
02:07Here comes the Wintasars, get my line infantry deployed into square.
02:12With a little I'm going to try and swing my longer line round, see if I can't beat them in
02:18the fireflies.
02:19I don't think I'll be able to wing that cavalry melee, but it's all about buying time for my centre.
